Volunteer county coordinator for Hillary pushing Obama/madrassa rumor; Update: E-mail added

Something she should be held accountable for? Well, let’s think: If a volunteer for a Republican campaign that had recently resorted to unusually petty attacks and whose staffers were known to despise Obama had been caught circulating it, what would the media have to say about the “tone” and “climate” that campaign had set for its volunteers?

Remember, though, it’s Hillary who’s the victim. She always is.

Update (Bryan): I question the timing.

Update: Hey, you want a poll? Here’s a poll.

This woman is good…she is carpet-bombing the guy, to see what sticks. I have to respect that kind of badness. I guess the ‘fun’ has finally started. She is an evil-genius.

Loved the Wesley shuffle. As president, Hillary will eschew politics for leadership!

Uh huh, I believe it. Now will she give those FBI files back?

Dusty on December 5, 2007 at 2:59 PM

I’m shocked, shocked I say!

Yet another incidence of the Clinton campaign getting caught doing something and the mouthpiece releasing a statement how blissfully unaware everybody was. The press release over this bit of thuggery is almost verbatim with the one they released after getting caught with plants in the GOP’s CNN debate.

To answer the initial question: She should be held accountable but how exactly do you do that?

highhopes on December 5, 2007 at 3:02 PM

Hillary and her crew have some elephant-sized gonads to try to pass this stuff off as a “surprise”.

Then again, perhaps it isn’t so ballsy when you know you will never be held accountable for your actions?

PBoilermaker on December 5, 2007 at 3:04 PM

I think Wesley Clark is probably very high on Hillary’s list of possible VPs. I think all the frontrunners are looking for generals if they can find them, because not a one of the frontrunners on either side (except John McCain) has any military experience of their own.

aero on December 5, 2007 at 3:06 PM

I expect WaPo to jump on this and run another article blaming Robert Spencer.

Gotta love the Blue-on-Blue action, baby!

Frozen Tex on December 5, 2007 at 3:07 PM

It is hard to hold the candidate personally repsonsible for the actions of some “volunteer” worker but it does point to just what kind of people follow her. The question people need to ask themselves is are they so myopic, and dedicated to the coronation of Hillary that nothing else matters? And if you wish to be assoicated with such people what does it say about your character? it is also kind of amusing that the leak came from a DKos diarist.
Nobody can eat their own like a liberal with a vendatta.

The only place that military experience card plays well is with civilians. If military experience was all that grand why ain’t Duncan Hunter leading the field of Republicans?

This is the same woman who pounces upon the failures and divisiveness of the Bush Administration, regardless of whether President Bush had any specific knowledge of it.

Culture of Corruption, anyone? Politics of Personal Destruction, maybe?

is hillary trying to gain wingnut votes? im kidding.

zane on December 5, 2007 at 3:15 PM

The vast majority of campaign workers are volunteers. A county coordinator is different from your average volunteer who is making signs and knocking on doors. That being said, no way Hillary would have wanted this to happen. Just reinforces all the negatives about her. If they could get away with it they would, but it just bites them back 10X more to go negative with such garbage at this point, I think.

the volunteer is no different from that annoying friend of your wife who keeps emailing you stupid chain letters about missing children and gasoline boycotts.

Yeah, Weaselly definitely loosened up and became more animated about 6 months ago. Plasticman Clark is just another reason not to vote Dem. This country is in real big trouble if we ever bring back the Clinton regime.

Connie on December 5, 2007 at 3:23 PM

I think all candidates probably know there are some overzealous supporters out there doing unethical things in their efforts to help their candidates win. The important thing to observe in these cases is how convincingly the candidate denounces such behavior. In Hillary’s case, I would not be surprised at all if she gives a public spanking while privately not caring a bit about the bad behavior. She would be far more annoyed that the person was dumb enough to get caught than that they did it in the first place–kinda like when Bill got caught cheating on her. You could tell she was more upset about him getting caught than doing it in the first place.

If Obama is serious, then he has more on her than she could ever have on him. Does he have the cajones to bring out the real dirt on Hillary?

Yes, I’m sure candidates who are looking at generals for VP are targeting civilians with this strategy. But you’re also right on your other point–for some reason, military experience is not factoring high with voters this time around, which is strange given the fact that we’re at war and all. Military experience is not a requirement for president, but I’ve always considered it a big plus.

But then again, there’s guys like Murtha who prove that simply having military experience doesn’t necessarily make one a good judge of wartime strategy, or even a patriot.

Update: Here’s the smear-mail.

Wow. Glad that came from a Democrat. If it had come from a Republican, we’d never, ever hear the end of it–all the accusations of intolerance, islamophobia, dishonesty, unethical tactics, etc., etc., etc. As it is, it’ll probably blow over by tonight, and the general public will never hear a word about it.

Clark is a shoo-in for a key position in the Clinton administration. Remember, he has Arkansas ties and Bill Clinton was the one that elevated him to the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO job over far more experienced (and competent IMO) generals.

I’m not so sure how much the military experience thing plays with the public anymore. I’d hope that whomever is POTUS surronds themselves with the smartest most able people they can find. Clark is one of those peacock generals- all show and no real credentials beyond running a 27-day high altitude “war” against a nation without a viable air threat.

What is it with Moonbats and spelling?

Buy Danish on December 5, 2007 at 3:51 PM

Not to mention that the smear-mail is so badly written that I would be surprised if many of its recipients even read it. Would you read past the first couple of lines, with its misspellings and gratuitous overuse of asterisks and all-caps for emphasis? It looks like a junk chain-letter to me, complete with its assertion that it checks out at Snopes.com (”check for yourself!!!”) and its repeated pleas to “pass this on to everyone you know!!!” I halfway expected it to conclude with the classic warning that something terrible will happen to me if I don’t pass it on RIGHT NOW!

I “shutter” at how bad this smear-mail is. I’m surprised it got any attention at all, it’s so bad.

Not to make light of the news story but Omaha is awfully close to Obama…….. Wonder how long it will take Hillary’s people to leak stuff that suggests her opponent was the sniper.
