Video: Hillary’s two-minute closing argument to Iowans

It’s airing tonight during Iowa’s 6 p.m. evening news. Hard-pressed to find anything to say about this dial tone of an ad, Marc Ambinder throws in the towel. I watched it twice and the only parts I remember are “pie and coffee” and people whispering to her about what they want for “Christmas.”

Jobs, health care, government reform, alternative energy, Iraq: Never has so much been promised to so many while saying so little.

They don’t realize the when she says “change America” she means change as in “change a baby”.

Talk about a soft camera focus…and maybe a little vaseline on the lens.

Jim-Rose on January 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM

she does look good though

zane on January 2, 2008 at 11:01 AM

Is that Grace Kelly’s zombified corpse?

MadisonConservative on January 2, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Give credit where it’s due: her hair and makeup people finally got it right; I’ve never seen her look as good as she does here.

radjah shelduck on January 2, 2008 at 11:03 AM

Sounds a little like Melissa Etheridge with a cigarette. No hidden meaning there.

Spirit of 1776 on January 2, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Amazing what makeup and Barbra Streisand lighting can do.

KelliD on January 2, 2008 at 11:04 AM

hmmm pie.

amend2 on January 2, 2008 at 11:06 AM

Does she really think the US is in that bad shape? i almost expect to see food and gas lines next time I go out.

ctmom on January 2, 2008 at 11:06 AM

On the radio this morning I heard Hillary Clinton give a pre-emptive excuse for why she didn’t win the Iowa caucus. It almost made me throw up. It pretty much boiled down to women don’t like the non-anonymity of a caucus so they won’t show up. She basically said that women feel more comfortable going into a voting booth, checking their boxes privately rather then letting their candidate of choice be known to a whole room of people. So now we know. If Hillary loses Iowa its because women need their privacy.

Seriously, that woman knows no shame.

Zetterson on January 2, 2008 at 11:07 AM

There’s got to be something wrong with the audio. I only heard clicks & whistles.

The video? Dry heaves are painful…

*whispering*

LEAVE MY COUNTRY ALONE!

RushBaby on January 2, 2008 at 11:17 AM

an apple a day will keep my nightmares away

blatantblue on January 2, 2008 at 11:20 AM

Wow, only the second day of the new year and already I’m looking forward to a new job, better pay and “free health care”.

Let’s bypass the elections and put her in office NOW. /s/

SPIFF1669 on January 2, 2008 at 11:21 AM

She certainly will change America . . . to reflect the teachings of Karl Marx. Watch out! This woman is very dangerous.

rplat on January 2, 2008 at 11:23 AM

I’ve noticed that she has taken to whispering lately. I saw some footage the other day where she said something about not having to shout and began to speak in hushed tones. I wonder who her acting coach is.

Shrillary is out! Whispillery is in!

I can’t stand Hillary and am still amazed she managed to get elected to the Senate. How the hell did that happen?

But I thought it was a good ad.

Jaynie59 on January 2, 2008 at 11:25 AM

Hurry up and win already, will ya Hill?

The general is coming.
The general is coming.
The general is coming.

Here come da general.

After leading many polls but then coming in 3rd in Iowa Howie Dean captured the internet with his “I have a scream” rant.

Will Whispillary be able to top that epic moment with a brave new cackle?

Oh, I hope so.

Come spend a week in New York, and you’ll see why.

blatantblue on January 2, 2008 at 11:28 AM

She is talking to the Iowans as if they were children and she is their mother. “Come to me and I will kiss you and make it feel better.” That, I think, is the message of this ad.

bnelson44 on January 2, 2008 at 11:37 AM

I should have said, “Come to me and I will kiss you and make it all better.” That, I think, is the message of this ad.

Will Whispillary Whisphillary be able to top that epic moment with a brave new cackle?

I kinda screwed that up the first time!

I look forward to Shhhhhillary trying to suppress the cackle.

Yeah, like blatantblue insinuated above, NYC is the Moonbat heartland. It’s all-encompassing, and everyone shares in it, from the guy who runs the corner bodega to every single lawyer in the firm to each passenger on the subway car. It is a monolithic and unavoidable groupthink that is stunning to behold. Even the babies have BDS.

Kensington on January 2, 2008 at 11:48 AM

I don’t particularly want America to change. I actually LIKE being the world’s only super power with low inflation, low interest rates, and low unemployment. It’s so good here that people break the law and risk their lives to be here.

What is there to fix? Oh yeah, they have to make the government bigger and more intrusive to ensure that we are ‘free’. She should have just said, we are going to tax the crap out of you so that the insurance companies can’t get the money.

ThackerAgency on January 2, 2008 at 11:49 AM

Gauze filter is erase all the wrinkles, but she is really getting puffy.

Can a woman get elected by asking America to like her? Her husband did.

Hening on January 2, 2008 at 11:57 AM

Amazing lighting. They hired the best DP in the country. She almost looks human. I still couldn’t watch it, though. Any thing but Shhillary.

bnelson44 on January 2, 2008 at 12:21 PM

Wow – the best ‘raising the dead’ special effects since Resident Evil 3.

I think a side-by-side comparison is in order – one frame from this video, and that snapshot of her going door-to-door in Iowa. There’s a veritable goldmine there for some lucky cosmetics manufacturer.

Shhhhhillary – heh :P
That about sums it up.

Did she take voice lessons from Kimi Raikonnen?

“Help me change America.” Yes, vote for me, so that I can reduce America into just another Socialist shithole. Where the Party elite have all the money – like they always have -and the People will be satisfied to stand in the queues for luxuries like milk and bread. Yes, “help me change America” into a nation of cattle, waiting to be cared for by the State.

Vote for me Comrades. The Socialist Utopia awaits.

Dear God, I need a shower….to get the creepy crawlies off of my skin.

Do you think Comrade Hillary will allow us to take showers in our new worker’s paradise?

(Hypnotic, don’t look her directly in eyes)Notice her shaking her head side2side sublimally as she purred the phrase:”I will stand up for you everyday as president”.
Wonder how many takes that took? Too many eye-blinks, take two. Too stern, take eight. Over-board mushy, nobody’s going to buy that outta her, take twenty. Get a new camera operator in here, this one’s got frostbite, take forty-one. All right people, her facial rage lines are back, let’s break for lunch while the make-up crew breaks out the putty spreaders.
I don’t mind a woman for POTUS, it’s not that, just not Hillary. I bet Margaret Thatcher would not be afraid of FOXnews. Compare the Iron Lady to Hillary and she comes out looking like the glass lady, one question away from her flimsy credentials being shattered to reveal her true conviction… she is entitled to sit in the Oval Office.

For all who think she “looks good” – consider this – she still looks/smells/sounds natural to whoever wakes up next to her in the morning.

If we’re not vigilant, that will be all of America, around the beginning of 2009.

And that’s real ugly!

RushBaby on January 2, 2008 at 2:29 PM

That was creepy like Marilyn Manson.

A new love? Change America? The inane promises were just a lead-in to the real horror.

The woman’s Marxist leanings are no mystery, and she really seems to think that she can do things like make “the system” give everyone cheap high-quality healthcare. Yeah, maybe if she enslaves all the doctors, nationalizes the pharmaceuticals, and… well, not even then.

And all this from a woman who thinks Benazair Bhutto was running for President. Against Sharif. Even her staff must be ignorant and incompetent.

I think this is almost creepier than the “Christmas Present” ad, where she up and stated that in her mind, the President was there to “give gifts” of billions of dollars (from magic fairy trees) to the childlike masses.

I blame the MSM and the NEA for the fact that this woman has not been run out of town on a rail.

Merovign on January 2, 2008 at 3:01 PM

Hillary is more vibrant and youthful than Fred and McCain. Both of these men look like gatecrashers at a mausoleum. If we continue to focus on looks, it will come back to haunt us.

Her cackle and fake laugh on the other hand are directly tied to her message. She uses that fake laugh defensively. It’s grating and I would love to see one of the candidates or even Stephen Colbert do a one minute montage of her cackling in response to simple questions.

The HotAir cackle clips are very entertaining.

Remember the Dean scream? I think it helped to do him in and changed him from contender to cariacature.
