Video: CNN anchor calls Obama “Osama” Update: Et tu, Bob Kerrey?

posted at 9:35 am on December 17, 2007 by Bryan

And she made the Ted Kennedyesque flub while introducing a story about the “Obama is a Muslim” rumors. Heh.

Question: Is this really a flub, or evidence of the Clinton News Network in action?

Update:
With friends like Bob Kerrey, Barack Obama doesn’t need enemies like Hillary Clinton.

“I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim,” Kerrey told The Washington Post.

“There’s a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal.”

What, you couldn’t work in a drug reference while you were at it, Bob?

“CNN would like to issue a correction…contrary to what we reported earlier, we have no evidence whatsoever that Osama bin Laden is a Muslim.”

Okay, honestly, who cares? Osama Bin Laden is a major figure in the American psyche. Someone with the name Obama who wants to be in the national interest is going to have to suffer it. It would be the same kind of problem for someone named Salaam or anything similar to the name of a national enemy.

As Michael Bolton would say, “Osama should change his name, he’s the no talent ass clown!”

True.

Virtually every time I refer to O-B-A-M-A I inadvertently say Osama. Can’t help it.
We’ve got an IT guy at the office named Hussein. A hundred times I’ve caught myself begin to call him Saddam.

edgehead on December 17, 2007 at 9:50 AM

Isn’t this offense #3 or #4 for CNN now? Didn’t they put giant “OSAMA” letters on the screen once? Or was it that they put “OBAMA” and they were showing Bin Laden? I think that’s what it was. But haven’t CNN anchors done this at least one or two other times too?

RightWinged on December 17, 2007 at 9:54 AM

And while we are at it, I’d like to point out that Rudy Giuliani is not gay, despite the despicable allegations to the contrary.

factoid on December 17, 2007 at 9:55 AM

Yeah, no big deal, and he can all the sting out of it by saying it’s like a breath of fresh air compared to the a life of having his last name confused with Shaddup.

Dusty on December 17, 2007 at 9:56 AM

The Left is always screaming separation of church and state, unless they are running for office. Then they all slime up the pulpits and carry around Bibles. Hypocrites.

Barry needs to drop the racial handle, and settle for a white-bread name. It’s like running with the name Hissler.

Hening on December 17, 2007 at 9:59 AM

I like the fact that he’s an admitted drug abuser. Millions of people in this country have felt the scourge of drug addiction and it’s important to have a candidate with whom they can identify.

Dudley Smith on December 17, 2007 at 10:06 AM

is there really a difference?

he still belongs to a racist church. there have been news stories about it and how he has distanced himself from the grand dragon pastor of it.

you know… the same church Oprah belongs to.

President Osama, here we go…

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on December 17, 2007 at 10:10 AM

The church that measures Christians by their blackness.

Jaibones on December 17, 2007 at 10:14 AM

This is their Rovian strategy. Take the focus off the fact that Obama is a rascist.

Griz on December 17, 2007 at 10:21 AM

Let’s not forget that CNN, the network that considers itself the repository of all things that are moral and righteous, is the same network where an anchorwoman said that the riots in France were “caused by young African-Americans”. Can anybody even imagine if an anchorwoman at Fox made that racist slipup? And it is the same network that sent out Christine Amanpour to do several hours of broadcasts to prove her thesis that Jews and Christians are far more dangerous and extreme than Muslims. The Amanpour program was probably the most biased and shameful broadcast in the history of television (well, maybe second. CNN also broadcast a news special devoted the theme that American soldiers and air force pilots went into Laos and Cambodia for the purpose of murdering US soldiers who had defected).

They must’ve been over there on an exchange program.

Political Correctness fails again.

Any chance you guys can warn us when you use that particular media player in an article? It crashes my browser, and I doubt I’m the only one.

I noticed than cnn had a huge special on last night about the problems with religion in America. Carefully scripted by our ‘deciders’, I’m sure.

cnn is a propaganda tool for the left. First. Last. And always.

techno_barbarian on December 17, 2007 at 10:38 AM

Beyond everything else, Bob Kerry’s comment is just too stupid for words. Having “experience” with Muslims does exactly what for B. Hussein?

highhopes on December 17, 2007 at 10:39 AM

To avoid doing that again, everyone should just call him by his middle name.

TheSitRep on December 17, 2007 at 10:55 AM

Where did my other comment go? All I did was link to previous “Osama”/”Obama” offenses, and they were both HotAir links. ?

Good call techno, my bad… I’m retarded (sorry guys)

Ah, here it is… a full screen of Bin Laden and CNN asks “Where’s Obama?”
http://hotair.com/archives/2007/01/01/question-of-the-day/

And here was Yahoo! captioning a photo of Obama with “Osama bin laden and al-Qaida”
http://hotair.com/archives/2007/01/03/yahoo-captions-obama-photo-with-osama/

I know there are other examples (again, aside from drunk Uncle Ted).

The funny part about all of this, is the left has always whined about the right trying to smear him by linking his name to Osama and Saddam Hussein, etc. etc. But the examples continue to come from lefty MSM outlets.

Taint him as a Muslim stooge?

That NY Post story update is priceless. What a snake in the grass Bob Kerrey is! The Hsu story provided some hints into what he’ll do for the Clintons, but this is so over the top it could be a SNL routine.

And the story even has Hillary commenting on alien invasions! It’s so reassuring to know that Hillary thinks we will would be united against aliens who come from outer space. Now if she could just give us the same sense of resolve about Earthling invaders.

Buy Danish on December 17, 2007 at 11:43 AM

I wish the Clintons would make it clear if he was Muslim before or after he sold the drugs. At this point, it’s confusing still.

JiangxiDad on December 17, 2007 at 11:50 AM

Good thing he doesn’t have Assad in his name. He would ahve the big three.

RobCon on December 17, 2007 at 12:04 PM

It’s also a good thing he is not gay like Giuliani.

factoid on December 17, 2007 at 12:26 PM

I mean, the same way Giuliani is not gay.

He doesn’t even try to conceal the fact that he’s sleeping with a black woman! That takes guts, my friends. Barack Hussein Obama: The leadership this country (and Muslims everywhere) needs.”

Burkas in bed!?!

I don’t know how to interpret that comment. Pure racism or stupidity.

Kini on December 17, 2007 at 12:50 PM

That makes 3 times CNN flubbed the Osama/Obama thing that I’m aware of. Any others?
