I have always liked Linda Chavez. She is a great thinker and writer. She may be wrong on this issue, but she isn’t wrong often.

Linda Chavez is dead to me. I hope she never serves another day in public service and never sells another book.

This issue isnt an issue of race its an issue of citisenship.

The other side demogogues it buy trying to make it about race.

Again what race are illegal Immigrants ? That is a question they cant answer.

That nails it! What race are illegal immigrants? Excellent Mr. Amos! I’m putting that on my sign when I go down with Border Watch to protest day labor sites in Spring, Texas every Saturday.

Since the illegal immigration has become the dominant issue of the day, however, she is feeling the pressure of the Hispanic community to get on the bandwagon for immigration reform. In this I can understand her reasoning – except for one aspect of her argument.

Cities, counties and states are pleading to be relieved of the financial burdens the illegals are putting on them, and they are taking action as their coffers are in rapid decline, and they refuse to raise taxes to offset the costs.

When the US Commission on Civil Rights met Friday, County Supervisors Chairman Corey A. Stewart cited that crime, residential overcrowding and increased use of hospital emergency rooms was having a negative impact on the county, to which Chavez called his remarks – anecdotal.

The anecdotal comment was a very bad comeback on her part as it shows an insensitivity, and that she could care less about the impact it is having.

And she seems to have developed an ‘it’s our way or the highway’ attitude.

I like how she wanted to get her digs in on him but wasn’t going to allow him to respond.

It’s a shame we didn’t know the full extent of her views back in 2001 as it would have told us a lot about President Bush and the kind of advice he was seeking.

Linda doesn’t want “anecdotal evidence” of the effects of illegal alien crime. I guess this “evidence” isn’t important to her:

When you use the tactics of your enemies against your allies, you have effectively committed treason against them. Translation: see ya Linda, there’s a place for you on the left, where smears of “racism” are not only accepted, but encouraged.

She is so far gone on this issue, it’s hard to even address what she’s saying without calling her a derogatory name.

Since the problem of illegal immigrants commiting crime is, I submit, due in large part to the mindset of lawlessness among those who break the law to come here, it would simply doom the community to a lengthy, protracted effort in bringing those new citizens up to modern standards of civility. It is doubtful they would ever embrace true patriotism or love of the USA, since their initial motivation in coming here was not service to God and Country, but selfish ambition and, often enough, an easy handout. So no, the burden on the jails and hospitals would be just as bad as ever, but now they’d be legal residents. It’s exactly why we choose to exercise good judgement in whom we allow into our nation. And why we’d like to see the undesireables shipped back. Because we can.

Why did the civil rights commision have any reason to get involved here? Did Chavez put this together as part of her own personal witch hunt?

I think you may be mistaking her very articulate manner for an intelligence that isn’t there. She has turned positively nasty over the issue of immigration (and I’m not just talking about her nazi comments). Chavez was interviewed by Laura Ingraham and all but suggested that Americans who didn’t support McCain’s amnesty scheme were racist selfish traitors.

She has no business being in charge of a panel looking into a law that cracks down on illegal aliens.

She’ll probably be put in charge of Homeland Security if Huckabee, McCain, or Giuliani win the election.
