Video: Bill Richardson accidentally calls Musharraf a “terrorist” before settling on just calling him a “tyrant”

Either way, it’s not exactly helpful to go around calling allies who may be on the cusp of civil war that could empower our true enemies with nuclear weapons names. That would be true whether the ally in question was perfect or imperfect. As to why it would be good to “stand against” Musharraf as Richardson wants the US to do, Richardson doesn’t seem to have thought that far ahead. We “stand against Musharraf”…and then what? All those buildings that the rioters have burned will unburn themselves? Bhutto will rise from the grave and the Islamists who have infested the streets and the army and the ISI will just magically turn into kittens? Nawaz Sharif won’t be a crook and the PPP will become a Jeffersonian political party?
If I didn’t know better, between calling on Musharraf to resign and calling him a “tyrant,” I’d think that Richardson wants to turn Pakistan’s president into Iran’s former Shah. It doesn’t look like he has considered all that might go along with that.
More: Iowa, whatever you do tonight, please do the world a favor and knock Richardson out of the race. He’s a menace.

This much be some of the diplomacy I hear Richardson and the other Democrats talking about all the time.

Richardson is an idiot. He’s removed all doubt.

Tyrant
At least I know now why Richardson might support Obama; similar views on foreign policy and ‘helpful’ labeling of what are ostensibly US allies.

Bill Reconquistason is just jealous because Huckyshuck’ns mentioned that Pakistanis are flooding across our southern border taking up the precious sneak across slots that rightfully belong to much more important entitled Hispanics.

Democrats cannot be trusted in running foreign and defense policy. Musharref for all his faults (and he has many) is less of a tyrant then the Democrats favorite tyrants of years past – Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Castro.

Don’t you just love it when people are caught on tape saying or doing something and STILL try to deny it? LOL…
Bill Richardson has always struck me as less than stellar in the intellect department.

He can sleep in from now on.

And these are the types of folks we can expect another Clinton Administation to put in key positions.

I accidentally call Bill Richardson a “imbecile” before settling on just calling him a “dunce”.

Listen closely, he not only called Musharaf a terrorist, prior to that he said:
” …. we gotta be a country that’s for quality, freedom and the constitution.”
Democrats, paving the way to mediocrity.
fogw on January 3, 2008 at 5:15 PM
Too perfect for words. Do the Dems know anything at all about Pakistan? Hucks not much better, but c’mon…
swami on January 3, 2008 at 5:16 PM
This is from the “I support the troops—We surrender party”
This surely isn’t helping the United States very well,
especially a Liberal Democrat who’s running for president.
I assume Bill Richards has thought about the repercussions
of calling an ally that despicable phrase.

I used to think Richardson had some snap…no longer. These people don’t get that the US needs to speak with one voice when it comes to forgein affairs….Is Palosi going to Pakistan to solve this one???
jimwesty on January 3, 2008 at 5:31 PM
This the last state for Richardson?

What a bunch of fucking idiots. I refuse to believe that the people of the United States will turn the most important political position in the world over to one of them.
I.Refuse.To.Believe.It.
(This is the same mindset that had so many liberals suicidal in January of 2001)

This is the Bill Richardson who was Bill Clinton’s Energy Secretary- who prided himself on how much he was able to restrict energy production of any kind in this country, thought that screaming “Conservation!” at every turn constituted an “Energy Policy”- oh, and also thought Gray Davis’ tenure as governor of California was a model of how a state’s “energy policy” should be run.
And now he’s a foreign policy expert.
I bet he can even find Outer Slobovia on a map. (Hint; It only exists in the Dilbert comic strip, Bill.)
Calling him a “menace” is too kind.
“Gibbering psychotic dingbat” is probably closer to the mark.
The scary part is, he handily encapsulates the mainstream of what passes for “thought” in the Democratic Party’s leadership today.
cheers

I was going to say “who cares, Richardson doesn’t stand a chance”…. but I guess this matters somewhat, because he stands a decent chance (though I don’t think I’d say it’s “likely”) of getting a VP slot. If’n he does get the VP nod from Cacklinton, then he should be roasted for this.
RightWinged on January 3, 2008 at 6:06 PM
Just another idiot that whanabee the VP.
SIJ6141 on January 3, 2008 at 6:24 PM
If we could get Bill Richardson to somehow run as Veep on a ticket with Mike Huckabee we would instantly have the two ABSOLUTE DUMBEST men in American politics EVAH together in one package.
Always Right on January 3, 2008 at 6:32 PM
Notice I said two dumbest MEN…
For the two Dumbest WOMEN we have to get Rosie to serve as Veep for the Glacier.
Always Right on January 3, 2008 at 6:34 PM
It was in a fit of anger, after Richardson offered Mushie his delegates in return for the Paki VP slot and got turned down.
JiangxiDad on January 3, 2008 at 7:16 PM
Richardson was against the border fence, screwing around with domestic security before screwing America with his international ignorance.
How depressing, Kay Bailey Hutchison cut funding for the border fence, according to Michael Savage tonight.
Sifting through all of the border fence senate legislation is boggling as I wonder whether the vote is already cast into stone.
What a drag on the new year!

eon:
I remember being astonished when Richardson reemerged as a candidate for public office. His tenure as Secretary of Energy was a running public joke. In terms of political memory, however, we apparently went directly from Bush I to Bush II.
JM Hanes on January 3, 2008 at 8:48 PM
The only reason Bill decided to run for POTUS was that it got him out of the Roundhouse away from his good buddy Manny Aragon’s corruption trial.
Frantic Freddie on January 3, 2008 at 8:52 PM
This man cannot be adequately overestimated. He is a boob.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Democratic Party is riddled with al Qaeda sympathizers and they’re all either running for office or already elected.
