I see we’re back to playing the dictionary game.

prick (n) – obscene terms for penis. I’ll spare all of us the synonyms for the word, as well as the C word which describes the female version of the word which you hilariously claim is not a profanity.

I see that if we are to follow your standards we can say prick, but cannot use asterisks to indicate what we mean without saying the word. I hope everyone gets that message, including those who run this blog.

I see that “eff” is in the dictionary too, so I erred when I said it wasn’t profane. I think of it as a word to replace an obscene word but not obscene in itself, but I stand corrected and will refrain from using it in the future. Maybe I’ll find a way to sneak the acronymn SNAFU in instead and await indignant responses.

As for my “act”, the fact is that I could not care less if you use the word “prick”. I only mentioned it to point out Entelechy’s double standard when it comes to acceptable language.

I have spent the morning going through numerous Mitt threads and I can’t find a single one where I said anything to Entelechy, except to respond to something she initiated, and even then I find nothing that could objectively be construed as a personal attack on her. The single exception is this one, which was not in any way intended to be negative. There was a misunderstanding here which I thought I had corrected, and which I apologized for. Maybe it is still in her consciousness, or unconsciousness as it were?

My quarrel all along has been with Blather and not with Entelechy. Until now that is, and then it occurred only after she initiated it with her New Year’s Eve remarks and her “learn not to take things personal” comment that came out of nowhere. The irony in that advice does not escape me.

Futher, I have additional recent examples of where she and Blather made snarky comments about me, not the other way around, on a thread where I was not even present until the end. Once again, I did not initiate anything.

It is noteworthy that at the end she encourages Blather to continue to “annoy” other commenters (golly, who could she have in mind here?/sarc). She might argue that this was all in good fun, and that argument would work if not for her other remarks. She can also cite her compliments to me, but when they are followed up with really nasty remarks, it’s patronizing at the very least.

Do I have a caustic style? Yes. Have I chosen to use it against Entelechy…up until now? Absolutely not, and even then it is only because she has pushed my patience to the limit.

I hadn’t said anything to Entelechy. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. But she had a lot to say to me, and it was all about Blather.

Frankly, my dear, at this point I don’t give a damn. Oops! Hope it’s okay to use that word!

As I said, I’m not a mind-reader and she has hardly been an angel in her comments to me, so here goes. Earlier tonight she upbraided me for using the “profanity” “eff” (which I don’t consider a profanity, but that’s just me I guess).

However she applauded Madison Conservative earlier today at the America the Beautiful thread after he (?) said:

I really appreciate your input. I don’t know that Entelechy even recalls what she said to me on New Year’s Eve. She has a way of saying something nice on the one hand, but then pulling out the long knives at the same time.

She also went from telling me how courageous I was and how much she enjoyed my comments even if she disagreed with me, to telling me that I was thin-skinned and a bore in the space of 24 hours, which is confusing to say the least.

I had not said anything to her that was mean-spirited. I hardly made any comments at all on New Year’s Eve, and the one that I made inititially was in response to snarky comments that were being made about me and others (including a comment by Blather) when I wasn’t even there.

All my animus was directed at Professor Blather, and she inserted herself in that, complained that I was “nitpicky” and making “anti-Blather” attacks, when it was just the opposite in my view. She told me how marvelous and witty he was and how she’d love to dine with him, but not me, blah blah blah.

I ignored that comment and moved on. The next thing I know she’s telling me that I need to learn not to get “personal” as a response to my comment about W and religion.

I’m not a mind-reader, so unless she tells me what it is that bothered her I will go to my grave not knowing what the problem was.

I had no idea until tonight that English was not your first language (although I do have to admit that I don’t always understand what you are saying). Now the mystery is solved in that regard.

Entelechy, I like you and don’t mean any offense at all by this, but I don’t always completely understand your comments either. Most of the time your English is very good but once in a while I’ll read one of your comments twice and still not be certain what you meant to say.

Is Buy Danish correct that the following statement is the one that seemed to cause offense?

I disagree with Entelechy that it was and is a problem with W. I think W has handled his religion just fine and he did not use his religion as a calculated move to appeal to social conservatives.

I don’t see how this statement could be interpreted as a personal attack. If you two have some bad blood from a previous thread back on New Years the above statement would still not be a personal attack of any sort, only a disagreement. If this is the case, all of your later statements that were directed at Buy Danish were unfair and uncalled for. In more than one of your subsequent comments you’ve assumed offense that I don’t believe Buy Danish intended, all of which probably resulted from the original misunderstanding.

My “innocent” comment refers to what you said to me on New Year’s Eve. (You also made a comment earlier about “needling” other commenters, and golly if I didn’t get the idea that you were alluding to me at that point, but I digress). To the best of my recollection, I had not said anything to you on New Years’. Nothing. Not a word. You chose to come in on a high horse and get in the middle of my argument with Blather when I called him a Blowhard for having launched yet another of his long-winded salvos at me, this time over the definition of “terror attack”.

I am not playing any roles, I am telling you the truth when I say I don’t have a clue what it is that you objected to. Why can’t you just come out and tell me what it was that I said which set off your response to me last night?

I do not hold “foreigners” in disdain, and my half-siblings are “foreigners” themselves and live in Europe. I certainly don’t hold it against people for being Polyglots, and would be happy to be one myself.

Believe me, I have no love lost for Blather, but I have never had animus towards you whatsoever so I don’t know what precipitated this indignant response.
