Video: Andrew Young disses Obama, extols the Clintons’ blackness

Thanks to to Redding News Review for the story and Dan Riehl for this jaw-dropping video of former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young talking smack about Barack Obama and touting Bill Clinton’s, ahem, familiarity with black women. Young also pushes the Obama/madrassa rumor. Sometimes, as I noted yesterday in another context, your biggest fans are your worst enemies:

The liberal mind is very strange.

I remember Lani Guinier yelling at some Tavis Smiley event about how Justice Thomas wasn’t really a black man, the crowd loved it.

Weird stuff. Just creepy.

benrand on December 8, 2007 at 10:51 AM

The only opinion I’m less interested in than Hillary’s is Andrew Young’s. The guy is just begging for a parnership in the Justice Brothers law firm.

Longhorn Six on December 8, 2007 at 10:54 AM

Sometimes spelled “partnership.”

Longhorn Six on December 8, 2007 at 10:55 AM

Just wow. Say anything to get what you want. I get so dizzy from the spin cycle, but I don’t think anybody is being fooled. Some believe what they want and then justify it however they want. Truth? What is truth? Lying ain’t no way to find it.

Ordinary1 on December 8, 2007 at 10:56 AM

Jaw-dropping video! Can you imagine any white person getting away with these comments? They’d be labeled a racist Neanderthal in nanoseconds.

So when a Clinton does shuck-n-jive pandering it makes them ‘authentic’, gives them credibility? Are people really that stupid?

“Clinton did the moonwalk…” HAHAHA I’d love to see the video of that!

rockbend on December 8, 2007 at 10:57 AM

Billy Jeff is a straight-up P.I.M.P.

When he told Juanita Broddrick to “put some ice on that,” he meant she should get diamond inlays in her teeth, dawg.

saint kansas on December 8, 2007 at 10:57 AM

Michelle, am I hearing Andy Young correctly? Is he extolling immoral behavior (i.e. Bill being with more black women) as a plus in the context of Hillary’s presidential campaign? I better listen to that video again.

Zorro on December 8, 2007 at 11:02 AM

These people actually take all of the fun out of sex.

bbz123 on December 8, 2007 at 11:06 AM

That was insane. If this guy was supporting me, I would tell him to please not tell anyone

I’ve known some nutty, racist, ignorant people in my life, but this guy wins the prize.

What does Hilary attacking women that Bill molested (in defense)have to do with her being a good president? Is that a quality racist Black men admire?

How did Obama lose his Chinese accent and get that Southern fried thing working?

Hening on December 8, 2007 at 11:06 AM

Mel Reynolds probably had more young Catholic white girls than Slick…

So does that make him white?

Just trying to swim through the pools of idiotic logic here…

benrand on December 8, 2007 at 11:23 AM

This is so bad, it almost makes me question whether Andy is supporting the Clintons.

Dusty on December 8, 2007 at 11:44 AM

Clinton, the governor of one of the most racist state, is now hailed as ’the country’s first black president’.

There is not doubt that he has totally flim-flamed the blacks who think they are still living on a plantation.

However, does he meet Sharpton’s litmus test of being black by being “down for the struggle”?

I knew Clinton went down, but I don’t recall it being for the civil rights movement.

*Game show host voice* Oooooh, unfortunately, you’re an eeevil rightwinger, which means you lose all black points you may have acquired for marrying a black girl, sorry about that!

Bad Candy on December 8, 2007 at 12:20 PM

The strongest evidence to date of the Clinton campaign’s spin that Obama has no chance to win because America is just too racist… he could even be crucified!

I did appreciate the frank admission that Hillary spearheaded the bimbo eruption committee.

It appears these Clinton supporters believe they’re electing Bill all over again, not Hillary.

Tony737 on December 8, 2007 at 12:26 PM

I have never understood how Mr. Clinton has been able to hypnotize most black Americans into believing all this crap. They even asked this question at the Florida Black Republican forum I saw on CSPAN last weekend. Even they were mystified.

*shrugs*

SouthernGent on December 8, 2007 at 12:33 PM

Bill grew up “poor” and around Black folks. That is one of the reasons he relates so well with them. I will to bet that when Bill came home for school, he was taken care by a “Mammy” while his mother worked.

Heck, even I know what a “Soul Train” line is.

Travis Bickle on December 8, 2007 at 1:11 PM

Ever the politician, Andrew Young is now firmly in the running to be the George Wallace of the 21st century.

i.e. a racist with the chutzpah to stand up and speak about it publicly, and feign righteous indignation if anybody even suggests what he’s doing, or the way he is doing it is in any way inappropriate.

At this point in American history, he’s one of the only group around actively keeping racism from dying a well deserved death. That group would be the people who only know how to discuss just about any topic at all through the lens of racism, and taking the position that they speak for racism’s victims.

Which, at this point, would be just about everyone that has to put up with their schtick.

It’s a pity that people who actually buy into it don’t realize the way they’re being played.

Wind Rider on December 8, 2007 at 1:11 PM

And the Andrew Youngs of the world think black Republicans are traitors to their race and Uncle Toms.. cow-towing to a white man is the saddest thing ever.

Your knowledge base in in dire need of an update. ;-)

In my family we have a couple of older members who have dementia (aka senility). Mr. Young seems to use their same tortured logic.

So if “Black” no longer refers to race but is a euphemism for “Liberal”, then hate crime statutes impose stiffer penalties for crimes committed against liberals making them a protected political class. Some animals are more equal than others indeed.

ronsfi on December 8, 2007 at 1:42 PM

Even though I knew that’s how these so-called “black leaders” think. Hearing it said out loud still sent shudders up my spine.
Did he say he was more comfortable with whites than with Obama? Well, if he did, it will explain why he and his merry band of “civil rights activist” are so determined to infantilize black people. They truly believe we are not capable of.
Let’s see if this makes it to the MSM’s, and if it does, how they will spin it.

Should be an interesting week.

Andrew Young – Wikipedia
MSNBC article about Walmart fiasco

Well, I think they should; they ran the `mom and pop’ stores out of my neighborhood,” the paper quoted Young as saying. “But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they’ve ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it’s Arabs; very few black people own these stores.

Remember those lovely words uttered by Mr. Young? I believe he is looking for a more flattering or sympathetic bookend to an impressive career. He was very embarrassed at being dropped by Walmart and being forced to apologize when so many other African-Americans have made equally ridiculous statements.

It’s sad. Andrew Young is a true pioneer. Lest we forget, he came up and excelled at a time when African-Americans were not fully welcomed to enjoy America’s prosperity. Many whites and blacks have all but forgotten what people had to go through to survive, much less thrive under the threat of social injustice and terror at the hands of other Americans.

So, I am unwilling to write off Andrew Young’s courage and groundbreaking achievements because he’s turned into a doddering old fool. If I did that I would be fully disenfranchised as a citizen because they ALL seem to reach this point in their career.

Also, I am touched by the softened racial overtones from Republicans towards Obama. All of sudden, we now have this figurehead through which we can portray our most PC racial ideals. We now rush to defend Obama’s blackness against the Democrats, how quaint. It’s as if in an attempt to highlight Republican righteousness, we keep pointing out the Dems’ racial duplicity.

It’s gonna backfire. We will wear the stink of being perceived as a “racist” political party for another generation.

Clinton’s stepfather owned the buick dealership in Little Rock and they lived in the nice part of town.

NOTHING is true about the clinton story.

TO:The Race Card on December 8, 2007 at 2:09 PM
Yes I will acknowledge Andrew Young’s achievement. But I do not believe that he is such a doddering old fool as you make him out to be. Andrew just didn’t step on that stage and start spouting out at the mouth (did you hear the audience applause?). No, common sense will tell you that this is stuff Andrew and his buddies in the “civil rights movement” sit back and discuss everyday. Andrew Young, Jesse Jackson et.al, believes they are the true “black leaders”. They believe any black person with political ambitions must first pay “homage” to them or suffer the consequences. They believe that Obama is not a true “African American” because his father is a true African. Figure that one out.
What Andrew Young said on that tape is what he and other “civil rights” leaders believe, and practiced for the past decades. That black people are not capable off, and without their guidance and liberal assistance, black will be doomed forever.
And as for blacks voting en masse for Democrats? The majority do it because it makes their day-to-day life much easier. If you believe that as a white conservative you have it tough. Multiply that by one million, and that’s how tough black conservatives have it. We not only have to endure constant jeering and name calling (uncle tom-white wannabe-sellout),we must also always have our guard up to defend against physical assaults.
I should know, I have been a black conservative all my adult life.
Maybe this is something the MSM’s might want to look into…huh? Sorry, my mind drifted away a minute.

Rightwingsparkle on December 8, 2007 at 3:00 PM

Screaming is all one can do sometimes. You highlight the failure of the Old Guard civil rights activists. Many have not evolved along with America. The changes that many fought and died for have long been enacted; Young and others would do well to acknowledge this.

The problem is not they focus on civil rights. Rather, it is their unchecked liberalism. When liberal Democrats run out of issues, they will often dip into the poison well of race to ratchet up their relevance. Andrew Young is guilty as charged.

RMR on December 8, 2007 at 3:35 PM

IMHO It’s not quite one million, but certainly being a black Republican can be challenging if not maddening on some days.

I too, was called oreo, Tom, white boy, traitor, nigger, etc growing up. Fools; they just made me stronger. So, I have never been silent about racism. If you’re black and say something racist against whites around me, stand back. So needless to say, I’ve been in a few scuffles over just that. But nothing compares to trying to explain liberal bias in the press to a symposium of minority journalists. :)

But to be honest, I don’t want deserve any credit for being black and conservative. In fact, I don’t deserve credit for being black at all, from conservatives or liberals.

I do agree that many of the political strategies employed by so-called “black leaders” (a despicable phrase) are shady. I just think that their tactics are typically liberal and I am rarely surprised by them.

What gets me is when Republicans act like Democrats. I want my team to fight a good fight. Naturally, Dems have perverted Obama’s run into a race referendum. But I fear Republicans will try to capitalize on Democratic folly only to expose our own.

The Race Card on December 8, 2007 at 6:00 PM

This coming co-Presidency of Hillary and Bill is frightening and Republicans better get their S*** together and forget people like Mike Huckelberry or whatever his name is.

Hilts on December 8, 2007 at 6:02 PM

Why does he talk about Bill, I thought Hillary was running.

Or, since we’re throwing spouses into the mix, is Michelle Obama also insufficiently black? That doesn’t seem to be covered here.

So, we’re comparing Bill vs. Obama… and ignoring the ladies, because who really believes that a skirt would be left running things, instead of being a front for Bill’s election part two?

I’m not sure, is he being more racist, or more sexist… it’s more difficult than it appears on the surface.

You know, if Tay Zonday got in on this, he could sing “Chocolate Rain” and make Bill AND Hillary black.

I’m just sayin’.

Meryl Yourish on December 9, 2007 at 1:02 AM

Wait a minute, did Young say that Clinton “has probably gone down on more black women than Barack” and that makes him de facto black?

Way to go, Young. Link Clinton’s sexual obsession to blackness.

I know if any white guy did that they’d be labeled racist for perpetuating a stereotype in seconds.
