Want to improve media coverage of illegal immigration? Easily done — just give ‘em a Republican villain and watch them all turn into Lou Dobbs.

Michelle excellent point about the “illegal immigrants” wording suddenly being so prominent.
malkinmania on December 6, 2007 at 8:49 AM
2 freakin’ months they waited to snag an illegal?
If that doesn’t conclusively demonstrate the Globe’s leftist agenda, what will?
No wonder readership is plummeting.

I am sure they are stalking Pelosi’s place right now. NOT
BobK on December 6, 2007 at 9:13 AM
Hell yeah it was a hitjob! They sought out to find illegal immigrants so they could slime him.
davenp35 on December 6, 2007 at 9:32 AM
They cant stalk Pelosi’s place, Code Pink wont get off the lawn.

I can go either way over the question of whether or not this was a “hit job.” The timing is clearly designed to thwart the Romney campaign just before the primaries. Furthermore, Hillary’s people plant questions in the GOP debate and suggest that Obama is going to turn the US into a Muslim nation- and they get away with claiming they were blissfully unaware what was going on within their campaign. No GOP candidate could get away with that lame excuse.
Nevertheless, isn’t it Campaign 101 stuff that you make sure your laundry is clean? If you are a strong supporter of tougher immigration enforcement and there was even a whiff that the landscape company was hiring illegals, the company should be fired. Conversely, if you are a pro-amnesty candidate like McCain you could even get away with turning the whole thing into a “teaching moment” about the prevelance of illegals in our society. In Romney’s case, it is the hypocrisy of the situation that hurts not the status of the people mowing his grass.

Look at Feinstein’s wineries, I bet they could fill a truck load of illegals. And amazing, they are all non union, from the big defender of union’s.

Romney had a heads up on this, and it sounds like he was asleep ar the switch.
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Good point, no Globe reporters there, just in front of a Republicans house, using a service, Feinstein probably hires directly.

Several great points by Michelle, especially the ones about the use of the term “illegal aliens” and the one about the double standard regarding the inquiry into the immigration status of these workers.

Wat to go Michelle ! You hit right on the nail.

This just gives us another look at the brilliance of Romney and Associates. Imagine the job that he/they will do for us in the White House.
Franklin Hill on December 6, 2007 at 11:32 AM
Dont you mean Pelosi’s wineries
Mojack420 on December 6, 2007 at 11:34 AM
Perish the thought of a Romney White House!

It does feel like the Twilight Zone the way that the candidates and issues are treated. When Hillary was messing up this debate, the media attacked Tim Russert for asking the questions.
Sometimes I do think that ignorance is bliss. I guess the American public has to be some sort of ignorant (or the media thinks they are) for them to even attempt to be so blatantly biased. Sadly it works. Keep the heat on em MM.

I always agree with Michelle Malkin but I do have a confession. Those of us who live in big cities near a border with Mexico know where to go to get our cars repaired cheaply, get our cars repainted cheaply if we have a scratch, get a car wash, a brake or lube job etc. I bring my car to a place where everyone knows that at least some of the workers are here illegally. That is why the work done is reasonably inexpensive and done quickly. But I couldn’t care less. It is the only place to bring my car where I know I will get the work done without having the bill padded by several hours as what happens when you bring the car back to your dealer. I pay in cash and I don’t feel guilty. After all, I didn’t bring the people over the border and I didn’t directly employ them. So I would be a fool not to save a few dollars. If a government bureaucrat told me not to do it, I would ignore him. If Michelle called and said I shouldn’t do it, I would definitely consider it!

Yeah, it was a hit job. Same when Rudy brought it up. Mitt Romney has no responsibility to check “papers” of the employees of companies he hires to perform a service for him.

Michelle, if your op ed and this interview on Fox and Friends were a bomb, the circular error probability would be zero. Direct hit.

So let’s think about this. The MSM has been telling us breathlessly for years that racial profiling is bad and it doesn’t work. How dare we conduct racial profiling in order to increas our odds of scrutinizing the right people (ie 18-35 yrs old, male, Middle Eastern, etc) prior to their bording Flight United 93. How dare we conduct racial profiling as an obvious and effective way to save lives!? But, when it comes to embarrassing a Republican candidate for president the Boston Globe sends reporters out to stalk lawn care workers for months. The Boston Globe now considers it ok and effective to pay particular attention to the young, male, dark skinned, Spanish speaking laborers. Ahhhh, I get it. Its ok to racially profile to embarrass a Republican but definitely not ok to racially profile if it means saving lives. Morons.

Don’t we pay taxes for the government to ensure businesses don’t hire illegals?
Does this mean my wife has to ask all the little asian hotties in the nail salon if they have their papers?
The responsibilities have now shifted to private citizens to police imigration regulations? I don’t get it why is he responsible for the hiring actions of a privae business which he doesn’t own?

Harry Reid wants to hire Romneys lawn service to mow Code Pink off Pelosi’s lawn.

As usual MM highlights the hypocrisy of the media and liberal elites-interesting the elites anoint themselves and the media rolls over without question.
When they are exposed, it is a hit job and I am going to sue.
When they expose a planted gardener they call in the calvary to press for deportation of the employer or the person that hired the contractor, but not their planted illegal-they may need them later.
