Open thread: The “Is Hillary using sock puppets?” debate; Video: Obama to Hillary, “I’m looking forward to you advising me”

Second verse, same as the first. 2 p.m. ET, carried live on Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN, and livestreamed right here at the Des Moines Register website. Even if, like me, you’re inclined to skip it after yesterday’s fiasco, tune in for the first five minutes to see if Nurse Ratched has been replaced and whether Iraq and immigration are still off the table.

While you wait, read this. Another day, another clumsy Clinton mouthpiece.

Update: Dear god, they’re using the same moderator.

Update: By special request of the boss, the line of the day.

Update (Bryan):
I have to agree with commenter JVelez, that clip is pwnage for Obama.

I will NOT be voting for Bush this election.

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:10 PM

Pony looks good for 54, and a little young to be my Daddy.

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:10 PM

Silky for AG!

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:10 PM

I love how the rich personal injury lawyer keeps on railing against corporate greed.

notta_dhimmi on December 13, 2007 at 3:03 PM

Then you’ll love even more knowing he created a S-corp to save hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes.

Sue on December 13, 2007 at 3:11 PM

These answers are too slick. They had to have these questions beforehand!!!

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Hillary will only clap if someone else does.

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Question to Dodd re: “redeeming his family name”–what the heck is that? Ancient history!

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:11 PM

I really think Dodd could be the candidate in old style dem days

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Los Alamos….Clinton export corp.

Yep. These guys are SO going to beat Bush this time!

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:12 PM

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:13 PM

The Hill shrill laugh and Obama makes her eat it. Luv it.

notta_dhimmi on December 13, 2007 at 3:13 PM

Cackles is at it with the Clinton advisors.

Hillary, I’m looking forward to you advising me, as well

Scrumptious

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:13 PM

Hillary is such a dork.

Spirit of 1776 on December 13, 2007 at 3:13 PM

Boy Obama stumbled on that question about having so many Clinton advisers on his staff

LakeRuins on December 13, 2007 at 3:14 PM

And Obama captures the coveted ZING moment: “Hillary, I’m looking forward to you advising me as well.”

She deserved it for cackling like a witch at him like that.

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:14 PM

Iran does not exist I guess..the word has not been mentioned

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:14 PM

Clinton advisors = Clinton plants

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:15 PM

School marm getting out the ruler. She means it 30 seconds

LakeRuins on December 13, 2007 at 3:15 PM

“I passed”

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:15 PM

She’s gonna make Obama pay for that somehow.

Katrina………………….the local dems finest moments

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:16 PM

Democrats are going to be really surprised when they discover George Bush is not on the ballot in the Primary.

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:16 PM

George Bush thinks he’s king? Oh, jeez, why didn’t somebody tell me that?! I’m voting for Edwards now. He certainly won’t act like he’s a king if he becomes president.

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:17 PM

Hill wants to “remove the legacy of George Bush.” Pull out of Iraq prematurely and you’ll be doing exactly that you duplicitous hag.

notta_dhimmi on December 13, 2007 at 3:17 PM

So, basically they object to Bush’s signing statements, but they’re absolutely A-OK about using them the way they want to.

amerpundit on December 13, 2007 at 3:17 PM

Spend a lottttttttt of time with your family gal..do us all a favor

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:17 PM

Edwards needs a gospel group behind him when he speaks.

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:18 PM

Is Edwards saying his NYears resolution is to remember that a child is going to bed hungry tonight?

amerpundit on December 13, 2007 at 3:18 PM

We must stop terrorists from getting nukes, setting one off could effect the global climate, our democrat duty as stewards of the earth is to protect the planet at all costs.

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:19 PM

The jokes are flat-lining for these vacuums.

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:19 PM

At least Edwards kisses first.

Limerick on December 13, 2007 at 3:19 PM

No Iran…No immigration….

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:20 PM

I think the panel went to sleep

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:20 PM

I pity the Dems if this is all they get to choose from.

infidel on December 13, 2007 at 3:20 PM

Here we go. Lame quetsion time
New Years Resolution
Hillary – Exercise and campaign harder

Edwards – no resolution pleading about hungry children, begging for health care and daddy’s losing jobs

Dodd – Want to see country regain “moral authority”

Richardson – Lose weight, end congress and president dysfunctional relationship

Biden – Remember when things were bad

Obama – Better husband and father

LakeRuins on December 13, 2007 at 3:21 PM

Edwards is the Alan Keyes of this debate.

unamused on December 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM

Hill on Iowa: “I’ve eaten my way across the state.”

LOLZ. Yes Hill, I’m sure the details will be in someone’s book soon enough.

notta_dhimmi on December 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM

I think the panel went to sleep

AZCON on December 13, 2007 at 3:20 PM

I did, for real, thephone just woke me

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM

Iowa, please keep an eye on your children, Hill is eating her way across the state.

RINO_Hunter on December 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM

One state gets to control so much and no body can explain why it should be them instead of a state with some population and a cross section of the country

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM

They get to eat pancakes with you ,,we get TV ads

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:23 PM

Wow. I’ve never seen a grown man kiss the ass of an entire state like this.

unamused on December 13, 2007 at 3:23 PM

Iowans make up their own minds–that’s true. And they’re usually wrong, too.

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:24 PM

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:23 PM

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:24 PM

Obama is getting thinner, if that’s possible….

unamused on December 13, 2007 at 3:24 PM

Out of all of them, I’d go for Dodd, after this.

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:24 PM

profession politician molders ….how does that match to the ‘average’ american who can’t even name all these fools

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:25 PM

Not to be too crass&irrelevant but, Hillary isn’t aging well, maybe it’s the lighting, maybe she had a late night in the Obama war room, something is really bringing out those screaming & fuming facial hate lines.

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:25 PM

The moderator was Dr. Jekel today, yesterday she was Mr. Hyde

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:26 PM

Two small lead states and maybe three get more attention per person than what the issues are in the rest of the country

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:26 PM

The dem candidates are pathetic.

techno_barbarian on December 13, 2007 at 3:27 PM

PBS is so far left as is her paper she was at home ..republicans are what she doesn’t feel comfortable with..some neutral moderator they picked

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:27 PM

Hard to pick a neutral moderator from the MSM

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:28 PM

Could not find the time for a single question on Iran, immigration or the NIE..but Gitmo was like old home week

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:29 PM

I like Brit Hume’s description of this event: It was more of a “joint press conference” than a debate. He’s right.

This was still boring and unenlightening, but otherwise it was night-and-day with yesterday’s Republican debate–completely due to the moderator’s attitude and behavior.

aero on December 13, 2007 at 3:29 PM

WTF? The panel thought silky won?!

techno_barbarian on December 13, 2007 at 3:31 PM

I said they were going to say Edwards won.

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:31 PM

Considering who we have had to face would love to see them against a Hewitt, Coulter, Rush triple team

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:32 PM

The meter was always high for Edwards

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:32 PM

Hmmm… the same number also thought obama won.

techno_barbarian on December 13, 2007 at 3:32 PM

These panelists are all dripping with BDS

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:33 PM

What was that weird crowd noise at the end when she mentioned GOP debate.

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:33 PM

They don’t like ol’ hil, though. So I guess that’s good.

techno_barbarian on December 13, 2007 at 3:34 PM

This panel is indicative of an idealistic unintelligent person that a liberal is. Obama will veto all the laws that Bush created? Does this guy actually know the process of government or what branch play what role?

geckomon on December 13, 2007 at 3:34 PM

Blad guy with glasses saying these folks are “decent people” … oy!

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:34 PM

This panel is scary ignorant.

geckomon on December 13, 2007 at 3:35 PM

Thank goodness the terrorists aren’t looking to attack us anymore, whew, what a relief.

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:35 PM

Stick a fork in Hill, she is done, I hope!

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:35 PM

uh? which debate did this panel watch? was it the same one they televised?

christophercube on December 13, 2007 at 3:37 PM

On our side I would like to know how Nathan Burd who runs a website americansformitt got included in the focus group

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:37 PM

Blad guy with glasses saying these folks are “decent people” … oy!

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:34 PM

Yeah, but did you notice his lobotomy scar?

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:37 PM

Most of what this focus panel desires is what their senators and congress should be doing, not the POTUS.

geckomon on December 13, 2007 at 3:38 PM

abinitioadinfinitum on December 13, 2007 at 3:37 PM

That’s what that was? I thought that’s where the antennae sit when he watches tv.

yo on December 13, 2007 at 3:39 PM

Honestly, I don’t know how ya’ll can stand to watch these losers for more than five minutes. Everytime I do, it makes me want to throw my monitor through the wall.

CP on December 13, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Oh boy. Hilldabeast didn’t do so good. This will now get FUN. Expect HUGE (re dirty) hit pieces from her group. Will she rehire all the recently fired people?

mustang1 on December 13, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Nanny state is so great..can’t wait for them to decide the BlueRay HD DVD issues since us idiots can’t

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 3:44 PM

Moderator definitely going softer on time today than yesterday. Don’t know if that’s a response to criticism or a favorable bias to Dem candidates.

aero on December 13, 2007 at 2:22 PM

Aw….C’mon. She was distracted yesterday by having a full crack. She likely was desperate to give herself a reach-around and pull it out but knew the camera would be there.

No wedgies, no worries and no time limits!

Hate to say it, but that “Hillary advisor” clip is much better than Fred’s zinger yesterday.

Cackle. Humorless condescension. Topped with a pimp slap and a totally stunned Hillary.

Awesome.

CommentGuy on December 13, 2007 at 4:51 PM

I’m not reading 392 comments so someone may have already touched on this. If a Dem gets elected and there’s a major terrorist attack after they’ve recsended all the anti-terrorist safeguards as they say they will… There’ll never be another Democrat President in our lifetime.
