I’ll add one more thing, which is that the statement you made above is EXACTLY the same statement Republicans have been making every election since Reagan. The GOP knows this. They count on the fact that Republicans will vote for ANY Republican to avoid a liberal victory. Until you realize this, and show them they are wrong, they’ll continue to take advantage of this weakness. Instead, you and your fellow GOP slaves will continue to show them there’s no limit to your blind loyalty, and absolutely no demands in return. They can flip you off and completely screw you for eight years, and you’ll continue to re-elect them.

There will be no Reagan candidate after a Huckabee win. No future candidate will dare to run on a conservative platform after watching all three conservatives (Tancredo, Hunter, and Thompson) get humiliated.

It’s not the next four years. It’s forever.

Also, you state that you’re worried about having higher taxes and SCOTUS Justices, but you ignore the fact that Huckabee added massive taxes while Governor of Arkansas. He also refused to sign the pledge not to raise taxes. He’s also a compulsive LIAR, so I’m not sure how you think he’s going to do anything different from what his history shows.

Huckabee is a true liberal. Don’t expect conservative Justices, and if McCain is the nominee … those Justices get even worse as he makes backroom deals with Kennedy.

I don’t think I’m going to change your mind. You’re not really paying any attention to the arguments. It’s not like you’re disagreeing with them. It’s more like you’re just not hearing them.

First of all, I don’t buy into the Huck phenomenon and don’t believe he will be our nominee. As many of the commentors have said, he is not a true conservative and I think he will be forgotton by November 2008.

Having said that, I would never, ever stay home on election day even if Huck were the (R) candidate in the general election. I would gladly go pull the lever for the “little R” rather than vote for any of the current liberal candidates.

Why? Because I know for damn sure Hillary, Obama or Edwards will tax us into oblivion and have the ability to nominate and possibly get confirmed SCOTUS judges that will effect the court the rest of our lives. You tell me how a scenario like that forwards our agenda in any way at all. You ask me how I’ll feel in 8 years with a RINO? Well, I ask you how you’re going to feel in 8 years when your taxes are upwards of 40%, serious gun control measures are in play, and you look at a SCOTUS that resembles a Ginsburg tea party.

When faced with the option of having a 10% chance of getting what I want, vs. having a 100% chance of getting everything I despise, I’ll go with the 10% any day.
Actually, Gregor, I did read your 11:21 post and I do have some fear of what you say. However, I for one refuse to just hand over the reins because my little R isn’t the perfect conservative. I don’t think it will be the end of the party as long as we continue to let them know we are still here at the grassroots level. Ask McCain and Lindsay Graham how shamnesty worked out for them. When I say I don’t understand, I don’t understand the logic.
I guess this is where you and I differ: I think having any of the current Dems in the White House for 4 years will do far more damage to our future than having a half-assed “r” there. Potentially irreversable damage when coupled with a “D” congress too.

As a Utah resident myself I can assure you there is no way in hell Mike Huckabee will carry this State. Most here think he is a bigot. Utah may go blue.

In lieu of a “perfect” candidate, one has to look at what is there. I’d love to see a no-tax, no-amnesty, pro-life, pro-gun, fiscal and social conservative on the ticket. Haven’t seen one, have you?

So, I’ll hold my nose and vote for Huck or Mitt or even McCain (although the Maverick makes me want to stay home, I won’t) just because I stand to avoid a tax increase with any of them over any liberal candidate.

I am a Conservative, and I will vote that way.
