I don’t have any comment on it, really. I just wanted an excuse to link the photos.
Early indications are that it’s O’Reilly’s fault. Exit question: What on earth could have prompted it? Did someone in the vicinity threaten to spit on one of Bill’s friends or something?
No, it can’t be that.
Update: Commenter Yoshi names the big winner here. This should provide enough material for the next, oh, 20 or so episodes of “Countdown.”
Update: Here’s O’R on FNC at around 3 p.m., confirming that pleasantries were exchanged and physical efforts were made to move the Obama staffer out of the way. Takeaway: “No one on this earth is going to block a shot on The O’Reilly Factor.” Slate’s John Dickerson was there and claims to have seen the whole thing go down — when he wasn’t busy shouting at O’Reilly to “grow up”:
“You’re blocking our shot,” yelled O’Reilly.
“oh am I?” asked the Obama staffer not entirely sincerely and not moving.
This is not a new trick. When staffers block you because you’re being too aggressive, the standard thing to do is give them a little business and then move to another spot. O’Reilly didn’t do this. He shoved the Obama aide. There was an exchange and a little more shoving. I didn’t fully capture because as I looked at O’Reilly in his black leather Fox jacket which resembled the kind we wore during football season in high school I swore I could hear him challenge the staffer to a rumble out by the drive in.
“That’s really low class pal,” said O’Reilly.
Supposedly the brief exchange between Bill and Obama himself had to do with coming on the show.

And on top of it he was fawning and telling Barack Obama how much he loves him?? Now that is really too much, O’Reilly drooling over Barack Obama.
Never been at a crowded election event have you?
I have been to several very crowded functions for Rudy with my parents who are heavily campaigning for him and I can guarantee you - Rudy’s people keep the press at bay.
No one sandbags Rudy, even a news person professing their love and devotion.

O’Reilly’s a pompous boob.

Turns out the guy O’Reilly shoved was one of Obama’s bodygaurds.
But the guy stepped in front of him!!! What else could O’Reilly have done?!!! He wasn’t going to let a liberal have his way with him!!!

Now that’s funny….LOL :)
Off topic, Fred just kicked Rudy’s butt on the debate…now that’s enjoyable. :)

Obama would be wise to do the O’Reilly Factor. Gore and Kerry chickened out, and look what happened to them.

April, thats what ALL television journalists do. Oh and are you warming up to Fred???
doriangrey on January 5, 2008 at 10:03 PM
Yes, I am actually and Fred hates O’Reilly, doesn’t really want to cozy up to him, sent his wife to deal with him.
Look, just because O’Reilly has top ratings he assumes that these candidates and figures are required to come in his Bullsh*t Zone, and that is not how it works.
A prerequisite for running for public office, or expressing your opinions openly or writing a book is not the Bullsh*t Zone where you are sandbagged, plucked clean and dressed like a dead pheasant. Oh and your mic is cut because Mr. Bloviator doesn’t believe in freedom of speech on his airtime.
Bullocks to that I say. And I am glad Fred approves.

I’ve seen footage on other sites and this personifies the pussification of this society ’cause if THAT’S a dustup…Jeez comon’. It’s just like all these “heated” parts in the debates. Weak. It’s a election. You’re supposed to attack your opponent. But it’s “Iowa voters don’t like negative ads” or “New Hampshire voters are very sophisticated” SHHHAATUPPPP!!
It’s like a bunch of gehy males at an Oscar party.

It’s a full contact sport. Stop whining and get out of the way. If Obama is all that, why is he running from BOR. If he can’t handle the press, how will he handle the really tough guys domestic and foreign.
