Here’s the schedule. Can the Dolphins finally pick up a win? Will Dallas knock the Lions out of the playoff picture? The Packers will be looking to rebound against the Raiders after losing 10 days ago, and the Ravens will be looking for some revenge when they host the Colts. The Patriots are at home against the Steelers, who need a win to stay ahead of the Browns, who are likely to beat the Jets. Nearly every game has playoff implications.

There’s talk Cameron isn’t even going to survive the season! Imagine… Look for Curtis Martin to become part of ownership so he can be the hands-on guy (that’s my hunch)
Dallas will beat them so badly the spread will look small.
The Ravens sold out last week and will have nothing left for the rest of the season. Look for peyton to light it up.
TheBigOldDog on December 9, 2007 at 12:25 PM
Bucs v Houston. Bryan always forget the Bucs, by far the most important team on my little planet! 8-4 and can win their division today.
lorien1973 on December 9, 2007 at 12:25 PM
Anybody catch the USA Today story about Ditka’s charity? Not so good.
Payouts to ex-players small from Ditka’s charity
TheBigOldDog on December 9, 2007 at 12:29 PM
Where would the Eagles be right now if they held onto Garcia and traded McNabb?
TheBigOldDog on December 9, 2007 at 12:32 PM
My girlfriend has won more money in the pick-em pool I run (both last year and this year) and I have yet to win a week in the last two seasons…oh the shame, oh the humiliation!
Liberty or Death on December 9, 2007 at 12:33 PM
I think the Steelers will defeat the Pats. Low scoring game? Who knows.
Zorro on December 9, 2007 at 12:35 PM
Everybody knows I am an unrepentant, Die-Hard, Indianapolis Colts fan. Big time Colts fan.
But I really do respect the Patriots. They have accomplished so much.
But does anybody remember the Indianapolis Colts back in 2002?
What about the Colts in the 2003 season?
How about in 2004 regular season?
The point is that the Colts back then were called a “finese team” simply because they passed, passed, and then they passed some more. The knock against the Colts back then (beside their lousy defense) was that the Colts could not play “smack down, run offense football” when the weather turns to nasty cold air, instead of temperature-controlled RCA Dome. And the Colts could never advance in the playoffs because their offensive line was geared towards pass protection and not run blocking.
But things changed later.
Things became different in 2005 season. And the offense became even more run-balanced in 2006, leading to a Super Bowl.
The Patriots, while being excellent in so many areas, may be guilty of just being “pass-happy” and being called “finese.”
When the weather changes to brutal cold, you need to run the ball often. I am uncertain if the Patriots can do that with their “pass-happy” offensive mentality, thus leading to my healthy skepticism about their playoff potential.
ColtsFan on December 9, 2007 at 12:36 PM
Not sure what you mean by “sold out.” Maybe you dislike the Ravens even more than I do, but I watched them play their hearts out and get beaten by a stupid move by their own coaching staff. Like I say, I don’t like them, but give them their due for the Pats game

tlynch001 on December 9, 2007 at 12:46 PM
I agree, I too don’t care much for the Ravens but they really did play their hearts out and showed a lot of guts against a really tough team and showed other teams that the Patriots are not invincible. I think the Steelers have a good chance against them today.
Liberty or Death on December 9, 2007 at 12:48 PM
Those of us in the NY market sans satellite get treated to the stirring Jets-Browns affair at 4:15 rather than Steelers-Patriots.
I’ll decorate the Christmas tree instead.
I like the Giants by three in the early game, Dallas by 21, Pats by seven.
JammieWearingFool on December 9, 2007 at 12:54 PM
New England by 13…watch and weep all you haters!
SouthernGent on December 9, 2007 at 12:55 PM
I have nothing to discuss here, I’m a Panthers fan. :-(
TwinkietheKid on December 9, 2007 at 12:55 PM
I’m in Raleigh and couldn’t care less about that team in Charlotte. Charlotte gets on my nerves…”metrolina”? Please.
SouthernGent on December 9, 2007 at 1:05 PM
I went to high school with Ernest Graham. In fact I was on the same football team with him. In fact he replaced me as punter, so we could run the fake. And yes, I wasn’t a very good punter. Mariner Fightn’ Tritons.
Weight of Glory on December 9, 2007 at 1:08 PM
Forgive me for being very jealous of you.
I am in Chicago-Land, and it is VERY COLD right now!!!!
ColtsFan on December 9, 2007 at 1:10 PM
I don’t know much about the “family feud” that may exist in the Carolinas since I’m in Vegas, but the Pats are 10 point favorites…..and they won’t cover the spread.
TwinkietheKid on December 9, 2007 at 1:13 PM
To sell out in athletic terms means pushing yourself past the breaking point. A point beyond which your body takes a long time to recover. That’s why I doubt they’ll have much left today or the rest of the season. That was their Super Bowl last week and they left it all out on the field.
TheBigOldDog on December 9, 2007 at 1:13 PM
I’m gonna rub it in…hehe. Here’s our 5-day forecast!
SouthernGent on December 9, 2007 at 1:16 PM
I do not know why I clicked on the html link. But I did.
It was painful.
Very painful.
ColtsFan on December 9, 2007 at 1:33 PM
I live in Pittsburgh…..
Its gonna be a close game, I think the Pats wont cover the spread, but they’ll squeek out the win. :(
mrfixit on December 9, 2007 at 1:40 PM
10-0 Lions. Ugh, The December Cowboys are back. Why do they look like they are moving in slow motion?
clghitis on December 9, 2007 at 1:40 PM
You want cold? Come north of the toll booths into the land of cheese and beer.
Good news; 7-0 Packers. Now, why couldn’t the December Boys show up a week early? :-)
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 1:52 PM
Bad news; the Boys got onto the scoreboard. 10-7 Lions.
Good news; the special teams for the Packers are special again; 14-0.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 1:56 PM
14-0 Packers
Sammy316 on December 9, 2007 at 1:57 PM
Here’s how cold it is in Green Bay; the whistles are frozen.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM
At the half:
Green Bay 14, Oakland 7
Cincinnati 10, St. Louis 0
Houston 14, Tampa Bay 7
Philadelphia 7, NY Giants 6
Late in the 2nd quarter:
Detroit 20, Dallas 14 (Cowboys just scored)
Tennessee 3, San Diego 0 (should be your halftime score barring a special teams or bomb)
Jacksonville 10, Carolina 3 (Panthers are driving)
Buffalo 31, Miami 7
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 2:29 PM
I usually get a lot of dirty looks and one finger salutes when I am out and about here in Pittsburgh when I’m wearing my Reggie White jersey or my Packers jacket hehehe
mrfixit on December 9, 2007 at 2:31 PM
Enemy territory and all that (and here you thought I’d compare Steeler fans to compassionate lieberals). Still, the colors need to be represented.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 2:34 PM
Never knew that use of the term. You may well be right that there’s not much left. Here in the Balto area, though, the players are telling the sports guys that they’re still to be dealt with.
Longhorn Six on December 9, 2007 at 2:47 PM
Halftime, thought I’d stop in to see what’s going on. I see the Cowgirls brought their on staff refs up to the bigger D. Apparently there will be no pass interference on the Girls today.
Looks like Miami just can’t get it together.
All in all, a pretty good day for NFL Ticket. Oh ya, the Pack is dusting the happless Raiders, 7 @ 17 now in the 3rd.
GO PACK!
oakpack on December 9, 2007 at 2:49 PM
437!
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 2:55 PM
That would be a 80-yard pass to Greg Jennings.
24-7 Packers after an extra-long PAT caused by a face mask on the initial try.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 2:57 PM
That’s why you do not field punts rolling to the end zone inside the 10. Upon further review, the ball was fumbled before the returner was down at the 12, ball recovered in the end zone by the Packers.
31-7 Green Bay.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 3:13 PM
Missed it! Way to go Lions
Gatordoug on December 9, 2007 at 3:35 PM
438, as Donald Lee flattens the front row at Lambeau.
38-7 Packers.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 3:49 PM
Very impressive showing by the Packers today!
Sammy316 on December 9, 2007 at 3:54 PM
Agreed.
ColtsFan on December 9, 2007 at 3:55 PM
Now go Lions!
Sammy316 on December 9, 2007 at 3:55 PM
Your 2007 NFC North champions (this time, I’m not a week early):
Green Bay Packers
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 4:02 PM
Pack clinches NFC North.
Sammy316 on December 9, 2007 at 4:02 PM
Cardiac Cowboys! 28-27, sorry Sammy316
clghitis on December 9, 2007 at 4:13 PM
2007 NFC East Champs!
clghitis on December 9, 2007 at 4:14 PM
I’ll say this, even though my Boys won….they got whooped!
Well played Detroit. Well played indeed!
Limerick on December 9, 2007 at 4:15 PM
Will Matt Millen get fired this time?
I hope not.
steveegg on December 9, 2007 at 4:16 PM
Oh BOY! The Steelers-Pats game is blacked out in the Seattle market and all I can watch is the crummy SeaHAWRKs game. Guess I need to buy that satellite dish, huh?
fiatboomer on December 9, 2007 at 4:26 PM
After 59 minutes and 42 seconds of screaming, I’m finally a happy Boys fan again. lol
Kowboy on December 9, 2007 at 4:48 PM
Don’t think I’d be too happy being a Cowgirl fan. They’ve gotten out played the last two games that I know of.
3 @ 13 for the Pats. It’s over. 3 @ 14
oakpack on December 9, 2007 at 4:54 PM
C’mon Patriots…score another TD before the half!
SouthernGent on December 9, 2007 at 5:38 PM
Eh, FG’ll do…I guess.
SouthernGent on December 9, 2007 at 5:40 PM
Before this game started, I was asking “Anthony who?” Now I know exactly who he is. He’s the guy who keeps getting torched in pass defense against the Pats.
Pablo on December 9, 2007 at 6:13 PM
Pittsburgh’s defense is not the same without Polamalu (sp?).
I’m not watching any more.
Jezla on December 9, 2007 at 6:48 PM
The unbeatable offense of the Patriots is only beat by the Patriots Cheerleaders! Onward to an unbeaten season!
Go Pats!!!
IntheNet on December 9, 2007 at 6:56 PM
13-34 Pats with 7 mins to go.
The Steelers are pretty well boned short of a few miracles.
BKennedy on December 9, 2007 at 6:59 PM
Can’t watch in NY. Sucks.
On to Colts/Ravens.
JiangxiDad on December 9, 2007 at 7:07 PM
How ’bout them Patriots?????????
thegreatbeast on December 9, 2007 at 7:47 PM
Didn’t see the Packers game, but I followed it on NFL.com. Hardly seems they were outplayed. Got a lil Blue Star envy going there?
Kowboy on December 9, 2007 at 9:29 PM
I guess it was crummy if you are a Cardinals fan. The SeaHAWKS were ON today as they doubled up Arizona 42-21. The first half was easily the best sustained football they HAWKS played all year. Hasselbeck was hitting receivers with amazing precision. His first half QB rating was 153, and 130+ for the entire game. They would have played the Patriots straight up today.
The defense was all over Kurt Warner. 5 sacks (can you say Kearny) and 4 interceptions, including an 80+ yard pick-6 by Marcus Trufant. The offense had less than 100 yards rushing, but were in control the whole game.
The Seahawks clinced the NFC West for the fourth straight year. If they win out and the Packers drop two of their last three games, the Seahawks get the first week bye in the playoffs. Come on Packers, you know you can do it.
Mallard T. Drake on December 9, 2007 at 10:01 PM
Whatever the Cowboys did in the last minutes of that game… I hope they remember it. They rocked!!!! How bout dem Cowboys? heh? :)
johnnyU on December 9, 2007 at 11:01 PM
Hurts, don’t it?
Scoreboard.
Asher on December 9, 2007 at 11:54 PM
Dream on, pal.
thegreatbeast on December 10, 2007 at 12:08 AM
I know it sounds like fan blather, but the Hawks were great today. I was there and the places Hasselbeck was putting the ball were, dare I say, Bradyesque. And the defense: 5 sacks, 5 INTs. The saying is “on any given Sunday….” Well today would have been one of those Sundays. Let’s just say the Hawks would not have melted down like the Ravens did.
Mallard T. Drake on December 10, 2007 at 1:35 AM
I missed most of their report, but it sounds like ESPN is already starting the Mick Vick rehab, he’s not such a bad guy stories.
Other observations/complaints about ESPN: what’s with the ESPN Deportes update with the hot latina reporter? Who cares what the soccer scores in Mexico City were.
The biggest complaint about ESPN, especially during football season: Chris Berman. He is the definition of “ass clown.” Is he really that popular that the brass at ESPN think he is worth keeping around? Most people I know thinks Berman is a joke at best. He makes watching NFL highlights painful. Every time he utters that “whoop,” I want to smack him, hard. He is so 1991. He doesn’t realize his time is past.
Mallard T. Drake on December 10, 2007 at 1:44 AM
13-0
Mr. Shula and Co can keep the champagne on ice for another week.
darkpixel on December 10, 2007 at 6:01 AM
This is why I don’t put money on these games. I couldn’t call a hog without mucking it up, let alone a football game!
TwinkietheKid on December 10, 2007 at 8:31 AM
At least my Bears didn’t lose on Sunday…
Prediction – the Dolphins will go 1 and 15. They’ll beat NE in week 16.
