Let's see a show of hands-how many think it was too cold for anyone other than MKH to find Manchesterites that have an opinion?

Anyone get a forecast for November 2008?

who’s from the South, where obesity is pandemic

wow dude, I could explain to you a little more about the 'pandemic' but it would be extremely bigoted and include government cheese. . . something you obviously know nothing about.

But it still doesn't make sense to me why you would have a Nativity scene without the baby Jesus (I know that's what the Catholic Church says). But without Jesus, it's just a barn and farm animal scene with no meaning. Since I took that hit about Southerners being fat, I'll jab a bit at the Catholic Church saying it's just another example of the Catholic Church taking Jesus out of the religion. After Christmas, you take the Nativity scene down so nobody sees Jesus.

We used to have life sized display scenes here with music where you could drive by every year that even included Mary, Joseph, and Jesus fleeing to Egypt to escape Herod's wrath in the last scene. Now the rage in the 'fat' South is LIVE Nativity scenes with real people and real animals. . . including the baby Jesus.

Before a few years ago at my friend's party I had never seen a Nativity scene without Jesus, and would have never imagined it.

MKH, if you have to trek back to NH come Primary time, let me leave you with these two words of adoring advice:

I have a nice nativity display up in my house but it's nice to remember the real Bible facts about Christmas. (You can fact check in the first two chapters of Matthew and Luke.)

The magi weren't there that night
The star of Bethlehem didn't shine that night
No mention of a barn
No mention of animals
No mention of an inn keeper
The angels didn't sing
It wasn't December

Other than that everything else is correct.

Less fat, more Ham!
What kind of remark is that, AP? Are you trying to give the girl a complex or what?

I mean, here it is the holiday season, when everybody naturally puts on a few pounds, and you are subtly implying that MK (who's from the South, where obesity is pandemic) might be suffering from too much fat. You're so ... insensitive.

I think the Baby Jesus statue is placed in the manger on Christmas Day…

Great job MK.

In Catholic displays that's true. The Hammer is obviously of the Protestant persuasion. I laughed at a friend's nativity scene that was beautiful because it had everything but the baby Jesus. She had several nativity scenes and none had Jesus. I actually whispered to her that she forgot something. She said, 'we put the Jesus there on Christmas'. I prefer a Nativity scene with Jesus or it's not a Nativity scene, but that's not what the Vatican says. I just learned what Catholics do about 3 years ago so don't worry Hammer it's not intuitive.

But I LOVE New Hampshire people. They are some of the coolest people in the country. They are incredibly proud of being the first primary, and I am glad that they are. They are level headed, and they understand the issues. I much prefer they have a meaningful primary over NY or California. It needs to be small for it to be grass roots. New Hampshire rocks - and especially the people of New Hampshire. They have lots of towns that are more like Mayberry than Mayberry.
