Video: “One Hour”

Superficially his timing is bad in light of the new NIE, but even there there are arguments to be made in support of his thesis. If the New York Times is warning its readers not to don any rose-colored glasses when considering Iran, you know there’s still room for hawkishness.

Or is there? None other than Robert Kagan, brother of surge architect Fred and co-founder with Bill Kristol of lefty Satan substitute PNAC, argues that all our sticks are gone and it’s time to hand Iran a big carrot.

Did I miss the primaries?

It seems as if there is a conspiracy afoot to make us “like” Rudy and not consider all the other candidates. What I really want is the first of the primaries to conclude so the no-chance idiots like Paul are off the radar and we can get down to the serious issues with those left standing. By serious issues, I mean stuff like border security and the GWOT- not which candidate worships the true God or whose lawn is being mowed by illegals.

highhopes on December 5, 2007 at 10:07 AM

Nice ad. Too bad he’s so liberal on other issues, I could actually vote for him.

Agreed.

The only way to stop Hillary is Rudy. Huckabee begins by losing every state that John Kerry won and then Huckabee is a dead duck in Florida and New Mexico and Ohio. He can’t win. He has some nice one liners but the man is basically another ethically challenged Arkansas governor. Romney is too prissy and upper crust to attract many voters. McCain is yesterday’s news. So that leaves Rudy. The only alterntative to Rudy is the third Clinton term. And likely the fourth if she/he wins in 2008.

Larraby on December 5, 2007 at 10:12 AM

Rudy is right on the money – and there is one more endorsement of Rudy’s message.

The NIE report states that Iran put down their nuclear weapons program in 2003. OK – let’s take that as fact.

Queston: What happened in 2003 that would push them toward this decision?

Answer: We kicked Saddam’s butt and rolled over his army.

Result: Nervous bullies in Iran back down.

SIMPLE… Stand up and they always back down… ALWAYS

jake-the-goose on December 5, 2007 at 10:19 AM

How come our intelligence is always wrong according to liberals until they say someone isn’t making nukes???

Vincenzo on December 5, 2007 at 10:25 AM

Actually, with Iran declaring victory over the NIE, it might be the perfect time for this ad.

bnelson44 on December 5, 2007 at 10:25 AM

Is it OK if I say that I still do not trust the NIE conclusions and I still dont trust Iran.

Whatever happened to Reagan’s famous line:

“Trust BUT VERIFY.”

I see a lot of trust in the NIE report, but as for indisputable hard evidence, I dont see much.

Vincenzo on December 5, 2007 at 10:25 AM

In that case, it’s because our intelligence is being made by liberals.

Talks with Iran should solve everything. Just ask the Israelis.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on December 5, 2007 at 10:28 AM

Kagan and the rest of these “fellows” from various “think tanks” are the same folks who got us into a war without pressing for vast increases in our defense spending. We are STILL spending less than Clinton as a % of GDP. That is scandalous.

The NIE is consensus…making policy based on consensus is idiotic. These are the same fools who told us a few years ago that Iran WAS producing a Nuclear weapon.

We are blind fools being led by malicious idiots.

PierreLegrand on December 5, 2007 at 10:29 AM

And Iran has been killing Americans with GLEE for over 25 years and they are STILL killing Marines. When does it end?

If I came across most of our “leaders” on fire by the side of the road I would keep going. They are traitors at worst and idiots at best. And we are not much better since we elected the fools.

PierreLegrand on December 5, 2007 at 10:32 AM

the NIE will probably be leaked a week or two before election next year and say that Iran is no threat

Rudy’s own advisors have a few suspicions as well.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on December 5, 2007 at 10:28 AM

By the way, I didn’t mean ask them about talks with the Iranians; I meant ask them about talks with your enemies. Just to clarify.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on December 5, 2007 at 10:40 AM

Is there nothing Rudy wont glom onto to improve his conservative standing.

I’ll call this an RMG ( Reagan Mantle Grap )

Conceived, scripted, shaped, edited, posted and ultimately irrelevant.

TheSitRep on December 5, 2007 at 10:40 AM

So,according to NIE report,Iran gave up
the bomb hunt in 2003,and the Syrian-Nork
connection!,so,I guess Mossad can finally
go on a holiday,and Israel’s citizen’s
can now get a good night sleep!

Oh,that also means,the Russian tech guy’s
can also head back to the mother land,
because it looks like they were unemployed as
of 2003.(being a tad sarc!)

canopfor on December 5, 2007 at 10:49 AM

When Rudy talks like this, it makes me want to forget some of the other things about him that I don’t particularly agree with.

That was a good ad.

nailinmyeye on December 5, 2007 at 10:54 AM

I was thinkin’ the same thing as Jake and Vince, maybe Iran pulled a KaDaffy without tellin’ us. On the other hand, I still don’t trust either of ‘em. The libs only believe the NIE if it enforces what they already believed. I wish it were true, but ya can’t defend yourself on good wishes. These libs are the same people who said Saddam has bio/chems and then said he didn’t. Ya can’t trust libs OR islamists.

Tony737 on December 5, 2007 at 10:58 AM

A lot of people are glossing over or completely missing the most important aspect of the NIE report.

According to the NIE Iran has a nuclear weapons program, not might have one, but indisputably has one. That program was most likely suspended in 2003, but because of a lack of intel we do not know if that program has been re-started.

When you eliminate all the flowery dross in the report, that is the sole conclusion that the NIE really produces.

Combine that conclusion with a) the recent Israeli bombing raid in Syria, and b) Iran’s proclamation of victory in the nuclear arena and we are left with little doubt that Iran has clandestinely resumed their nuclear weapons program through a outsourced method of plausible deniability.

This my friends is what the NIE is really telling us.

doriangrey on December 5, 2007 at 11:05 AM

NIE using info from an unvetted source?

bnelson44 on December 5, 2007 at 11:09 AM

Maybe Iran’s not making nukes. Maybe they’re letting their “Mini-Me,” Syria, do it for them by funneling funds and technology to them and providing numerous distractions on the international stage to give cover.

We still need an uncompromising hawk for the foreseeable future.

aero on December 5, 2007 at 11:29 AM

Nos-Fer-A-Tu Nic-To Lighting again.

Yeesh Rudy, get with the program.

BKennedy on December 5, 2007 at 11:55 AM

There is never a bad time for an ad like this. It doesn’t have to tie in to the current Iran situation.

Last time I checked, Rudy was the only candidate to actually work in the Reagan administration as Associate Attorney General. Rudy worked with Reagan — he even had breakfast with Reagan the day he was shot by Hinkley.

If any candidate deserves the RMG, it’s Rudy…

I’m Rudy 9/11, and I approved this message.
