A little holiday lunch-time serenade. I didn’t see about 90% of this one coming.

Blowback

Wish they had this at iTunes. This was apparently recorded in 1998–these are the original members of Straight No Chaser, which still exists at IU with new members entering as old ones graduate. One can only get this performance on a DVD, which is now totally sold out. :-( They are making more DVDs as fast as they can, though. Good for them! I love it when people with real talent get attention.

Straight no Chaser — Thelonius Monk would be love this!

Very cool!

Second time I’ve misted up today. Fantastic! Bravo!

Good stuff. Some of the acapella groups have really good performances, etc. This one was pretty good.

Sometimes they can be better than the originals, too. Case in point, this video.

I think they do a better job than Michael Jackson.

nice to see some people still have a sense of humor!

BillLalor on December 14, 2007 at 1:20 PM

How ironic you have “straight” in the title…*ahem*.

As an alumnus from Indiana University, I’d like to know what you are implying? ;)

I’ll have you know the I.U. School of Music is one of the best.

Nineball on December 14, 2007 at 2:25 PM

Excellent!

Straight No Chaser — a composition from one of Jazz bebop’s more colorful pianists and composers – Thelonius Monk (a short section from Clint Eastwood’s film about him).
