Open thread: Will the Patriots go 16-0?

posted at 9:24 pm on December 29, 2007 by Bryan

I’m a little late getting this posted, it being late in the second quarter and the score 16-14 Patriots. What say you, Hot Air heads? Will Brady & co do it?

Update: Patriots win, 38-35.

I wondered if a thread on this was upcoming. It pains my cowboy fan soul deeply to say this but GO GIANTS!!!!

Bryan on December 29, 2007 at 9:26 PM

Oh, come on now. Their fans may be insufferable, but you gotta admit, the Pats are pretty damn good.

BacaDog on December 29, 2007 at 9:30 PM

O’Hara’s injury makes me realize something. The Pats are playing like a team that wants to win the Super Bowl more than they want to win this game.

Slublog on December 29, 2007 at 9:32 PM

I have to admit Bryan, I am switching back and forth between this game and the Alamo Bowl with the Aggies and Penn State. It also pains my Texas Tech Red Raider soul deeply to say this…..Gig em!

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 9:34 PM

Answer – yes.

From the “I never thought I’d say this” file:
Thank you John Kerry!

This game reminds me how much I don’t like Bryant Gumbel.

Can the G-men punch it in before the half? I am betting yes!

As a Pats fan since 1978 I care.

F15Mech on December 29, 2007 at 9:45 PM

Got to be the best I’ve seen Manning play all year.

flyboy777 on December 29, 2007 at 9:45 PM

Bryant Gumbel seems to pattern his style on Joe Thiesman.

They are equally idiotic!

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 9:45 PM

This game reminds me how much I don’t like Bryant Gumbel.

Slublog on December 29, 2007 at 9:37 PM

Collinsworth isn’t bad and I am very happy not to have to listen to Al Micheals or Joe Buck. And not seeing the Olberdouche at the half makes me a happy camper.

infidel on December 29, 2007 at 9:46 PM

Gimme that old time religion upset!

Limerick on December 29, 2007 at 9:47 PM

Oh no! I am stuck with Neon Deon. Kill me now.

infidel on December 29, 2007 at 9:50 PM

Honestly though. Which is more important? To lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs or to stop the Patriots on the last week of the season? If the Giants win this one, it’ll be remembered longer than their exit from the playoffs. Play all out boys!

Spirit of 1776 on December 29, 2007 at 9:52 PM

The Pats will pull this one out easy.

Griz on December 29, 2007 at 9:53 PM

Spirit of 1776 on December 29, 2007 at 9:59 PM

I’m a Broncos fan. Have been since, geez, before Colorado became a state.

You remember when they went 13-0 a decade ago? Well, they played the Dolphins and Giants the next two weeks. Lost to ‘em both.

This year the Pats are playing the Dolphins and Giants over these last two weeks.

(cue spooky music)

I’m thinking a late Giants touchdown (pass) to Amani Toomer is gonna win this. That’s what killed my Broncos lo those many years ago.

In fact, I’m predicting it. Manning to Toomer inside of two minutes left to clinch it.

SECOND LOOK AT TOOMER!

Bryan on December 29, 2007 at 10:07 PM

Ditto!

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 10:09 PM

Trust me. I have foreseen the future. The game will tighten up. Toomer gets the winning catch. It has all been foretold.

The stupid is strong with this one. Give me credit.

wccawa on December 29, 2007 at 10:10 PM

This is getting interesting. I’m just afraid eli will fold and start throwing interceptions. He has yet to gain the composure of peyton.

Complete7 on December 29, 2007 at 10:11 PM

time to intercept Brady.

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 10:12 PM

There are a whole bunch of greying Dolphins right now grinning from ear to ear.

Pats by 16 when the smoke clears.

Griz on December 29, 2007 at 10:14 PM

At 28 16, it snot looking good right now, but the Chowdaheads have been in worse positions.

Let’s go Pats!

SJBill on December 29, 2007 at 10:17 PM

not over by a longshot. the Pats are devils, therefore capable of doing whatever it takes to slake their thirst for human souls.

Mike D. on December 29, 2007 at 10:30 PM

Wow, these Giants might just pull it off!

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Slightly off topic, the Aggies just tied it up 17 all.

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 10:40 PM

This is better than the Suoerbowl. . . Go Giants.

Texyank on December 29, 2007 at 10:41 PM

I think this is the Giant’s superbowl

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 10:42 PM

Afraid the Giants will fold in the 4th. They haven’t been successful lately later in the game. Was hoping for a time out. Someone got to yell at Manning, hit him in the back of the head, “don’t screw up, darn it! ” Well different words than that.

StuLongIsland on December 29, 2007 at 10:44 PM

StuLongIsland on December 29, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Yeah, fourth down and only five points up is no time to drop a snap. Someone calm that boy down.

Slublog on December 29, 2007 at 10:45 PM

Ack. Fourth quarter, that is.

Of course, Brady isn’t playing too well this evening, either.

Slublog on December 29, 2007 at 10:46 PM

Um…what I just said?

Yeah, that was a bit premature.

Slublog on December 29, 2007 at 10:47 PM

That’s the only problem with Eli, he ain’t his brother.

Damn it, same play!

conservnut on December 29, 2007 at 11:08 PM

This is why the Giants will not go too far after this, they fail in the 4th. You have to say, they gave it their all. For a game that didn’t matter too much, the Professionals gave it their all and put on a Professional show for us fans. NFL Net had to get great ratings than if was just on NFL Network, made lots of money for their advertisers and the networks. Would like to see the ratings. Saturday Night, Winter, cold, what else to do, either go to bar watch in mass, buy lots of beer or at home with family, friends and friends online.
