Well one thing we can agree on is the detrimental effect the negative parts of hip-hop have had on blacks. However if this is such an effect on the present inequality, how do you explain the still rampant inequality which preceded gangster rap. Ice Cube and the NWA pioneered the c-rap of today in the mid 90’s shouldn’t things have been infinitely better then if gangster rap were the cause?

I think you misunderstood the point. Black people may make the same income as whites with similar positions (I don’t know, I’ve never seen a study on it), but they aren’t able to get to those positions in the first place. There may not be racism once blacks manage to “make it”, but there is racism which prevents many from “making it”, this accounts for the grossly disproportionate representation of blacks in high-income positions. People who point to inequality statistics aren’t saying “hey, look blacks make less than whites with the same position”, they’re saying blacks aren’t getting to the positions whites have. The cultural argument is the same tired one used right after Jim Crow laws were abolished.

People recognized that blacks lived in ghettos, but they asserted it was “by their own choice”. Why would be people choose to be poor? It’s sad many in America still haven’t moved past blaming the victim. Cultural considerations may be applicable for small inequalities, but ones as vast as the ones I mentioned? That’s reaching quite a bit.

True or False: Black culture as promoted by the rap music industry glorifies being a “gangster,” selling drugs, and treating women in general, but espically black women, like disposable chattle. What’s your defense, that slim shady was white? Fact is black culture (which, if you read Dr. Sowell’s work is really just white redneck culture) is selling blacks short. Kanye West and his bitch-nigga-ho music has probably caused more damage to the black community than all the white CEOs in America combined.

For instance, my income is probably a small fraction of Kanye West’s. However, that’s comparing a Catholic reporter to a famously egotistical rapper.

What you’d have to do is compare white engineers to black engineers and vice versa. If more blacks are in social work and more whites are in multi-million dollar corporations, chances are the mean incomes between the races will be skewed heavily towards whites.

That isn’t racism, that’s cooking statistics, and it’s a hallmark of the feminist movement and the poverty pimps.

Black culture and specifically the cardinal sin of “acting white” by being hard working, academically vigorous, and successful isn’t helping any blacks get out of the hole. Nevermind the out-of-wedlock births thanks to the entitlement mentality propagated by The Justice Brothers and liberal democrats everywhere.

I was saying just yesterday, that if Obama ever shows up on GMA with that Chrissy “The Paperboy” Cuomo (who, of course, must be a mobster because he’s I – talian), then I won’t be able to vote for him because of my inherent racism!

I guess the fact that no other country in the history of the planet has sacrificed more to combat racism, including the number of lives. Blacks live at a better standard in the USA than any other nation. I guess the fact that Liberals take out Black Americans such as Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice as “Uncle Toms” and traitors makes their exceptional achievements out of the mix, but there are plenty of other examples that squash that racist comment. Of course, this hack is of the party that wishes to keep a certain group of Americans in their pocket, and needs to keep announcing that racism is alive and well.

sure, blacks in America have 16% the mean wealth of whites and make little over half the income, but gosh darn it they should be happy they live at such a good standard! People like Oprah, Rice and Powell are great role models, but unfortunately they also often seem to reinforce incorrect perceptions on inequality. Depending on how the question is asked between 40-60% of americans think blacks are doing as well or better than whites in terms of housing, education, jobs and income. Nothing could be further from the truth. I wouldn’t go so far as to say America is inherently racist, but our constitution was for nearly 200 years and there certainly must be something fueling such disturbing inequality. It sure as hell ain’t hip-hop music and blacks just “being lazy”.
