I know a measured campaign (by someone who isn’t dripping in campaign funds) isn’t your style, but a lot of us actually like it. Each to his own, eh?

Thompson started his campaign as king of the world, the conservative second coming of Reagan that would save us all from RINO Rudy, Mitt, and McCain. Fred Thompson was heralded as the only true conservative. “Fred is inevitable. Fear the Fred!” were the phrases of the day.

Ya know, a lot of that was just honest hope and excitement at hearing someone actually put forth things that a lot of people, myself included, believed. He didn’t proclaim his inevitibility. I don’t think Thompson’s passing on anything.

Fred Thompson is like a 6′6 titan that everyone thought would be an all-star QB, and it turns out that he is incapable of converting a third down. Fred started at 1st and ten, and he rushed forward 5 yards. But then he threw an incomplete pass. When it came to third down he got sacked, and had to punt.

Football analogies? Just keep pulling that stuff out of thin air, I guess. I can’t imagine anyone taking what you say seriously when you write stuff like this.

Thompson/Bolton ’08 – Fear The Glare!

I think you massively underestimate Thompson, and that’s your perogative. I think Fred will do just fine up against any of the dem candidates. The talk about Fred’s stamina is just speculation on your part. I would imaging Jeri would disagree with you on that one.

Jeri is more interested in becoming First Lady then Fred is in being President. Everyone who sees the two together knows she wears the pants and calls the shots, and Fred is just her patsy.

Didn’t work out that way though, did it? When given an opportunity to shine, Fred passes on it, preferring to crack a joke or smoke a cigar. Fred conceded New Hampshire the moment he blew off the primary debate for an announcement on Leno the same day. If he didn’t New Hampshire would be solidly in the Fred column. Fred missed out on the Iowa straw poll, now he’s gunning for third place.

When his team recovered the ball, the same thing happened. A quick rush forward, an incomplete pass, and then another sack. Repeat until Thompson hits single digits.

And a massive quick response smear team is the very last thing I want to see him adopt. I’m sick of that crap, and I think the American People are too.

For the record, after listening to what Mitt has had to say, he’s now my number 2 choice.

Because certain others think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread and can’t handle the fact that Fred has sabotaged himself. They’ll blame the MSM, they’ll blame right-wing media that doesn’t salivate over Thompson in general. The only thing they won’t blame for the mismanaged Thompson campaign is Fred himself. I’d vote for Fred too if I wern’t convinced by Fred’s own incompetence he’s not fit to run a campaign for dogcatcher. To beat Hillary Fred will need a ground force, a swift, well organizaed campaign team that responds to attacks at lightning speed, and the energy and stamina to survive what could be the dirtiest election in history.

Fred Thompson doesn’t have any of that. He can slaughter Hillary on ideas all day long, but it doesn’t matter if he can’t pool the resources and run a campaign that can beat her. Nevermind if Barry O gets the nod. People actually want to vote for Obama.

All I know is this:

Mitt Romney had the cojones to do an interview with Michelle for HA and MM.com.

Fred Thompson goes on Beck and says he wasn’t aware so many people were looking for him. That was either another classic poorly constructed FDT joke or Fred doesn’t even have a hold on his campaign.

Fred is his own worst enemy.

I’ve already stated Huckabee is vermin for his religion baiting.

If Fred were really so busy putting out his platform, he wouldn’t be in the single digits and shooting for runner-up in early primary states. But as we know, all his campaign events are flops and he’s held less of them than the other candidates. Fred’s tendency for producing good soundbites is sinking any platform he might have.

Attacking other candidates with witty quips is par for the course with Fred, and he undoes what would be a solid two minute interview segment with a 30 second dissertation on what the other guy is doing. Fred is his own worst enemy.

Well, Fred has perpetually been available for comment on everyone else’s campaign.

It’s his own he never talks about.

However, all he did here was call Huckabee a liberal. It’s nothing to get too excited over; all of Republican candidates will level that charge at their opponents from time to time,

Then why is Fred the only one doing it? He’s the only one with the guts so far to say what we’re all thinking about Huck, and to point it out unequivocally to anyone who hasn’t figured it out yet. The other candidates seem too afraid of offending fundamentalists by pointing out the truth about Huckabee’s liberalness. They’re all tip-toeing around Huck and his supporters instead. I fully expected the gloves to come off in the Giuliani campaign a few days ago when Huck pulled ahead in Florida, but nothing. Nothing meaningful from Romney or McCain, either. That’s why we’re so impressed that Fred’s doing it. He’s not hopping up and down, screaming and turning red in the face about it. He’s just calmly stating facts in a straightforward way that gives credit to the viewer’s intelligence. That’s why we’re cheering.
