Video: NBC’s football crew offsets its “green week” stupidity

Remember when Bob Costas and co did their pre-game by candlelight a few weeks ago? Well, whatever ergs they offset that night they un-offset with their Christmas set tonight. A friend of mine emailed me to say that on tonight’s set they have more lights than a Joan Rivers birthday cake. Sure enough.
What they’re saying in the clip is lame (as usual) and really doesn’t matter. It’s the lights all over the set that you should pay attention to. That set looks like Clark Griswold and Tim “the tool man” Taylor might have joined forces to light it.

They are all super high tech micro-CFLs powered by members of mini-Kiss riding bicycles off stage so it’s ok.

When you figure in traveling to the poles the “Green week” show used a season’s worth of tonights. That’s just how lame NBC is.

The poinsettas are pretty, though.

Nothing like self-absorbed, “insider” humor from a bunch of high-paid critics for our viewing pleasure. Football pre-game and half-time shows are painful to endure. If they ran a test pattern, it wouldn’t matter. I go do something else anyway.

Too bad the ronulan blimp didn’t do a fly over.
It actually sucks the green house gases from the air you know.

Love the quote from 2010.

Of course the music leading to the break?
Do they know it’s Christmas? (feed the world)

Love the quote from 2010.

Hope that’s a typo, or I will revoke your movie nerd card.

“Green Week” is something totally different in Berlin.
And drink!

…my God, it’s full of stars… Dave Bowman, large monolith near Jupiter. (I think!!!)

2001, not 2010 methinks.

First line, opening credits, 2010, then later in the film as well. Just popped in the DVD.
As for the hypocrites at NBC, I’m sure they have a very short memory. What green week?!

I was referring to the movie version, not book.

After their week long pandering to the greenies about what we can do to save the planet – and after them telling me that my family and I should light one less candle this year for Chanukah (which I did not), they celebrate Christmas like this.
BTW – Quick note…We light the Chanukah candles to remember the miracle of the temple rededication. The giant menorah that was in the temple burned on oil. In order to rededicate the temple after it was desecrated (which was done just prior by Antiochus Epiphanes) takes 8 days…on each day you light an additional candle. At this time there was only enough oil in the city for one day…but they were able to light all of the lamps for 8 days. G-d is credited with this miracle which we represent each year. So the final question is… Will the environmentalists come out against G-d for being a abusive polluter?

Yeah, but it replaces them with pot smoke and Wi-Fi spam emissions.

Hypocrites! I refuse to watch NBC and their gaggle of pandering dolts.

It’s NBC… need we say more?
RMCS_USN on December 24, 2007 at 8:26 AM
I’m sorry Dave, I can’t do that.
rokemronnie on December 24, 2007 at 8:27 AM
They are competing at this point only against their own record of stupidity. No one else is in sight.

“Designed to raise awareness”. I’ve been living in a mud hut in the Amazon jungle for the last 50 years. What are environmental issues?
aengus on December 24, 2007 at 9:35 AM
Don’t forget, NBC already offset their energy savings by sending correspondents & film crews to the north pole, south pole, and equator, then illuminating the crap out of them with lights, all the while showing how environmentally conscious they are.

The NBC pregame and post game show is painful to watch. Bob Costas is so dull and he is like a high school kid who could not make the varsity and decides to worship the jocks instead. He is filled with little inside jokes, little puns and all kinds of silly stuff. Olbermann is simply taking his hate filled angry left wing snotty shtick to a football studio. Chris Collinsworth seems obsessed with retelling minor accomplishments he had with the Bengals 25 years ago. Believe me, Chris is not to be confused with Jerry Rice, John Taylor, TO or Randy Moss. The NBC show is like watching root canal surgery. It is that painful.
Larraby on December 24, 2007 at 10:05 AM
slobermann uses the show to promote his own dumb show. You’d think he would speak out against this hypocrisy of NBC.

Speaking of glorious football programming, did anybody catch the game on Fox yesterday afternoon, 49ers vs. Bucs I believe it was? There was some audio glitch, and all the commentary crapped out for the entire 2nd half of the game. It was beautiful. Finally got to watch a game in peace (except for all the commercials).
Mark V. on December 24, 2007 at 1:09 PM
Not to worry, they’re still carbon-neutral, because I refuse to waste energy by watching them.

Anyone remember the game without announcers? Ironically broadcast by NBC. I remember the Jets were at the Dolphins, forget the year.
Pre Algore energy savings.
