Seriously, when our candidates all face off, the only two that really strike the bulls’ eye are Fred Thompson and Alan Keyes.

That public opinion shapers have done their best to extinguish awareness of Thompson and Keyes simply needs to be recognized and dealt with accordingly.

It is PRIMARY season, and past time for conservative media programs like radio talk shows and bloggers to host an inclusive conservative Republican series of debates. These conservative Republican media formats would represent us, the voters once dubbed the silent majority and would improve their own status by accepting this professional responsibility.

Yes, if you live in Atlanta, in the middle of the Dixie Desert, and luxuries like Greenland strawberries and Alaskan wine are trucked in to you from the Ocean Terminal in the Port of Memphis, life is going to be fine indeed…

That show-of-hands crap has no place in a presidential debate; an elementary school, maybe.

It was an easy trap kind of question. If you show your hand, you agree with what was stated in the question which was crap because Schoolmarm was essentially putting words into the candidates mouths.

Those who hastily raised their hands tasted the words and accepted them.

Fred could really be a powerhouse in this campaign, if he only gave it some effort. He has the qualities of a natural born leader.

Yeah…I was hoping for more when he made the comments he did. The whole question should have been slapped down hard.

I was thinking about this video this morning. It seemed Rudy almost threw his back out trying to get his hand up so fast, as did a couple others.

Responses to the asininity of this question should have been swift and forceful. Instead, Schoolmarm was allowed to pontificate.

You are born with leadership skills, Fred showed it spontaneously, he stood his ground, and everyone followed. When the pressure is on, followers turn to leaders, and that is what we saw.
McCain, sure of himself, Rudy sure of himself, Mitt, unsure of himself, but they all followed Fred.

That’s exactly what was said by some of the people who I was watching this with. I agree with how Fred seems to exhibit more leadership skills.

She was witnessing her own self destruction and had to compensate to some degree.

What I don’t get is why, after denying Thompson a minute to explain his views on the topic, she proceeded to give McCain and Giuliani time to explain their positions on it. What was that about?

It was all about Ms Irongirdle maintaining strict discipline and keeping the train wreck on schedule.

I’ll bet the liberal candidates aren’t monitored with a stop watch.

This is exactly right, which is why even though I like Rudy a lot and think he’d make a good president, I’ve begun to think he shouldn’t get the nomination. I think Fred and Mitt would make a good team, and purely from an age standpoint, it would make more sense if Fred was at the top of the ticket. Romney with 8 years under his belt as VP would be a terrific candidate in 2016. He’s a pretty good one now as it is.

My thoughts exactly! The only problem is that unless they form the ticket now before the nominee is selected, and presumably Mitt drops out and endorses Fred, it’s not likely either one will be on the ticket. I wonder if there’s any precedent for this type of scenario….

On top of that, how is it everyone was allowed to answer the question when she clearly said Fred could not?

I only really wish that more candidates had taken the opportunity that Thompson did and just pointed out what a childish idiot question that was. Hello – does PBS understand the word DEBATE…
Sheesh.

That kind of rhetoric may go over with his Congressional Cronies…It sure as hell, doesn’t pass the Smell Test with me.

I want someone, who’ll treat ‘em as the Rabid Dogs, they’ve proven themselves to be.

It was that bad of a debate that we can only focus on the 2 minutes of entertainment.

Like i said before: The moderator was the plant.

Fred continues to impress me, even if he’s not as active as other candidates.

You know that really long talky stretch in Terminator 2 where Ah-nold and crew are hanging out in the desert, taking a breather and sharing their feelings? And you just can’t wait for the T-1000 to catch up and start the climactic big-budget a$$-kicking SFX spectacular?

I’m kinda hoping that’s where we are in the campaign.

He’s the only one that was quick and witty enough to stand up against such a stupid question. On top of that, he was the only one strong enough to decline to answer the question if she was unwilling to let him answer correctly. It’s no wonder Fred doesn’t like the debate format, it’s ridiculous!
