You have b*tched about Mitt’s missionary work in France (it was in the lap of luxury, dontcha know!), repeatedly expressed resentment about his “privileged” background, claimed that he needed help to get a job when he got out of college despite his advanced degrees, claimed his work with the Olympics was tainted, blamed him for problems with the Big Dig and accused him of corruption, published lengthy manifestos which rail against his religion, ad nauseum.

Now you accuse him of “buying votes”. How does that work exactly? Is he promising a chicken in every pot, or is he paying off primary voters with cash?

Interesting link. I’m not sure if this will still hold true though:

The expectation is that now they will vote three to one for a Democrat in next year’s primary. It comes down to the war. It remains unpopular in a state with a heavy National Guard investment in the war. That sentiment is affecting McCain’s standing in the state as well.

Since the surge has been effective and things look less gloomy, that could help McCain.

McCain rarely plays to actual conservatives. He thinks that by being a moderate, more people will like him. I know the newspaper endorsments don’t improve his image in my eyes.

I think you’re hitting the nail on the head. His team expects the same percentage of Independents to vote in the Republican primary as have in the past. Current estimates and polls have indicated the opposite -that as many as 70% of Independents are likely to vote Democratic this time around. That significantly shrinks the pool of independents for him to compete for.

How on earth can they figure it is an effective tactic in a Republican primary to cite newspaper endorsements so prominently? Aren’t most of us skeptical of the news media, if not outright hostile to it?

I’m not a one issue guy, but I could NEVER vote for McCain based simply on his record of trying to get amnesty for illegals.

Well we would hate for you to go against your principles.
So let me give you a few more reasons.

1. cozyed up with the liberal democrats and torpedoed free speech with McCain/Feingold
2. Opposed Bush’s tax cuts
3. cozyed up with Teddy Kennedy to push the amnesty bill through to a vote without debate.

I’m sure I can think of a few more,
