If showing the real-world consequences of a super-powered being running around (lots of stuff getting broken) didn’t already do it, then tossing the whale sold me. And I thought “Hitch” was funny, and I just saw and loved “I Am Legend”. I think he may be losing his mind r/e the whole Scientology thing, though.

This was initially called TONIGHT HE COMES about 10 years ago, before going through a long series of rewrites and title changes. Originally, it was about a superhero with, er, “performance issues”, who resolves said issues at the end of the movie, hence the title.

Really enjoyed I Am Legend and this gave me a couple laughs, especially since it seems that Jason Bateman is playing his character from AD again (loved that show). Also Peter Berg did the Rundown and I loved that one too.

Either way, The Dark Knight gets my money before this anyways.

It’s too bad that Will Smith has joined Scientology; he stars in several of my favorite movies. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, (maybe because they’re nuts), once an actor becomes a scientologist their movies always suck.

The main conflict in Hancock is between the affair between Wil Smith’s superhero and the Jason Bateman character’s wife. Bateman is a PR flack that Smith’s character saves from the train–in return he tries to “clean up” the superhero’s tainted image. The superhero is resistant until he realizes the more time he spends with the PR flack equals more time to be with the PR flack’s beautiful wife.

So… The work-obsessed PR guy teams with the jaded superhero who only cares about banging the impossibly hot yet still ignored and unfulfilled wife.

Ooooh, so many questions:
Will the PR flack find a moral center while also reconnecting with his wife?
Will the wife show the jaded superhero a reason to be a hero again while also getting captured by a bad guy intent on destroying Los Angeles?
Will the superhero gain redemption by NOT banging the hot wife while also stopping a bad guy from destroying Los Angeles?

Can’t wait to find out!
