According to people who actually know, I’m told $1,878,138 has been raised since the debate on December 12 from 24,949 people, including $719,534 from 10,237 people. For the week before, week of and week after Christmas, I think that’s pretty good. The Politico might not think so, but I think it gets Fred to South Carolina.

Frankly, regardless of the results today in Iowa (and he’s going to do better than some are expecting), I think Fred Thompson needs to pull a Reagan ’81 (i.e. make a big, bold “I ain’t going anywhere” stand), march to South Carolina, and start throwing punches.

Clinton lost Iowa and New Hampshire before winning South Carolina and coming back. Fred has the online support. He’s going to do better than people expect in Iowa (he actually is). Huckabee is going to beat Romney today so those two are going to fight like drag queens wearing the same dress to a party. Fred needs to leverage these three things and go to South Carolina.

If nothing else, the hit job in today’s Politico should piss him off enough that he does just that.

Along with the rise of a liberal-on-everything except abortion Huckabee, this is one of the most disheartening things about this campaign season and it shows to what pathetic lows the Republican party has sunk. If the Republican party stupid enough to nominate a guy who’s pissed all over us again and again, so much so that Democrats were seriously urging him to cross the aisle, then we deserve the shellacking we will get in the general and we deserve a president Hillary or Obama.

My view is that John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Huckabee are no better, or different then Hillary, Obama, or Silky.

For what it’s worth, Hannity predicts a Mitt win today.

New Hampshire? I hope not. He’s got to get into South Carolina and depending on what happens tonight, either blunt Huckabee’s momentum in the south or finish Huckabee off.

If Thompson doesn’t make it through, I’m pretty much done with the Republican party.

McCain is a great man, but his immigration stance has lost my vote for life.

Huckabee is a RINO. Horrible fiscal conservative. Horrible on crime. No foreign policy experience. He is Jimmy Carter.

Romney is a viable candidate in my opinion, but I just don’t trust him. At least I know what I am getting with Obama.

Fred Thompson is the only conservative that is right on all the issues… immigration, economy, foreign policy, government, social security, medicare, etc.

Don’t give up Fred. I’m voting for ya.

Weird. I would have laid a wager that he was affiliated with both. I’m certain I’ve heard him introduced as Politico’s Chuck Todd, but maybe I heard wrong or the host spoke erroneously and it’s just stuck in my memory. Looks like Hotline was his previous employment.

Romney 18%, McCain 17%, the Huckster 16%. I can’t see how Thompson can drop out in this situation. The contest is fluid, and Giuliani’s supporters are going to go looking for a more viable candidate. (I know I have.) I……
