I just finished watching that Charlie Rose interview and if you haven't watched it all the way through, you should.

It's excellent. Fred answers the questions head on. I don't want an excitable game show host for a president. I want an thinking adult.

The ad by FredStates.com is also very well done.

Wowser. There was more energy in that 60 seconds than Fred! has shown all year.

Fred!'s main problem is the same reason I like him....he's a nineteenth century federalist in nanosecond digital world that whines for its political mommy.

He speaks reason, law, and principles, while a huge younger audience demands intoxication, perversion, and hoodoo.

That is good, but then you will find (in this vast internet world) first class thinking and imagination.
A better voice for voice over is the only comment, otherwise Fred should buy this and run it.

I’d change my mind only if it looked like the popular vote might be very close.

Allahpundit on December 5, 2007 at 10:47 PM

If people like you would only vote, the popular vote might BE very close. GRRRRR!!!!!

I live in NY too, but I vote in every single election, like Brat. It does matter. Today's dogcatcher becomes senator 10 years from now.

Even in big elections, one of these days enough of us Repubs in NY will care, with enough Dems too cocky and lazy to vote, to turn NY. And I won't be responsible for letting that opportunity slide, cause I was too lazy too, to go out and let my precious voting rights go down the drain.

This is the kind of wrongheaded thinking of too many deadbeat American voters. Exercising our right to vote is one of the most precious to me.

I vote in every election - local, national, primary, general, runoff because it does matter. When I see that voting #s are dropping, I think that sends a bad message to Americans and the world that freedom and freedom to vote doesn't matter anymore. Especially in an era when more people vote for American Idol than for POTUS. Sickening.

Get out and vote. Vote with your heart and mind for whatever candidate in the primary. But I suggest you vote for the person with the R behind their name in the general, no matter who it is.

It’s because I’m not real thrilled with any of them and, living in New York, my vote doesn’t mean squat. I’d change my mind only if it looked like the popular vote might be very close.

I wish I could argue with you, but NYC is the original home of machine politics (since moved to Chicago, with a Milwaukee branch).

Hey! My hope has never faded.

Whenever Fred puts in a showing (which is much less often than I would like), he looks damn good. Let's not forget that the election isn't tomorrow but in a year's time, something that Fred himself has been saying all along. There's no point in treating Fred's own and only campaign ad as if it's the last, because it certainly won't be. Firstly, it's actually a pretty ad, with emotional impact and that's what a starter ad should have. A smart guy saves the more thoughtful stuff for later and that's what I think Fred's doing.

Instead of criticising Fred for having inspired and talented supporters, one could equally compliment him on that. Judge a man by the company he keeps.

I was sent an email link (see below) ref selecting who one would vote for - I was shocked to learn that I agree with Fred 80%. He isn't my first choice. However, the majority that took the quiz agree with Ron Paul most. Go figure.

How about a contest for the amateur FBI profilers/police sketch artists in the Hot Air audience?

The person who comes closest to rendering the corporeal form of Allah wins, say, an iPhone?

Naw, it's because Allah is really a 'ghost in the shell' of HotAir's web server. This is also the real reason you will never see a picture/vent/guest appearence on Red Eye of him.

What makes Fred a “scallywag”?

Opposition to slavery? That could be it....

living in New York, my vote doesn’t mean squat

Maybe this is just me being naive, but is that necessarily so? If Rudy is down or out by February, wouldn't it be wide open in the primary? And if, by contrast, Rudy was the nominee and so was, say, Edwards (due to a Clinton-Obama joint meltdown), wouldn't New York be up for grabs? I know it must not feel like it in the heart of the city, but the state could be up for grabs. Remember, "To find the most recent Republican presidential victory in New York State you have to go back ... to the Reagan-Mondale race of 1984. [But f]or a victory in the city, you have to go back even farther – to the 1924 election when city voters supported Calvin Coolidge." Manhattan only has only 8% of New York's population, after all, and that 8% is by no means typical.

Anyway, not voting is a self-fulfilling prophecy: Republicans assume it's not going to be close, so Republicans don't vote, so it's not close.

Opposition to slavery? That could be it….

living in New York, my vote doesn’t mean squat

Maybe this is just me being naive, but is that necessarily so? If Rudy is down or out by February, wouldn’t it be wide open in the primary? And if, by contrast, Rudy was the nominee and so was, say, Edwards (due to a Clinton-Obama joint meltdown), wouldn’t New York be up for grabs? I know it must not feel like it in the heart of the city, but the state could be up for grabs. Remember, “To find the most recent Republican presidential victory in New York State you have to go back … to the Reagan-Mondale race of 1984.
Pretty good ad, it could use a bit of polish in some spots commenter's have already suggested.

This is one of the most remarkable interviews I have listened to all campaign.

I haven't been too impressed with any of our candidates as a whole. A couple I like their stance on certain issues. After watching this interview, I could see myself being comfortable giving Fred my vote. If You haven't watched it, I would recommend you to. Thanks bnelson44

Very nice AP. The ad was ok. Sad if that is better than all of Fred's though.

Nah, I’m not voting for any of them.

So, you going to stay home and "protest vote", AP?

Great way to have your voice heard. Get your wallet out too. With a Dem Congress and a Dem in the White House, the sky's the limit on "tax reform".

Forget all of that city nonsense, AP.

A couple of months in the rural Appalachian countryside would be "good for what ails ya".

Fred is doing the same amount of campaigning that everyone else is doing. You'd have a problem keeping up.
