Mr. Clean gets dirty

Yesterday, we learned that the Hillary campaign is still trolling for dirt on Barack Obama. Evidently digging through his permanent school record going all the way back to kindergarten just wasn’t enough. We also learned that you don’t need to be altogether literate to work at the top levels of the Clinton machine.

HOW ARE YOU ?? I AM FIGHTING HARD >

Today, we learn that Obama is actually dropping some dirt on Edwards.

Circulating among Iowa labor circles, I am told, is this leaflet, which looks to be a standard opposition-research paper against former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC.

The shocker? It’s from Mr. Positive, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois.

Not that it’s a shocker that Obama is drawing differences between he and his opponents. (UPDATE: The Obama campaign says this document came because a local union requested information on the differences between him and his opponents.)

It’s a shocker because Obama chief strategist David Axelrod told ABC News that “One of the things people appreciate about (Obama) is he’s not a cheap-shot artist” and this flier is full of cheap shots.

The cheapest shot … that Edwards somehow has something to do with Whirlpool when the company was closing down Maytag plants in Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Tapper goes on to describe why the Whirlpool accusation is a cheap shot, and it is, and that Obama actually has a more direct connection to the Whirlpool shutdown, which is also true. It’s also true that neither had much to do with the decision at all.

This part of the leaflet isn’t a cheap shot, though, and doesn’t go back to Edwards’ grade school essays. If it’s accurate, it’s more evidence that Silky is a ginormous hypocrite.

There are two Americas, you see, and one of them is a big tax shelter in the Caymans.

I do remember reading elsewhere that Fortress was off-shore.

Silky is a ginormous hypocrite.

I wonder if he learned this technique from the Goracle, and his purchase of carbon credits from a company that he owns?

peski on December 11, 2007 at 12:49 PM

I heard from a very credible source that Silky puts from the rough.

Why would they go after Edwards… he’s not even a threat, is he?

Campaigns have learned that once people make up their minds, they won’t change.
You can see it on these posts. The Mitt-wits will die with a ballot in their hand. They consider Mitt a God, that has done no wrong, has never flip-flopped, and they cast disdain at any other candidate (the most vicious personal statements come from his supporters…bigots, liars, bigots, liars, more bigots…)
Paul’s supporters, they will go Democrat if he doesn’t get the nom.
McCain, a war hero, any thing else any you are unpatriotic.

Fred, with not a strong leadership background, you would think he told Moses what to do.
Rudy, why he saved NYC, what more do you want?
Huck, talks to God, what more do youuu want?
Tancredo, just get the Mexicans out…that’s all his supporters care about.
I am missing one, and he may be one of the best, but where is he?
So Obama can go back on his word to catch the ones he has not “endeared” his faithful will forget his mud-slinging, and he is trying to catch the weak.

Because to go after Hillary would ruin his chance at VP should things no go his way. The Clinton’s have a long memory and are not known for forgiveness.

He’s pretty strong in Iowa… don’t ask me why, because I’m no longer able to figure out what the heck is going through our own voter’s heads much less those of the Dems.

Look at it this way. What Obama needs is the win in Iowa. Hillary is dropping, meaning the margin on non-core supporters is taking the biggest hit and the pickins aren’t as good. A large number in the Obama-Edwards group is “Anybody but Hillary”, so Obama is already on their “possible” list. He just needs to peel a few away to get the win. Edwards is the best source for the numbers needed.

Barry should be trying to win over the Edward’s clan. Dumping on Edwards is not the way. He needs some down time with Oprah and Dr. Phil.

We already what he needs to do to win over the Clinton followers, which is to start spending the night with more Black women.

I think that the Obama sees Edwards’ supporters as votes against Hillary. This may be his play to steal some voters from Edwards. Edwards voters are closer to Obama in spirit than they are to Hillary. Edwards’ 15-20% could give Obama a solid lead.

Also, I do not see any real chances of Clinton Obama ticket. I think once the Clinton camp released the hounds on Obama, their friendship and future amicability have been dashed.

Excellent theories, both.

When accusing someone of supporting a right-to-work law is considered slinging mud…well, it says something about you.
