Good thing he didn't say Obama was like Brer Rabbit. Can you imagine the uproar?

He's smooth at the sermonesque "kid on the block" stuff, but he wouldn't be able to say anything about the serious matters without his notes.

Go back to your flock, Huck, or to the Holiday Inn.

bnelson44, take any national poll you see, crumple it up and toss it right into the trash. Its meaningless. We don’t have a national election.

Zetterson on December 17, 2007 at 6:55 PM

I agree. National polls are meaningless in the primaries.

Finished the video. It was the same (or nearly the same) as Huck's Foreign Affairs article which I had read earlier this week. I also read VDH's commentary on the Foreign Affairs article.

I thought the speech was OK as far as it went. I don't have a problem reaching out to Iran. We are doing it anyway. They will rebuff us anyway because they think they are winning the political war, but it could help us with our propaganda war (which we are losing miserably). Anyway, I don't see anything so outrageous in the speech to turn off the general run of the mill Republican.

LOL! Drudge sees a floating cross in Huck's Christmas ad. I didn't notice it until I went looking for it. Yea, it's there but do you really need it if your only talking about the birth of Christ anyway?

Too bad, Christmas is Christ's birthday, not just a Wall Mart sale day.

Fred Thompson would; subtle in the background with allies making the best covert preparations, cunning as a fox and wise as a serpent; then attacking relentlessly once in battle. Fred reminds one of Teddy Roosevelt, carrying a big stick and speaking softly–DIRECTLY TO THE POINT without swerving off course.

What on God's green Earth gives you this sensation about Fred? Was it the Law & Order gig, or the way he relentlessly tracked down moonshiners in backwoods Tennessee?

I just don’t see those pretty boy faces with their practiced vocal lilt and PC jargon striking fear in the hearts of terrorists. maverick, do you have a Fred Dalton Thompson shrine built at your house yet? I assume you joking a bit but sometimes its a little tough to tell. Fred's a good man. He's a smart man. He's not a lazy man. He would be easy for me to support as the Republican nominee. But he doesn't come without flaws. His orgainization and competence has been rightfully called into question. He lied to us about Spencer Abraham (for reasons that escape me). I think when all is said and done he is going to make a fine VP selection.

You have a link to the whole speech? I hate edited speeches put together by competing campaigns, they are intended to make the speaker look poor. So I'll take the time to listen to it all if you send me the link to the speech I should listen to.

ptolemy, I think you are right but it would only matter if people took the time to watch this disaster of a foreign policy speech and honestly think about what he is saying. The percentage of voters that will listen to more then a 3 second soundbite from this will probably be about 1% - if that.

Two wrongs don't make a right, Huckabee and Romney.

The last thing America needs is an officially religious Christian president leading the war on terror. No matter what Christians or Americans in general think, that war on terror would blow up a million times over with an official "Christian" or Mormon leading what the world and opponents will recognize as America's own holy war rather than just a war against terror--feeding the fire, "balancing" or legitimizing the Islamic radicals in THEIR minds and the mouths of bleeding heart liberals.

The guy is ignorant, naive, and desrespectful towards our commander-in-chief to boot.

The president is big enough to take the criticism. It comes with job, whether he is working on immigration reform or pursuing the surge.

There is more room for the candidates to move away from Bush's record on some issues, such as spending.

Is the anti-Huck consensus starting to consense?

Not exactly. Zetterson and I have been hashing over that Rasmussen poll over in Headlines, and none of the candidates’ bases (defined as those that won’t switch) top the 12% of those that refused to name a candidate at all.

Yes, yes we have. Steve is right. This Romney bump has unfortunately come at Fred's expense rather then the Huckster's. I would much rather have seen Fred and Mitt rise together both at Huck's expense. Alas, the Huck's numbers have held steady. Mitt's caught up and Fred has lost support.

Are you kidding, Allahpundit? I think the speech will be devastating to Huckabee's chances if it is listened to by a large number of primary voters. Independents don't take part in closed primaries, but committed Republicans do. The guy is ignorant, naive, and desrespectful towards our commander-in-chief to boot. Combined with information leaking out concerning his indugent views towards felons while governor, I think that Huckabee's total cluelessness on foreign affairs will result in his flaming out like Howard Dean four years ago.

Is the anti-Huck consensus starting to consense?

Not exactly. Zetterson and I have been hashing over that Rasmussen poll over in Headlines, and none of the candidates' bases (defined as those that won't switch) top the 12% of those that refused to name a candidate at all.

Huck doesn't understand that Pakistani tribesmen in the Northwest Frontier like Sharia law. They also like our financial donations and will be happy to take them in whatever form,... then go make a car bomb for the Taliban to use. I'll bet the terrorists are rubbing their hands in anticipatory glee at the thought of having Huck across the bargaining table.

Ok....let me get this straight...

So Mr. Huckabee gets proof that OBL is in the 4700 block of Ronald Reagan street, Quetta, PAK. The man who pardoned convicted criminals out of compassion and a sense of 'fair play' is going to order the 4700 block of Ronald Reagan street turned into a gravel pit? Or is he going to phone up the United Nations and ask for suggestions?

Regardless of any formula, method or plan we cannot buy peace in the middle-east. We've been trying that for 60 years and failing miserably. Somebody tell The Huxkster.

Does he think Bush has them all mapped out and is simply too gutless to send drones in to do the work?

There's some argument to be made here. If Spurlock in fact did find Bin Laden then there's a HUGE case to be made here.

Definitely a cringe worthy moment IMO. Could not bring myself to listen to anything else after that.
