2. Don’t work at a minimum wage job.

(Minimum wage should be abolished, its simply another example of why this is no longer the “land of the free”.

Then his (Hillary’s as well) life has been, and will be, a complete waste. Does he really believe, heck, does ANYONE really believe it is possible to “end poverty”?

My wife was teaching English with the grad students at a big university, and of course a couple of these progressive 20-somethings had bigass communist campaign posters on their office doors. This was, geez, 15 years ago, but I remember the candidate was some black lesbian demanding an immediate nationwide $15/hour minimum wage.

To which Rush’s argument is always a winner: “Fifteen bucks an hour? Who can raise a family on that? Why are you so friggin’ cheap? Why not $100/hour, you heartless b1tch?”

The lowest paid jobs are not there to raise a family or even for someone to live on their own.

We know that, they know that, but it does resonate with the “unwashed masses.”

For the woman handing out lists of Democrats to vote for in front of the polls last time around, that was the big issue: “My son/daughter/babydaddy make minimum wage…you can’t raise a family on that!” I won’t go into my witty rejoinders here, but suffice it to say that the “living wage” canard has been swallowed whole by a lot of people.

Minimum wage is not a “living wage” it is an entry level wage. The lowest paid jobs are not there to raise a family or even for someone to live on their own. By design they are created to come in, and move up the ladder (or out). You did the right thing for you, you were worth more than a few bucks an hour. That’s the point, those jobs are for temporary positions, not as a vocation.

I can’t remember who said it, but it went like this:

“America is the last hope of Communism. It’s failed everywhere else.”
With each generation after “The Greatest,” the public schools have incrementally indoctrinated the children to embrace Communism, and to abhor the ownership of guns. They go hand-in-hand – and this Nation will fall. I’m sorry to say that I’m still young enough to watch the collapse.

LOL – So on target!

On the other side of the coin, I was laid off for a few months when I was living in Nashville a few years ago. I didn’t want to waste my money on regular bills (even though I had one a years free rent at my apartment complex), so I figured I’d just go get a gig at the TJ Maxx down the road, get a discount, etc. Well, the job was for nighttime receiver (handle the trucks bringing loads in at night, etc.) You’d think outside of upper management, this would be one of the highest paying jobs in the place (everyone else are just cashiers who, I’m sorry, are straight out of special education). I easily got the job, never crossed my mind that I wouldn’t… but when they called to tell me, they told me they couldn’t give me the $8-9 (which I thought was extremely low ball,but I knew I’d only have to live with it for a couple of months) I requested… They wanted to pay me $5.75!!! WTF!? I laughed at the guy… and I suspect he laughed as he hired a Mexican for that amount.

Anyway, again, I don’t advocate that sort of minimum wage… do 16 year olds really need that kind of cash at their first job? Seems a bit extreme. But it should be changed on a state by state basis, because the cost of living varies greatly. TN didn’t have a state minimum, and went on the Federal, which was $5.15 at the time. Who the hell lives on that? Granted the cost of living is cheaper there than here, but virtually all jobs here pay double that, no matter how entry level/low skilled they are.
