@calbear
Is it ok for Huck and McCain to put out ads showing what Romney said 10 years ago if they don't also say he changed his mind since then and doesn't think like that anymore?

The date is on the ad in the spot which indicates when it ran, but I don’t think that’s deceptive.

Yes, someone who pays full attention to the ad and thinks about it will realize that that was within the context of a campaign. But if everyone gave their full attention to campaigns and thought seriously about everything said, I doubt television campaigning would work at all, let alone be the primary method of campaigning. It is deceptive. Especially when you compare the tenor of McCain's campaign to Bush's in 2000. You can disagree with McCain on policy (regulation, immigration), but it's hard to deny that he ran the more dignified campaign in the 2000 primary.

If last night indicated anything, it is that America is tired of looking to one small part of the US Capitol for leadership. These career politicians of the Senate(read out-of-touch elitists more determined to get along with one another than to take principled stands on the issues) need not apply!

Anything that stops or thwarts McCain from thinking that the grassroots GOP is going to support him is a good thing. He lost that when he traded away our Constitutional rights for CFR and he affirmed his RINO status when he suggested we were "unpatriotic" for not joining him in demanding amnesty for all the illegal criminals that currently infest our society.

Ugh. What a pathetic ad, especially the Bush part. McCain didn’t attack President Bush, he attacked Governor Bush, and only after being attacked first. The ad, for me, just helps emphasize Romney’s lack of character.

Well, maybe they should have said "then Governor Bush" but his title now is President. The date is on the ad in the spot which indicates when it ran, but I don't think that's deceptive.

McCain was also widely criticized for that ad when it ran.

McCain has attacked Bush both in the campaign and after on the exact same issues. It's a perfectly legitimate ad.

Ah yes, McVain's comparing of Bush to Clinton in 2000. Remember it well, and that one ad did a lot to turn me against him then.

Let's try this one on for size:

McVain supported not one, but two amnesty bills while viciously attacking the opponents thereof. As a result he got killed in the polls ... and then changed his position, saying "he's learned his lesson". Clinton-like poll following, anyone?

Fred's best chance isn't to have Huckabee and McCain take alternating states, because Mitt has tons of money and won't go anywhere. His best chance is to get McCain and Huckabee out of the race and then be THE alternative to Mitt. I would love to see that race.

I'd go along with that if it got McCain (RINO) out and helped Fred (and that's coming from a Mitt guy....then again Fred is my #2).
