No. Merely making a point that not all corporations approach their business in the same way.

exploit cheap labor overseas to make a quick buck

Bryan, are you in favor of a plethora of laws & tons of bureaucracy to prevent outsourcing?
Is it inherently immoral to provide good jobs to people who don't happen to be American?

It also takes the focus off him and the fact that he’s a ginormous hypocrite on the subject of wealth.

Yep. Any rich person who expresses concern for poverty is a hypocrite. If they were really that serious about it they'd use millions out of their own pockets and run for president on a platform focusing on easing social inequalities and poverty....psh hypocrites

Seriously though should he just give away all his money or something? How could he no longer be a hypocrite in your eyes? By downplaying problems of equality and advocating supply-side economics?

But wouldn’t it be obviously hipocritical to then assume that all trial lawyers are “scum-sucking ambulance chasers,”

True, and I don't assume that they all are. I do believe that the one who put forward that ad is, though.

John Edwards does have the advantage of precluding his mental state as he reaches his golden years. Great embarrassment or great anger. One or the other... or possibly both. Hurrah for John.

The main point of Bryan’s post is that not all large corporations are the same. I agree 100%. But wouldn’t it be obviously hipocritical to then assume that all trial lawyers are “scum-sucking ambulance chasers,”

Good point sandman.

Could someone please show me a frivilous lawsuit that was tried by John Edwards?

I'm sure someone here would be delighted to help you out on that. Unfortunately its a little late in this thread though and not too many people will see your question. I have a sneaky suspicion though that there will be another Edwards post sometime in the near future. Try to get that question in early. I'm sure you will get some good and detailed answers.

All of this is pretty funny to hear a bunch of people here writing about hipocrisy. The main point of Bryan's post is that not all large corporations are the same. I agree 100%. But wouldn't it be obviously hipocritical to then assume that all trial lawyers are "scum-sucking ambulance chasers," or whatever the new cliche might be?

Could someone please show me a frivilous lawsuit that was tried by John Edwards? Throughout all of this criticism of Edwards, and his days as a lawyer, I have yet to see anything to support this idea that he is an "ambulance-chaser."

According to Johnny then, the only good corporation is the biggest one of them all -- the government. The one that he would like to see grow, and grow, and grow; and profit, and profit, and profit. The one whose employees are not held accountable for their actions. The one trial lawyers must go through hoops of fire (immunity - sovereign and official) just to be able to sue. The one that has special statutes, ordinances, etc., specifying the type of relief afforded to those wronged by it. Yes, big, bad government. The biggest corporation of them all - the one that Johnny would like to be Chairman of the Board for.

It was big corporations that killed the beast.

Big corporations that produce jobs, pay taxes and produce goods are bad

Big union run government, that produces many useless jobs, pays no taxes and produces next to nothing next to the cost to keep them open are good.

John Edwards KNOWS they're stealing...cause he channeled the unborn children and they told him so!!!

But it was the chat while jogging with Chris Reeve that really solidified it for him.

If anyone steals futures, it’s trial lawyers...

I get involved as an expert in construction litigation cases. There are too many plaintiff attorneys who take a single issue and turn it in to the opportunity to sue the general contractor and architect for every little tiny little thing, whether it is a defect or not. This results in 10 different subcontractors being sued, which means 10 different insurance companies and their laywers are now involved, each of whom has their own expert.

In the end, most of the garbage gets mediated out, the plaintiff may or may not receive enough money to fix the original problem, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent on attorney and expert fees. The end result is higher insurance rates for the contractors and higher bids on projects to cover new insurance rates, thus the consumer is paying more for the product but not getting more as the extra costs go to "overhead" and not services.

And all this is due to lawyers trying to maximize a legal complaint instead of protecting the rights of their client.

So, the hypocrisy of John Edwards is that trial lawyers do not necessarily make our lives better, but they do make the costs of goods and services rise. Edwards himself has taken money out of the pocket of the working man he so "courageously" wants to defend and protect. He may be the most dangerous of the Dims big three.

If anyone steals futures, it’s trial lawyers who sue corporations into bankruptcy over human errors, thereby enriching themselves and to a lesser extent their clients while costing many other innocent people their jobs. But you’ll never hear anything like that from Edwards, either

Long gone are the days when you could trust people to have the self disipline not to defraud insurance companies with fake claims. The honor system if you will is dead. I blame the corrupt trial lawyers. One of Bushes campaign promises was for much needed tort reform. Remember? Lawyers are now running the Democratic party.

Somewhere at C-Span, they must still have the video of the day in 1998 when C-Span followed John Edwards around while he campaigned for the US Senate. Back in 1998, C-Span followed ran raw footage of a number of key Senate races. On the day that the C-Span cameras were rolling, John Edwards was asked what he thought of North Carolina being a "right to work" state. And Edwards, then trying to be a moderate, answered the question by saying that North Carolina benefitted from being a "right to work" state. He was quite emphatic about it and gave a convincing explanation for why being a "right to work" state helps North Carolina. That position is anathema to organized labor. Organized labor demands that every worker in a job site be made to join the union. It is about the most important position to organized labor. Yet Edward has been running around as the candidate for organized labor while knowing that his campaign answer back in 1998 sounded like the views of a candidate who was seeking the support of the National Association of Manufacturers. Edwards knows that the MSM is too lazy to actually look at the footage of his 1998 comments. So nobdoy asks him: "When you were running for Senate, you were in favor of "right to work" laws and you opposed employees being compelled to join labor unions, right John?" And nobody asks Mr. Edwards: "Do you still strenuously disagree with the positions of the AFL-CIO, UAW, and AFSCME?
I feel like a one man truth detector. If will be a cold day in Hades when John Edwards puts one over me.
