Video: Did the $400 haircut save America from a Silky Presidency?

posted at 8:15 am on December 14, 2007 by Bryan

Pollster Frank Luntz suggests as much about halfway into this clip. What a scary thought. But Luntz may be right. Look at how the Democrats respond, like Pavlov’s dogs, to Edwards’ demagoguery on economics. He runs off the charts, even though he’s spewing nonsense.

It seems like the Donks prefer a girl over a girly-man.

Did the haircut save us? No, his stupid grin did.

I think he ultimately comes across as the opportunist, sleezeball plaintiff’s lawyer that he is. Even if the Democrats were (are?) taken in by the man, I think the vast majority of the American people wouldn’t buy his snake oil.

The Dems might be aroused by the dirty talk of class warfare, but even they got limp at the sight of the man in action.

A fine line between a whiny beta male and a shrill nut-crushing female?
No, the Beast is actually more macho than Silky.SHe looks like she doesn’t even care about her hair.

bbz123 on December 14, 2007 at 8:29 AM

It’s just another showing of his true colors.

The fact that he’s fighting for “the poor” but is too good to talk to his neighbors living in trailers is just insane. Who does he think he’s fooling? Does he think that Americans – yes, even ones who live in trailers – are that stupid? Why aren’t more people insulted by that behavior? Shillary is the same way.

They’re just not real. They are so absolutely fake it’s ridiculous.

flyawaybird on December 14, 2007 at 8:33 AM

Absolute pandering populism of the worst kind. Children don’t go bed hungry in this country, they go to bed fat. Childhood obesity is a far more prevalent problem than is malnutrition. People aren’t turned away at the emergency rooms in this country, they are guaranteed treatment under EMTALA, and many use the ED as a primary care physician. And thanks to the free trade agreements that he decries, even the poorest families can afford to buy their little girls the $10 or $15 winter coats they need at Wal-Mart. His material is straight out of Huey Long during the Great Depression, but the Dems seem to think that is still the way things are in this country.

Luntz needs to lay off the Cheetos, man.

Those Dem voters are scary. Edwards is “refreshingly authentic”? HAH!!!

“Corporate power and greed have taken over the government.” Like a typical Donkey, Edwards brings out one of their favorite boogeymen.

Bigfoot on December 14, 2007 at 8:47 AM

Ultimately, I think Edwards was done in by his own “populist” rants. The $400.00 haircuts didn’t help, however.

highhopes on December 14, 2007 at 8:50 AM

They hate corporate “greed” because 99% of the business people in this country actually are more important and productive than any given politician on either side. Silky has not produced a single worthwhile thing in his life as far as I can see.So if the people who do make money will not willingly give it to him he will do his best to force them to.

“We need to grow the middle class”

“We need to create jobs”

“We need Universal Health Care to create jobs and grow the middle class”.

Or words to that effect.

OK, Silky, I’ll say this slowly so you can understand it;

1. Government can not “grow” the middle class. Aside from that sentence being an etymological atrocity, you cannot “create” a middle class by taxing the members of same to death. Instead, you create a society consisting of “haves” (those on the government payroll) and “have-nots” (those footing the bill for same). You say you want to change the “Two Americas” you keep prattling on about, but it looks to me like you’re hell-bent on creating the very situation you claim already exists and that you want to “cure”. Excuse me?

2. Government can not create jobs. It can only take money from the civil economy (taxes) and use that money to create make-work and/or “programs”, the sole purpose of same being to buy votes. Once you’ve taken enough money out of circulation in the real economy and concentrated it in government, the economy collapses, and you’re S.O.L.

3. We already have universal Health Care in this country. Between insurance, charitable organizations, Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield (not the same thing as private health insurance), we have a health-care system that is so envied by countries with government-run “socialized care” systems, that coming here for medical care is a growing segment of our tourist traffic from the UK and Western Europe. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who needs medical care can get it. If that isn’t “Universal”, I’d like to know what is.

What Silky really means is;

We (i.e., the progressives like him) do not have nearly enough control over you (the unenlightened Great Unwashed, i.e., the rest of us.) To get the control we lust after, we are going to run this country like Sweden or the old Soviet Union.

“And if we bankrupt it or even destroy it in the process, who cares? You should know by now that we don’t like it, or you, very much anyway.

“We are, however, very much in love with ourselves. And we’re the only people who really matter.

“Now hand over your wallet, peasant“.

cheers

Wasn’t there a report Silky dropped $1200 on a haircut?

I have better hair and only pay $11 at the barber.

Big haircut is ripping us off!

Polish that up, and it could be one of the Dems planks.

Like Pelosi spending $2100 on makeup for her inauguration…what’s that joke? When I wake up I’ll be sober, but you’ll still be ugly.
It seems like the Dems never wake up, so they walk around in a stupor, thinking their candidates are wonderful.

right2bright on December 14, 2007 at 9:03 AM

My deep down gut feeling, when I listen to Mr. Edwards, is that the man believes that being President of the United States is a game. Some kinda high stakes monopoly in which it is ok to cheat your little brother out of Marvin Gardens because it simply feels good to do so. Looking out for me? Only as long as it takes for him to figure our how to get what I got.

Limerick on December 14, 2007 at 9:15 AM

I’d like to see the introductions again. When Edwards is introduced he turns to the camera with the smarmiest grin and I swear his front tooth sparkled like Prince Charmings’……..ick.

ctmom on December 14, 2007 at 9:56 AM

My husband’s haircuts cost about $20, including tips. Edwards is so out of touch with reality – truly pathetic. Two Americas?? Edwards is the classic “Pot. Kettle. Black.”

It’s not that they are stupid, it’s just that they don’t care because he’s promising them the world on a silver platter… at the American taxpayers’ expense. The average Americans translate Edwards’ message as “free, free, free, free, free.” It matters not to them that the messenger is the perfect example of a liberal elite.

pullingmyhairout on December 14, 2007 at 10:01 AM

I think my IQ dropped 50 points just from listening to those dunderheads expressing their opinions and rational for deciding who won the debate, and why.

What a bunch of touchy-feely ignorant puppetheads.

Focus Groupies.

John Edwards not so secret MySpace entry:
*
Hi. My name is Johnny Reid Edwards former Senator from the Great State of North Carolina. Actually I don’t think North Carolina is so great and never did, but my advisers have said that I should say that. You can just call me John if you want. I was born on June 10, 1953, although people tell me that I look at least 25 years younger.

I was the very first person in my dirt poor family to attend college. I earned my law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was a great accomplishment as I was so poor that I had to work 12 different part time jobs to pay for my tuition and just barely enough food to survive.

After getting my law degree I immediately went on my noble mission to save hundreds of victims of gross corporate negligence and gross medical malpractice. When necessary to win a case to help the poor victim that I was representing I would even feel the presence of dead people inside me, talking to me and through me to the members of the jury. If you don’t think that takes a lot out of a man, just try it sometime. I also split the settlement very fairly with my clients. I was VERY generous to them – 5% for them, 95% for me. More than fair. I mean I was the one who had to channel the dead, wasn’t I!!!

If I do say so myself I am so cute that you just can’t believe it! I can hardly believe it myself! I have such great hair! I am also very boyish looking in a good way, not in a gay way at all. Did I mention that I have GREAT HAIR!!! Sometimes I think my great looks are almost a curse.

I sometimes like to chill out after a long day of campaigning to save America by eating at Wendy’s. I also like to spend some time at home sprucing up around my small modest and humble house. I also like to spend hours in front of the mirror combing my hair. Wouldn’t you too if you had such great hair!!! Contrary to what some of my very few enemies say I never spend more than $395 on haircuts. That $400 on a haircut is a damn lie, as it included a very generous $5 tip.

I have even decided to have my various campaign headquarters in poverty stricken parts of America such as that low rent Southern Village shopping center in Chapel Hill. It is way beneath me of course but I have to show my simpatico to the white trash less fortunate.

I would like to think that I am open minded, honest, polite and a real man of the peoples. And I appreciate the same qualities in others.

Who I’d like to meet:
…other bloggers who grew up in poverty. Other people who like to take advantage of help the low life poor. People with great hair so that I can comb your hair and you can comb mine. It’s going to be great!!!

You know, I never understood why Democrats didn’t just run as Socialists in their primaries anyway. The Democrat primary voters would love socialism. Just feed them weeks of Marxist agitprop and they will sweep you into the nomination, carry you to the general, and then ask questions for the next 30 years why, in a general, the collectivist nonsense makes states like New York in play.

Edwards was my early horse in this race. I think he runs away with it.

Luntz is reading the charts wrong.
That’s the aggravation meter.

Really touchy feely fuzzy.

Just got off the phone with a long-time N.C. GOP activist, who reminded me that, more than 6 months ago, he predicted this outcome: Hillary and Obama slice each other up and sling mud back and forth, then Edwards emerges as the knight in shining armor to win the nomination.

Well, let’s hope so. Edwards is such a cartoon stereotype of a liberal phony, he’ll be an easy mark for the Republican Attack Machine.

Please, Iowa Democrats: Vote for Edwards!

Oh, did we have to see the Turtle again?

What’s with this “grow[ing] the middle class”? Or “growing the economy”?

(Is it a plant? No, that’s a Hilary thing?)
