Sigh. I just watched the video and I’m embarrassed that it went up like this. My video editor left out the most important part of the admittedly rather fluffy affair, in which Yago conceded that the 2004 stunt was duplicitous, calling it push-poll style, and regretted that it had caused problems. Anyway, it looks like I took Yago at face value and let him off the hook totally, which I didn’t. I caught the problem and we tried to correct and re-upload, but the corrected vid never went up. My apologies.

The 18-25 year old crowd might vote democrat over republican now. The most important thing to this group is “world peace” and “social justice.” But once they start working, hit their stride and start making some real money, the whole idea of sending more of their hard-earned money to Washington will change their minds and they will gradually grow more conservative. I know. It happened to me.

Hammer did a great job showing she fits in with those in attendance.

Also, the youth vote is always a surprise and the demoncrates discount this group unless they are able to use a deleterious element of their lifestyle to claim they are “here to help” because you can not help yourself.

I don’t get the youth vote thing…I registered to vote right before I turned 18 (had to go downtown to do it back in those bygone days) and have voted in every election since. Same with my kids.

Of course being conservatives might have something to do with that.

For what it’s worth, I’m on Rock the Vote’s mailing list, and the last mail I got was in June for the stupid Live Earth strokefest. And the last mail before that one was in January.

Yeah, MK is the only reason to watch this.

The youth vote is (a) always overestimated and (b) always more Republican than the MSM ever expects. Regardless of what the polls say right now, if the GOP puts up a decent candidate, they’ll get more of the “youth vote” than Hillary.

The reason that organizing youth is important in politics has little to do with their voting, and everything to do with their value as campaign volunteers, plus building the movement for the future.

I not sure that WaPo guy was right about the Messiah’s effort, but I actually think if Hillary is the candidate, young women (at least college women) will turn out. Entire Women’s Studies Departments will show up en masse. Hill is not hard-core commie enough for them, but she’s got the right plumbing.

I think the “first woman” thing will draw some, and the election could be close enough that every 1/2% or 1% extra of any demographic could be crucial.

Wow, well as a member of the uninformed stoned mass (I’m eighteen) it’s great to have that vote of confidence going into the first election that I’ll be able to participate in. Just because the youth vote doesn’t often skew Republican does not mean you should dismiss us so quickly. Really thanks for not thinking of me.

I actually watched the John McCain dialogue (yes I still watch MTV), and I thought it was very good. He was humorous and engaging. More so than any of the other debates a candidate was allowed to express a real opinion, mostly because the questions were styled honestly. The Republicans really do need to experiment with these “new forms of media”. It would serve the Republicans well to engage in this forum, or at least to find one where they can speak as candidly and eloquently in support of conservative issues.
