Fred!’s main problem is the same reason I like him….he’s a nineteenth century federalist in nanosecond digital world that whines for its political mommy.

He speaks reason, law, and principles, while a huge younger audience demands intoxication, perversion, and hoodoo.

I’d change my mind only if it looked like the popular vote might be very close.

I live in NY too, but I vote in every single election, like Brat. It does matter. Today’s dogcatcher becomes senator 10 years from now.

Even in big elections, one of these days enough of us Repubs in NY will care, with enough Dems too cocky and lazy to vote, to turn NY. And I won’t be responsible for letting that opportunity slide, cause I was too lazy too, to go out and let my precious voting rights go down the drain.

This is the kind of wrongheaded thinking of too many deadbeat American voters. Exercising our right to vote is one of the most precious to me.

I vote in every election – local, national, primary, general, runoff because it does matter. When I see that voting #s are dropping, I think that sends a bad message to Americans and the world that freedom and freedom to vote doesn’t matter anymore. Especially in an era when more people vote for American Idol than for POTUS. Sickening.

Get out and vote. Vote with your heart and mind for whatever candidate in the primary. But I suggest you vote for the person with the R behind their name in the general, no matter who it is.

It’s because I’m not real thrilled with any of them and, living in New York, my vote doesn’t mean squat. I’d change my mind only if it looked like the popular vote might be very close.

I wish I could argue with you, but NYC is the original home of machine politics (since moved to Chicago, with a Milwaukee branch).

Whenever Fred puts in a showing (which is much less often than I would like), he looks damn good. Let’s not forget that the election isn’t tomorrow but in a year’s time, something that Fred himself has been saying all along. There’s no point in treating Fred’s own and only campaign ad as if it’s the last, because it certainly won’t be. Firstly, it’s actually a pretty ad, with emotional impact and that’s what a starter ad should have. A smart guy saves the more thoughtful stuff for later and that’s what I think Fred’s doing.

Instead of criticising Fred for having inspired and talented supporters, one could equally compliment him on that. Judge a man by the company he keeps.

Maybe this is just me being naive, but is that necessarily so? If Rudy is down or out by February, wouldn’t it be wide open in the primary? And if, by contrast, Rudy was the nominee and so was, say, Edwards (due to a Clinton-Obama joint meltdown), wouldn’t New York be up for grabs? I know it must not feel like it in the heart of the city, but the state could be up for grabs. Remember, “To find the most recent Republican presidential victory in New York State you have to go back … to the Reagan-Mondale race of 1984. [But f]or a victory in the city, you have to go back even farther – to the 1924 election when city voters supported Calvin Coolidge.” Manhattan only has only 8% of New York’s population, after all, and that 8% is by no means typical.

Anyway, not voting is a self-fulfilling prophecy: Republicans assume it’s not going to be close, so Republicans don’t vote, so it’s not close.

This is one of the most remarkable interviews I have listened to all campaign.

I haven’t been too impressed with any of our candidates as a whole. A couple I like their stance on certain issues. After watching this interview, I could see myself being comfortable giving Fred my vote. If You haven’t watched it, I would recommend you to. Thanks bnelson44
