Does he have a foreign accent, or is that just a result of the backwards-sound?

MadisonConservative on December 27, 2007 at 12:53 PM

How did he do that?!

Bob's Kid on December 27, 2007 at 12:54 PM

Now that was different.

Zorro on December 27, 2007 at 12:57 PM

That was freakin amazing!

MadisonConservative on December 27, 2007 at 12:53 PM

It’s due to the difficulty in getting the backwards sound correct. I assume he memorized a backwards recording of the anthem, and did his best (but not perfect) impression of it. The result would be to cut off the first sound in each of the words, and reverse the emphasis on vowels in the new “backwards” recording.

Aw c’mon guys… with video editing software that’s a piece of cake.

ulyses on December 27, 2007 at 1:04 PM

Bashman doesn’t sing but he does a bit of that backwards talking with his “gnarly dude” character.

TBinSTL on December 27, 2007 at 1:06 PM

Bravo. That was most excellent.

Mojave Mark on December 27, 2007 at 1:30 PM

Reminds me of Radiohead:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DQBDsNiCCNM

(I don’t remember if they recorded him singing the lyrics backwards or he just sings them to make it sound that way, but similar idea).

Yoosaion on December 27, 2007 at 1:34 PM

I thought maybe he was singing in a Swedish bookstore.

It’s not the running it backwards part that’s amazing. It’s the singing it backwards part that is awesome.

Yeah…what he said.

Bob's Kid on December 27, 2007 at 1:45 PM

Ah, that young man will go far in life.

Indeed.

I wonder if he’s considered politics?

How do you find this stuff! Pretty good as well.

Zorro on December 27, 2007 at 2:05 PM

I totally believe it was sung backwards… awesome job.

p.s. can you think of any other song you would want to sing as many times as this guy did to get this even close to right? not me… the Land of the Free!

(that is until Billary gets elected, then it’s “from each according to their ability and to each according to their need.” Communism 101)

Kaptain Amerika on December 27, 2007 at 2:09 PM

I’ve seen this kind of thing before, if I’m not wrong,

1. the way you do it is record yourself singing the song forward.
2. then reverse it at the same speed.
3. play the recording to your self over and over and learn to sing along and mimic it.
4. repeat step 3 1000 times or more.
5. record yourself singing the reversed song.
6. reverse again and viola…

someone has some time on their hands or is a Media Major..

That answers the question of whether or not there are satanic messages hidden in our National Anthem.

Can you call it talent if it’s totally useless?

jgapinoy on December 27, 2007 at 4:26 PM

That would be a better way of stating a ball game than some of the trash they sign up to insult or destroy the national anthem.

Heh. And some think just learning English is tough.

IrishEyes on December 27, 2007 at 8:16 PM

I feel foolish. It was sounding familiar in the first half. I was thinking it was a national anthem, but I was trying to make it fit “Oh Canada”.

hadsil on December 28, 2007 at 2:14 AM

certainly didn’t clean my palate…boring, silly, childish
and i actually clicked to see what was up?
must be a very slow news day

Got it at the balloons and first notes.

But my greatest thank you for showing us that we must listen carefully and always observant for those who mean us harm.

Challenging my fence sitting friends with this one, and am finding that a majority sense it to be a political message from Allah and start commenting before they hear the entire piece.
