Fred reaches fundraising target for new ad? Update: Fred appeals to Fredheads to keep donating

posted at 1:19 pm on December 28, 2007 by Allahpundit
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly

According to the campaign site, with less than five hours to go they’re still $65,000 short. No matter, says Politico — somehow they came up with the balance and will be on the air tomorrow in major cities across Iowa. Can the dream of third place at last be within reach? Don’t stop believing, my friends.

Update: Lame. Everyone knew what Huckabee meant, including the people pretending they didn’t.

Questioning Huckabee’s response to the death of Benazir Bhutto, Thompson, R-Tenn., told a Pella, Iowa, crowd, “I am not sure what Governor Huckabee meant when he said we needed to apologize for this assassination. I am more concerned about people around the world would think when they see a presidential candidate was apologizing for assassination of the former Prime Minister Bhutto.”

Update: Team Fred sends along this video and asks for redoubled efforts to reach the $250K target so that the new ad can run until the caucuses.

What a weird thread…out.of.here.quickly.

Entelechy on December 28, 2007 at 5:20 PM

I wish there was an “ignore” option here. It would be nice to just simply not have to see some people’s posts. Might get a tad confusing from time to time, but I think I could live with it.
wearyman on December 28, 2007 at 4:42 PM

I’ve heard that before, but to me it is an entirely anti-conservative way of looking at things. Not only can I scroll down easily, but I can also CHOOSE NOT to be offended by what a person writes.

The ignore option is already available to each of us. It’s called personal choice.

I don’t recall any Comanche fighters in Tennessee.
It took plenty of pluck to survive & co-exist with the natives in Texas. Tennessee was a breeze compared with Texas. But we Texans hold those from Tennessee in higher regards than just about any other state because Davey Crockett and a group of Tennessee riflemen came to Texas to defend Freedom and shed their blood on our soil. Remember the Alamo! We in Texas have long memories. We never forget a kindness or an insult.

Limerick,

You would know better than I, but wasn’t there a settlement in the west by ex-confederates and displaced southerners, post war? Then there is the fact of Country and Western Music which might be better termed, Southern and Western Music -western garb being the presumptive standard for any aspiring Mississippi Boy, wishing to make it big at the Opry. Only rock-a-billy bucked this trend.

Heh. Texas has their own unique identity, no doubt about it.

I’d say that Utah has a fairly good past, too. We DID have our own war with the Federal Government that basically ended in a draw….. And all the outlaws were too scared to mess with Utah much. We had Billy the Kid, out in the middle of nowhere.

Also, Utah troops were what allowed the United States to claim San Diego, Arizona, and New Mexico from Mexico during the Mexican American war. See Mormon Battalion…. The Territory of Utah as originally proposed was bigger than Texas, too.

There’s lots of tough guys in Texas, yeah…. but don’t knock all others either. :D

Fellas, and ladies, Texas does get uppidy, no doubt about it. One of my pet peeves is the left and right coasters who think Texas owns the cowboy hat. TN, KY, MO, MT, MY, CO, AZ, NM, UT, KS, NB, SD, ND, OK, AR all have their own claim on it. From hard scrabble miners to cattle ranchers, the South and the West are linked together.

Now where the hell did I put that Stars and Bars anyway?

Lazy my A$$!

Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson often schedules walking tours during stops in small Iowa towns, and he didn’t let deep snow change his plans Friday.

Wearing a cowboy hat and leather jacket, Thompson trudged through ankle-deep snow as he made his way around Oskaloosa’s town square, chatting with people at a coffee shop and the county courthouse.

csdeven on December 28, 2007 at 6:06 PM

The connection between the west and the North during the civil war?

It’s interesting. Mostly, the west stayed out of it… there wasn’t much, I think. Utah, California, maybe some people in Oregon. Utah covered the current states of Nevada and utah and a good chunk of Wyoming at the time. California was pretty much neutral, and Utah was left to fend for itself–Lincoln basically said Brigham Young was too tough to deal with at the time for no real reason.

I don’t think Oregon had enough people one way or another to matter. Same with the rest of the west–nothing really big.

The mid 1800’s the big populations were in Utah and California.

Agreed.

And I would like to apologize to all present for feeding him and keeping him going. I should have realized he would bury himself. I’ll save my future rapier wit for wccawa, who dares to challenge me for the fair hand of tickleddragon.

who Nixon thought was stupid.

Nixon also made Elvis an honorary DEA agent. His judgment was not infallible.

How anybody can read comments like Tommylotto’s and CSDeven’s and then, ignoring them, compare Fred supporters with the gaggle of truthers, white-supremacists and anti-Semites that support Ron Paul is beyond me.

Because we can back up are assertions with facts… Why anyone would even consider Fred for POTUS is beyond me.

Not so. Everyone was surprised by the Huckaboom tsunami, and Rudy took a hit like everyone. However, Rudy never once lost his lead in the RCP average of national polls. In fact, his lead has been getting bigger the last few days. He still has a lead in Florida. He will still be the delegate leader on 2/6. Plan A is still on track.

Look, I like cs and have enjoyed a little good natured fun poking with him in the past. It was a red letter day for me one time when he called me one of his 8itches. He will never upset me with the grenades he throws. But some folks are not as thick skinned as I.

I for one look forward to continued bombs.

Surprised by conservative evangelicals not supporting Rudy?

What’s Rudy’s plan once the Huckaboom bursts and the evangelical vote is up for grabs?

What’s Rudy’s plan for Bloomberg?

AQ won’t attack until after the election.

Still Plan A?

Shrews hold nearly 10% of their mass in their brain, a relatively high brain to body mass ratio.

shrew 2.offensive term - an offensive term for a WOMAN who is regarded as quarrelsome, nagging or ill tempered.

Why would Bryan use the term shrew unless he read the persons profile and just had a freudian slip. just sayin…………………………

This is the CSDevin thread. He could easily have his own blog, or sitcom. Fred is Ed McMahon.
