Larry O’Donnell admits he’s afraid to criticize Islam publicly

Consider this post a companion post to Allah’s, about the Muslim man who murdered his daughter because she wouldn’t wear the hijab. If you criticize the man and/or his religious motivation, consider yourself more courageous than one of the MSM’s prominent pundits.

That pundit is Larry O’Donnell, who was last seen going nuts on Mormons. O’Donnell appeared on the Hugh Hewitt show yesterday and over the course of the conversation, made this admission.

HH: Would you say the same things about Mohammed as you just said about Joseph Smith?

LO’D: Oh, well, I’m afraid of what the…that’s where I’m really afraid. I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I’m afraid for my life if I do.

HH: Well, that’s candid.

LO’D: Mormons are the nicest people in the world. They’re not going to ever…

HH: So you can be bigoted towards Mormons, because they’ll just send you a strudel.

LO’D: They’ll never take a shot at me. Those other people, I’m not going to say a word about them.

HH: They’ll send you a strudel. The Mormons will bake you a cake and be nice to you.

LO’D: I agree.

HH: Lawrence O’Donnell, I appreciate your candor.

Doesn’t that say it all? Jack M. delivers the justified smackdown.

Way to stand up for your beliefs, Larry! What a magnificent example of modern liberal thought you are! Why a more assertive defense of “speaking truth to power” I’ve never seen!!!111!!!11!1eleventy!

You freaking hypocrite.

You know, liberals really are the prototypical schoolyard bully. They are perfectly willing to badger and berate all those they perceive as easy victims. In fact, just think of their demands for your milkmoney as a form of taxation.

But the minute they face the threat (real or imagined) that they are going to get their clock cleaned, all their First Amendment Courage disappears in a yellow ink stained puddle down their leg.

To hypocrite I would add “useless coward.” The one global struggle in which our basics rights are actually on the line, and liberals like O’Donnell don’t have the backbone to join up on the right side. They stick to attacking safe targets like the Osmonds when the ayatollahs are out there working on nukes and who knows what else.

I wonder, who else out there agrees with O’Donnell on this but lacks even the courage to admit that? Does, for instance, Naomi Wolf actually attack Bush as a tyrant because she’s secure in the knowledge that he won’t actually turn the awesome power of the government on her? Do all those atheists and secular leftists out there who spend so much energy criticizing Christians while ignoring Islam do so because they, like O’Donnell, know Christians won’t respond with violence but Muslims will?

Update: And when CAIR instructs the MSM what to say and how to say it with regard to Islam, what will MSM pundits like Larry O’Donnell do? Will they denounce the instructions or will they meekly acquiesce?

Nail on the Head. If Bushco was as bad as liberals made it out to be, there wouldn’t be any liberals out there to complain.

A thought on “bigotry” – to criticize anyone’s religious beliefs is not on the same level of prejudice against race or ethnicity. Think about the way “Islamophobia” gets tossed around to label critics of Islam as racists.

It may rub people the wrong way to criticize/mock/blatantly insult Christianity or Mormonism, but for HH to play the “bigotry card” is pretty lame. At best, it’s unconvincing. At worst, he’s playing the Geraldo game of reducing everything to “bigotry” in order to claim the Mantle of Moral Authority.

And yeah, Lawrence O’Donnell is a wimp, but give him a break – he probably can’t get a conceal-carry permit wherever the hell he lives…

Apparently, if you allow someone to mess with you (or ‘diss you), it’s perfectly okay for you to pull them apart like warm bread. But if you threaten the entire world with beheading and Sharia Law, then people will toe the line.

Thank you, leftwing idiots, for making the world safe for fascism, ignorance and cowardice!

thejackal on December 11, 2007 at 2:26 PM

Someone needs to remind Lawrence that he and his spineless friends are the favorite prey of the jihadists. They target the weak and avoid the strong. They slaughter their Muslim brothers while they pray in their mosques, yet run and hide at the sight of our troops bearing arms.

Lawrence has shown his hand and moved to the front of the line.

Oops.

What is it that makes the name O’Donnell synonymous with spineless jackassery?

LO’D: Mormons are the nicest people in the world. They’re not going to ever…

I eagerly await the “Mormonism is an evil cult!” crowd to denounce this and tell us how Mormons are really secretly behind every murder in the United States in the past century or whatever the heck the nonsense is.

Well, at least he finally said something nice about me. Which begs the question, how can I be a slavedriving, racist, lying, fraud etc etc yet still be nice enough to bake him a strudel? Isn’t that really stretching the limits of cognitive dissonance?

But then, he’s a liberal–he lives with that cognitive dissonance every. single. day.

Still, glad he admitted he’s a coward. Bully for him.

For those who have never read it, or those who wish to refresh their memories, below is a link to the text of the entire speech that ends “Give me Liberty, or give me Death.” Patrick Henry’s words have never been as important as they are today. The consequences of failing to heed his warning are even greater now than they were under King George.

This seems like a humorous exchange that you are taking way too seriously. His criticism of Islam would be (among other things) its inciting of violence. That was not his criticism of Mormonism. He criticized Mormonism for being a racist false religion founded by a lying con-man. Whether or not he has the courage to face off with Islamic Rage Boy is irrelevant to the issue of whether his criticisms of Mormonism are accurate and whether they are fair comment on Mitt’s candidacy.

Many moonbat screeds are known for their excessive use of exclamation marks to show a variety of emotions, running from “extreme moonbatty agreement” to “extreme moonbatty disgust.”

Somewhere along the line people started mocking these “!!!” fests by throwing random “1″ in, as if the typist were so feverish that they didn’t notice the bad keystrokes. “Eleventy” evolved as a further snark to show that you were aware of the marks, and were typing them to be a smart ass.

Later, I’m going to write a complete discourse on the use of emoticons by moonbats, but this should suffice for now!!11!!!eleventy!

Jack M. on December 11, 2007 at 4:37 PM

I disagree with the story of Larry O’Donnell as coward and what it means in terms of the center-left. It actually takes courage to admit that you are afraid in the way Larry did. An authentic coward would weasel out of admitting that he is coward. For instance, the authentic coward could counter-attack by claiming that moslems are oppressed but mormons have the power.

Let’s look at the good side of this story. The more people say they afriad of moslems, the more receptive will the audience be for people who speak the truth about Islam. And public declaration of fear of muslims make a mockery of moslem’s whining about their oppression while throwing a riot. What Larry did is the best way to get through to the center left about the dangers of Islam. (And we should remember that no logic penetrates the far left, so it’s the center left that we need to convince and can convince about the dangers of Islam).

thuja on December 11, 2007 at 4:38 PM

You have to read the entire interview!

O’Donnell is the biggest hypocrite I’ve seen in a long, long, time.

And he doesn’t know what misogynist means.

HH: Okay. Are you a misogynist?

LO’D: What is a misogynist? What do you mean? Oh, no, I don’t think so.

HH: Well, they don’t, women aren’t allowed to be priests.

LO’D: No, I think that’s a big mistake. I think that’s a really…

And he gets to lecture the public on religion.

LO’D: I have a very flexible relationship to Catholicism.

LO’D: No, Catholicism, as I told you, is extremely flexible

There’s a late 20th Century version of American Catholicism that allows for all sorts of things that were not allowed, and not believed in the first half of this century

LO’D: This religion (LDS) is a joke when it comes to changing its direction.

HH: You specifically said…

LO’D: It changes its direction purely for politics.

So Catholicism is “flexible”, and LDS “changes direction”.

And he gets to lecture the public on religion.

What does it say that some little skinny white woman is braver than this man? I mean, come on, man. Don’t let me show you up!! Been to Israel three months after the war. Wore a IDF t-shirt in many many places I probably shouldn’t. Will be making another trip shortly to the same general area with some Israelis.

It’s like I’m TRYING to tick “them” off……

It takes a brave man to admit that they’re a wimp against people who might actually kill him. It takes an even braver person to shrug and say, “It’ll be a cold day in a very very warm place before I let that shut me up.”

Gotta say it:

Larry O’Donnell is nothing but a creepy liar (pronounced creeeepy liaaaaaaaaar).

Seriously, he’s your typical (unfortunately mainstream) liberal. He attacks Mormons because he knows they won’t attack back violently but stops short of being critical about a group that just might do something about his outrageous remarks. This is no “profiles in courage” moment.

He reminds me of a blogger I see around. He was violently against invading Iraq to the point he wanted the moonbats to storm the White House in anger over the very thought of invading. Then the first of the hate-America rallies was put on by A.N.S.W.E.R. This guy was nowhere to be found after weeks of counting down to the rally. Turns out it was too cold in DC that day. O’Donnell has proven he’s equally spineless when it comes to putting his convictions into substantive action.

You know, liberals really are the prototypical schoolyard bully. They are perfectly willing to badger and berate all those they perceive as easy victims.

If we do have talking points going out every morning like the liberals, please put this on there and have every conservative who goes on a show with odonnell, wolf or any of the other miserable leftists hammer them with this and not let up. We need to take the gloves off and focus on the obvious instead of being all polite and mealy mouthed. The next elected republican who refers to schumer, kennedy, pelosi or reid as “My good freind and collegue” should go back to their home districts to face recall.

11!!!11!1eleventy!

This is internet meme silliness. I will demonstrate what it means by a simple series of sentences.

Hello!!!!

Hello!!!1!1!! (the one’s are typos because I was typing too fast)

Hello!!!111one!11!! (the ‘one’ is now me making fun of my weak fifth finger on the shift key.)

Hello!111!!!!!1one!!!eleventy111!!! (The ‘eleventy’ is now a further derivation, using a non-existent tens place number (11 instead of seventy, eighty, etc.))

One can only imagine where it will go from here. Maybe..

Hello!!!!22!!!!222

Lord, I hope not.

Will they denounce the instructions or will they meekly acquiesce?

What do you think? They will fall to their knees in a pool of Pi$$ while weeping for mercy.
