Fox declares Barack Obama the winner on the Dem side Updates: Flag on the floor at Clinton HQ

Just across from Brit Hume. No word on the margin of victory yet.
Update (AP): NBC’s called it too. Don’t look now, but with about 75% reporting, Obama’s lead is five points and rising.
The Glacier headed for third? Stay tuned.
Update (AP): Let it be noted that Chris Dodd, nutroots darling, is at .03% with most of the votes counted.
Update: Dodd was on MSNBC earlier today and said that if he didn’t do well in Iowa he would be heading back to Hartford. Done, in other words.
Update: I’m no fan of Obama’s politics, but you have to hand it to him. Edwards has been campaigning in Iowa for months; Hillary is the inEVITAble frontrunner; Iowa is 95% white. But Obama, the first-term senator with no real record, beat them both. That’s historic. His win may be the biggest story of the night.
Update: A sharp eyed commenter saw this on Fox’s site. It’s from the Clinton HQ in Des Moines, prior to her rally, but still…

Update: Obama beat Clinton among women, 35-30. Wow.

Question is if Hill stays in 3rd.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 9:33 PM
Yeah, Obama took it. The real race is for number 2. Up in the air, though Silky’s been ahead all night.
Vanceone on January 3, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Well now, isn’t that interesting!
Obama winning over “the world’s smartest woman” and the guy (read idiot) who did very well in 2004- good enough he became the VP nominee.
Could it actually be that Hillary has dropped from heir apparent to wannabe status within the ranks of the “rat” party? Too early to make that conclusion but if Hillary loses significantly in Iowa and New Hampshire (conservative midwest and rabid liberal northeast)- Game Over for a Clinton dynasty.
highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 9:35 PM
The difference between second and third is only a few votes.
ulyses on January 3, 2008 at 9:35 PM
How long before Bill Clinton will say “Now, remember, aaa was ey comeback kid too?”

IS THAT THE AMERICAN FLAG CRUMPLED ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO HILLARY’S SIGN???
MadisonConservative on January 3, 2008 at 9:42 PM
As far as the Democrats I know, she was never the shoo-in the media (and some Conservatives) assumed she was. If nothing else I think they at least realize Hillary is the most vulnerable and at best they realize she’s a fraud.
SouthernDem on January 3, 2008 at 9:43 PM
The Clintons will make it really ugly in NH.
Entelechy on January 3, 2008 at 9:43 PM
FIFY, to account for his recent mysterious speech impediment.
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 9:44 PM
Thank you RB – you know the dialect better anyway :)
Entelechy on January 3, 2008 at 9:46 PM
Obama really rubbed her nose in it tonight. Hillary is probably so PO’d, she might explode and hit Mars before the asteroid!
Love the update on Dodd, that miserable loser.
Zorro on January 3, 2008 at 9:47 PM
We should root for her to make it as the nominee. The other two are way harder to beat. This evening is nothing to celebrate for, on both sides.
Entelechy on January 3, 2008 at 9:48 PM
Let me ask you this. If the Dems win in 08 who is better for the country?
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 9:49 PM
NH voters don’t play nice like Iowa and don’t get turned turned off by negative adds. I also don’t think the folksy act of Huckabee will work in NH
KBird on January 3, 2008 at 9:51 PM
It sure looks like it Madison. Shame on those people.
Zorro on January 3, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Would that surprise you?
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Bryan, I’m pretty sure the Hillary/flagpole/Waterloo story was blogged here at HA, and I tried a search so I could link to it in the vault. Keyword unsuccessful. This isn’t the first time this has happened, and I would much rather link to an internal page. What am I doing wrong?
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 9:57 PM
Doesn’t have to surprise me to make me want to track down the moron who dropped it and throw them off a building.
MadisonConservative on January 3, 2008 at 9:58 PM
I completely agree.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 9:58 PM
Not so fast. That could turn out to be an incredibly useful image.
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 10:03 PM
So much for inherited racism.
Speakup on January 3, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Hey guys,
Obama is the winner tonight. look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwog6E08CFU
Shouldn’t Presidents be willing to render respect when the national anthem is sung (no matter who awful that rendering is?) If B Hussein claims this lack of respect is a religious thing, doesn’t that open the door to explore his Islamic roots and his racist Christian church?
highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Has Obama ever been specific about his policy positions? Or has everything he has ever said been vague generalities?
rockhauler on January 3, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Manufactured outrage. That singer was atrocious btw!
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:07 PM
You are right.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:07 PM
RB, here it is.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Wouldn’t you consider this manufactured outrage as well? I doubt Hillary personally put it on the floor.
SouthernDem on January 3, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Manufactured outrage? How so?
I asked legitimate questions and am curious why a man knowing he was on tape with other contestants in the “rat” version of Political Idol would find his crotch more interesting than putting hand to heart when the national anthem wa being played.
highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 10:11 PM
Yeah. I think so.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:12 PM
How did you do that?
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Shouldn’t Presidents be willing to render respect –
Yeah, absolutely. I didn’t see him doing anything disrespectful there.
If B Hussein claims this lack of respect is a religious thingDid he?
Hm, I suppose so – if he said it was religious based.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:16 PM
I said, RushBaby needs this information! So I changed in the phone booth real quick. Seriously, I just guessed right on the keyword.
Highhopes, sorry for the mixed format above.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Anyone wanna bet that Hillary is calling Obama names that would make Imus blush?
fogw on January 3, 2008 at 10:19 PM
Dude. You’re invited to my party!
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 10:19 PM
The untold story is the flag was unaware it would be at a Hillary function and well the idea was so vile to the flag, It threw itself on the floor to commite suicide.
Soon to be replaced with a flag that was made in CHINA
Hillary lies flags die .
Mojack420 on January 3, 2008 at 10:20 PM
That’s the meme.
RushBaby on January 3, 2008 at 10:22 PM
If you promise you don’t have any lead boxes lying around.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:24 PM
That’s what I thought too, but John Edward’s speech just now on Hannity and Colmes was a real barn burner.
As I have said many times on other threads, when the leftist activist doesn’t get what they want, they don’t give up they escalate.
Oh… wait… here comes Hillary.
rockhauler on January 3, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Two-thirds voted for anti-Hillary candidates. If Edwards voters move over to Obama, or visa versa, Hil’s in trouble.
petefrt on January 3, 2008 at 10:27 PM
vice versa :(
petefrt on January 3, 2008 at 10:28 PM
A black man wins a presidential primary in the United States of America. Previously it has only been dreamed of. No other African American has polled more than single digits ever. This is truly a historical night for the USA no matter your politics. Take a moment to soak it in. Congratulations Barack Obama.
paulsur on January 3, 2008 at 10:34 PM
Shouldn’t these questions be answered before we end up with a President that appears to be “pleasuring himself” whenever the national anthem is being played?
Should Obama best “her thighness” as the rat nominee, this kind of stuff is tame to the scrutiny that he will recieve. Is your guy ready for that? I don’t think so.
highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Step back a moment here Paulsur-
I understand your racist euphoria here but here’s the bitter truth. Dr. Rice is more “black” than Obama and she has been treated in reprehensible ways because she doesn’t fit the mold of Republican-hating ghetto trash who had to rely on affirmative action to get to high office.
Why is it that two successive African-Americans rose to the highest cabinet position possible under a Republican administration after a liberal who declared himself the first black president refused to elevate any blacks to the top tier? Are you really expecting us to show excitement when a mixed race candidate wins one (of 50) primaries now because the candidate happens to be a Democrat?
Real diversity happens while the “race counters” are fixated on this kind of crap.
highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Man, I want her to win….I want to beat the crap out of her in the general…
Tim Burton on January 3, 2008 at 10:48 PM
If standing with your hands clasped in front of you is “pleasuring yourself” you should write a book and sell it to Sting. He stood there respectfully and then clapped at the end. Totally manufactured outrage.
If this is what the RNC and co roll out at Obama should he wins the Democrat nomination, I will be embarrassed for the RNC. Just because someone does it doesn’t make it either right or appropriate. I am not one of these voters.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Poor Barak… he’s being fitted for a body bag as we speak…
D2Boston on January 3, 2008 at 10:53 PM
Your post makes absolutely no sense to me. (second time)
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Forget I ever posted you in the first place. I don’t even care at this point.

“Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.”
Dr. Charles G. Waugh on January 3, 2008 at 10:56 PM
Heh. Good call.
Spirit of 1776 on January 3, 2008 at 11:01 PM
Throughout this entire process Obama scares me more than any other Democrat. If he is the nominee he will be virtually unstoppable barring something crazy. Why other conservatives don’t understand this and actually like him, atleast more so than the other Democrat candidates, is astound to me. And the Hillary hate on our side is unfounded imo considering she’s be far more responsible in the WH than B. Hussein Obama or the Breck girl. And he is the most liberal of any of the Dem leading candidates and to me, seriously, brings up a serious possibility of being the anti-Christ. The fact that seemingly no one sees that and actual conservatives don’t really mind him is disturbing and telling to me.

Dr Waugh, my girlfriend was in your psychology class at UMA in 2006.

Dude, I’m not an Obama supporter. I’m not even a Democrat. So I say this as a one human being to another: seek help.
baldilocks on January 3, 2008 at 11:17 PM
Biden drops out!
FishFearMe on January 3, 2008 at 11:18 PM
What about the photo of O’bama not putting his hand over his heart for the national anthem? That needs to be run all over the media. If there are any smart stratigists out there on either side they will show that photo over and over and over. Just think, O’Bama Hussien thinks he can actually be president? God help our nation.
Winebabe on January 3, 2008 at 11:20 PM
Folks are getting so scared they’re repeating themselves.

highhopes on January 3, 2008 at 11:25 PM
He was crawling.
FishFearMe on January 3, 2008 at 11:26 PM
Wow, called racist, and taken to task for Bill Clinton’s turd. Double for me tonight, ding! Ding!
1st, I am not democrap. 2nd, I am in no way an Obama supporter, I just stated what is obvious, and what is indeed historical, what none of us cant take away.
Now on to the cheese, I don’t care if he wins the democrap nomination (and I do not think he will win), because we are going to thump him hard. He has no foreign policy experience, he is a class warfare socialist, if we stick to the issues, we pound him in a landslide in the general election. Nuff said, goodnight. Damn, get called a racist for congratulating the man for winning, damn. sheeze you guys….
paulsur on January 3, 2008 at 11:34 PM
Dude, we’re individuals here. Consider the source.
baldilocks on January 3, 2008 at 11:39 PM
I’ll vote for the Republican nominee over Obama, because he is so far left. But he does seem like a decent guy, and I agree with those who find the hand-position issue silly. I only learned here recently that placing the hand over the heart was preferred to simply standing attentively during the anthem.
mikeyboss on January 3, 2008 at 11:43 PM
+1. Historic day today.
Spirit of 1776 on January 4, 2008 at 12:27 AM
First caucus hardly an election makes. Long road ahead-don’t get stuck in the mudslinging.
Doug on January 4, 2008 at 1:10 AM
While I’m no fan of Hillary, I’m sure she would object to the flag being disrespected so. However, this goes to show the level of care typical democrats have for our stars and stripes. We kicked a kid out of the Air Force over here in Germany, and the punk now works for Hillary 08 in…Iowa. He was a disrespectful bastard.
Maybe I should rethink Hillary after all and stop giving her the benefit of the doubt?
Black Adam on January 4, 2008 at 2:42 AM
Obama Girl FTW!
Never underestimate the power of YouTube cheesecake.

Yes, but how many movies has she been in with Kevin Bacon?

Who does Hillary throw ashtrays at these days? Whoever it is, they’d better be ready to duck. Often.
Qzsusy on January 4, 2008 at 8:59 AM
Bad night for Her Inevitableness, now Her Maybeness.
.
Dare I think: it’s just that a majority of American adults just do no like or trust Hillary Clinton.
DavePa on January 4, 2008 at 10:13 AM
I sure is big bright and out there that Edwards could not deliver even his home state in 2004 presidential race. He finished second in Iowa 4 years ago and had all the network setup for this run with a LOT of work on the ground over the last few years there. This makes him a loser in a big way. Since he campaigned so darned hard there, does this not make anyone think that a heck of a lot of Iowan think of him as a liar who is always looking for an excuse to go back on what he has said.
Hillary’s flag on the floor sure tells a lot about what her staff concentrates on, and it is not respect for America.
I had been watching Huck’s politics closely after his involvement with Newt’s American Solutions big workshop day, as well as Newt’s comments. Huck is definitely a good politician, but will that be enough when all the dust settles.
Fred still in the race sure does ease many sense of concern on my part. If McCain is the last man standing then my vote will definitely go for him in the presidential race, but not until that time.
