Bryan’s turning out posts on North Korea possibly funding Hezbollah, the big A’s turning out this. A case study in where your humble correspondents’ priorities lie these days.
At 7:19, it’s at least seven minutes longer than it needs to be. You won’t recognize half the people in it, either, which is a bummer after Tony Snow’s bravura performance last year. Stick around for the Bush girls, though, who prove once again the essential truth of the Pickler/Burnett rule. Oh, and for Tony Blair, who’s a very good sport to turn in a cameo in a vid like this after six years of being sneered at as Bush’s poodle.
Click the image to watch, then come back and watch the little bonus feature I tacked on below. Not just sweet but surprisingly normal. Who is this guy? Perhaps I should google him!

The Paulbots have taken over my school.
I watched the Fox debate in St. Pete on tv in the student lounge. When McCain smacked Paul with his “isolationism” comment, I couldn’t help but clap.
The 30 or so Paulites all looked like they were gonna strangle me.

I like Ron…domestically and economically. Besides that he seems like a nice guy. But when it comes to foreign policy, ick.
Tim Burton on December 13, 2007 at 9:15 AM
Ron Paul is a fruitcake with a tad too many walnuts, and will never be president.
thejackal on December 13, 2007 at 9:19 AM
Skipped to second clip due to short time left to sneak blog time, but re the second clip — Ron Paul sends out a wonderful pamphlet of family recipes during the holidays. Has done for years. It’s just a little thing, but it’s part of the Christmas tradition in our household! In so many ways he is bona fide. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Sir!
RushBaby on December 13, 2007 at 9:20 AM
Nice ad from Paul. Pundits have been wondering how the campaigns are going to strike the balance of advertising during the holidays so that they don’t turn people off by the very fact that they are putting on a political ad during the season. I think Paul’s ad is the blueprint for it. Basically a non-issue related Christmas card from the candidate and his family.

Most of the times I have seen Paul, I end up thinking he is a decent man. Some of his views nauseate me, but at least he stays true to what he believes in, and I respect him for that. I can’t say that for Rudy, Huck, and Mitt, though I would easily for vote any of them over Paul.

The Bush daughters are absolutely gorgeous. Billarys daughter made a rare appearance at Hills 60th B-day bash/fundraiser and let’s just say everyone lost their appetite.
roninacreage on December 13, 2007 at 9:32 AM
Not nearly as good as past years- perhaps it is time to retire the tradition of the Barney Cam.

Does Stormfront run the Paul recipes?

Alan Jackson!
I thought Blair’s line about the Scots was the best part.
marykatharine on December 13, 2007 at 9:41 AM
Ah, the twins. Beautiful.

The out take at the end gave me a good laugh.

Jonah Goldberg has a great NRO column on Paul called: “The Tradition of Ron Paul”

When did Jenna start sounding just like Kelly Ripa?
rockbend on December 13, 2007 at 9:51 AM
Aren’t these the women that Stephen King (the radical postmodern Edgar Allan Poe) wishes to see water-boarded in support of his allies in horror?
Hening on December 13, 2007 at 9:59 AM
That Ron Paul video shows that he has a really big family. Is Ron Paul a Mormon by any chance?

Aww, I think that White House video is cute. But I’m a sucker for schmaltz during the Holiday Season (or during Christmas – depending on how PC you are).
mjk on December 13, 2007 at 10:07 AM
Same here. Either way, it’s good to see genuine sentiment from him.
And the whole 7 minutes and 19 seconds were worth it just to see Jenna and Barbara. Hot, hot, HOT. And any lib who wants to argue is automatically confirmed gayer than a stack of strawberry pancakes.
MadisonConservative on December 13, 2007 at 10:11 AM
Ron Paul actually said Merry Christmas…..Laura stuck with the generic PC Happy Holiday! Agggh that annoys me, someone grow some huevos and wish me a Merry Christmas!
jjjen on December 13, 2007 at 10:24 AM
Is there an official white house pooper scooper guy or gal that follows Barney around? And how much does it pay?
Rod on December 13, 2007 at 10:39 AM
It’s just not the same without the Snow-man. :-( (Tony Snow, not the YouTube debate’s talking snowman.)
aero on December 13, 2007 at 10:46 AM
Thank God the Bush family legacy has nothing to do with acting:)
terryannonline on December 13, 2007 at 10:53 AM
I saw the clip with the twins last night, I thought it was cute!
I’ve noticed this year, more people have been wishing me a Merry Christmas. It’s nice and it sounds way more sincere than happy holidays.!
4shoes on December 13, 2007 at 10:55 AM
Paul must have some money to just blow it on a non-political add.
shick on December 13, 2007 at 11:04 AM
Jenna and Barbara sure look like their parents.
KBird on December 13, 2007 at 11:08 AM
As a sufferer of BFLS (BushFamilyLoveSyndrome), I just love Laura and the twins. And even though I’m really disapointed in my President, I still love him too(heavy sigh with eyes closed).
I find it is a relief, in fact a pleasant surprise, that the FirstFamily seem to be terrible actors(Bless their hearts, that’s a good thing). I mean, even Elvis singing to that hounddog on EdSullivan had me sold that the dog never caught a rabbit.
So are the wRONgPAUL college kids actually ok with him using the dreaded M*rry Christmas phrase?
christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 11:08 AM
Cute. But it’s more like Merry Chr*stmas. Don’t forget where the offense is.
shick on December 13, 2007 at 11:12 AM
Just couldn’t bring myself to censor my favorite day o’ the year. Merry Christmas to all!
christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 11:27 AM
Stossel interviews ron paul.
jummy on December 13, 2007 at 11:32 AM
Ron Paul buys into the “war on Christianity” thing a little too strongly for my tastes, but I think he’s right on regarding the scrubbing of Christmas from our vocabulary and culture:
Emphasis mine.
Baptist. :-)
Mark Jaquith on December 13, 2007 at 11:42 AM
Merry Christmas, JJJen.
BacaDog on December 13, 2007 at 12:00 PM
Didn’t see or hear the word Christmas anywhere in the White House Christmas video. Too bad.
Joshua P. Allem on December 13, 2007 at 12:45 PM
True dat, brotha.
ScottMcC on December 13, 2007 at 12:50 PM
Nice Shirts! Where did you get them, Citgo?
mile66 on December 13, 2007 at 1:12 PM
Doesn’t the Whitehouse have other things to spend resources on?
If I were the President I would be doing nothing but Building a fence and killing jihadist.
TheSitRep on December 13, 2007 at 1:52 PM
Um, where’s the Ron Paul Hanukkah video????
[snaps fingers]
Thats right!!! I forgot. He’s a NAZI and a Jew-hating pr!ck.
Andy in Agoura Hills on December 13, 2007 at 2:52 PM
For some reason I always favored Barbara over Jenna.
ThackerAgency on December 13, 2007 at 3:19 PM
Lol, turns out he was Bush’s Scottish Terrier. Haha, sorry, I had to… and he really set himself up for that joke with his part in the video.
RightWinged on December 13, 2007 at 4:36 PM
7 minutes too long? Come on, Scrooges, it’s just a bit of fun! It’s holiday stuff, it’s supposed to be sappy! Appreciate it for what it is. Besides, it’s not really for adults (except for those who appreciate kid stuff, like me, and I liked it). The outtake was a laugh.
JimC on December 13, 2007 at 8:02 PM
Fun fact: Mary Bomar, head of NPS, is a naturalized US citizen originally from England.
