Cute, and kind of interesting that he’s not busy at 7:30 on a weeknight. Click the image to watch.

Read some of the comments on the the web site – some gays are up in arms that Ellen has sold out by chatting with the gay-marriage denier Bush.
peski on December 5, 2007 at 1:45 PM
It was apparently one of the only nights with holiday receptions.
amerpundit on December 5, 2007 at 1:51 PM
with=without
amerpundit on December 5, 2007 at 1:51 PM
To be honest, even after that whole debacle over the puppy or whatever a while ago, I’ve come to like Ellen, if for no other reason than that she’s a gay celebrity that doesn’t exude a militant hatred of Bush. This was a hell of an opportunity to drive every nutroot insane by showing that Bush, for all his decisions, is a good father and a good husband and a damn nice guy.
MadisonConservative on December 5, 2007 at 1:51 PM
That was awesome…W is at his best when he’s not watching every word he says.
JustTruth101 on December 5, 2007 at 1:53 PM
I’ve always been an Ellen fan, despite her political leanings. She’s funny and entertaining and doesn’t take every opportunity to cram her agenda down her audience’s throats. She seems like a genuinely nice person. Except for the dog incident, I have never seen an Ellen show or clip that failed to make me laugh out loud.
aero on December 5, 2007 at 1:55 PM
That was pretty cool.
nailinmyeye on December 5, 2007 at 1:57 PM
Gosh I never realized that Jenna has a husky voice, nor that she would sound so much like a little kid. That was sweet! I even liked how Ellen’s audience “awwwwww”‘ed up when W expressed affection for his little girl.
Kensington on December 5, 2007 at 1:58 PM
ellen = class
treyevans on December 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM
thanks for the link :)
i saw a short about this on some news show early this morning before it aired but forgot to watch the show.
and i agree with you JustTruth101.
trailortrash on December 5, 2007 at 2:01 PM
Yeah, Ill actually watch “Ellen” with my fiance without feeling the need to physically harm myself or the TV, unlike with “Oprah”. Ellen seems to have deservedly taken on Rosie’s old mantle of “The Queen of Nice”.
Frozen Tex on December 5, 2007 at 2:01 PM
Ill=I’ll.
Frozen Tex on December 5, 2007 at 2:01 PM
That’s my president.
Spirit of 1776 on December 5, 2007 at 2:01 PM
Yep. It was a polite and civil interaction. Very cute.
amerpundit on December 5, 2007 at 2:04 PM
That was pretty cool of Ellen. I’m guessing (with confidence) she agrees with very little of W’s politics, but she was able to put that aside and treat Jenna and him just like any other daughter and father. Refreshing in this day and age.
thirteen28 on December 5, 2007 at 2:05 PM
She is talented, but only learned her lession about liberal agendizing after losing her sitcom.
Valiant on December 5, 2007 at 2:06 PM
That is cute.
That would be incredible though to be able to talk to the president at any time. I know to her he’s her dad first and president second but still.
Esthier on December 5, 2007 at 2:07 PM
As well they should! Jenna Bush is the architect of the President’s domestic policy! ;-0
Seriously, it’s circumstances like this that clearly points out the hypocrisy of the left. They scream about “tolerance” and yet they are the most intolerant lot on the face of the planet when you don’t completely agree with their agenda. At least with the Taliban, you can sort out the good guys from the bad.

Heartwarming.
jaime on December 5, 2007 at 2:18 PM
Cool
d1carter on December 5, 2007 at 2:19 PM
That really was cute. Ellen handled herself like a champ!
tickleddragon on December 5, 2007 at 2:20 PM
Actually, many of her supporters on that site DID rail against the phone call, and very mean spirited I might add
MNDavenotPC on December 5, 2007 at 2:21 PM
Did anyone check out some of the comments at the link? Ellen apparently lost some fans since she didn’t use the opportunity to tell ask Bush why he’s just like Hitler.
Enrique on December 5, 2007 at 2:27 PM
Love some of the nutroot comments:
“Oh look everyone…it’s Jenna, the daughter of the man who destroyed and continues to destroy our country and daily takes away our rights. Why didn’t you ask Jenna to ask daddy if he’s done wiping his butt with the Constitution yet?”
Sheesh…
I enjoy seeing Ellen now that she’s just being herself and not trying to prove something. Bravo.
rockbend on December 5, 2007 at 2:28 PM
RushBaby, you’re very artistic.
Entelechy on December 5, 2007 at 2:31 PM
Eh. Ellen probably gained some fans she might not have had before too. It’s a wash…
eanax on December 5, 2007 at 2:43 PM
Well that’s what happens with a writers strike.
LakeRuins on December 5, 2007 at 2:45 PM
I’ve always liked Ellen. Scenes such as this one don’t surprise me at all where she is concerned — she’s very funny and has always seemed like a genuinely nice person.
D2Boston on December 5, 2007 at 2:52 PM
He’s a nice guy. Genuine and down to earth. I’m going to miss him as president, and I don’t see any of the possible replacements being as determined to fight terrorism.
No wonder the radicals hate him so much.
Hening on December 5, 2007 at 2:59 PM
I love the open displays of “tolerance” in the Ellen comments section as pointed out before me.
I’m not an Ellen fan, but she certainly has my respect.
pb5000 on December 5, 2007 at 3:13 PM
George was home with his wife. Bill Clinton woulda been out looking for anyone but Hillary.
jediwebdude on December 5, 2007 at 3:38 PM
Incredibly charming.
Kudos to Ellen for keeping it polite and civil.
Jenna *really* looks like her mom.
The Ugly American on December 5, 2007 at 3:49 PM
Yeah! Shouldn’t he be planning another illegal war of aggression right now?
liberrocky on December 5, 2007 at 3:55 PM
I liked when Laura Bush said, “I’m just sitting here with Daddy.” Seems very homey and likable.
Redhead Infidel on December 5, 2007 at 4:07 PM
Gosh.. the left missed a perfectly good time to waterboard Jenna on national TV. Rosie would have had Stephen King on at the same time.
It was nice to watch and a confirmation to me of how nice the Bush’s really are.
GoodBoy on December 5, 2007 at 4:10 PM
Interview was really well done, kudos to Ellen on that.
Defector01 on December 5, 2007 at 4:11 PM
Yeah, I don’t see any candidate that won’t make me very sad to see W leave office.
pedestrian on December 5, 2007 at 4:33 PM
Sweet. It made me call my dad.
baldilocks on December 5, 2007 at 4:36 PM
Ellen said, “If I can’t talk to him, I’ll call your grandfather.” I’m sure he would have been equally likeable. Nice segment all around.
mikeyboss on December 5, 2007 at 5:09 PM
That was real nice. Audience obviously enjoyed it as well
ToddonCapeCod on December 5, 2007 at 5:31 PM
I could be wrong here, but it was my understanding that she never really wanted to politicize her sitcom. She was kind of maneuvered into it by others.
Farmer_Joe on December 5, 2007 at 5:33 PM
Nice, but the sister is hotter.
ScottMcC on December 5, 2007 at 5:40 PM
It’s so weird to see a young woman use a land-line phone these days, isn’t it?
Coronagold on December 5, 2007 at 6:20 PM
Yes, a genuine family. And my opinion of Ellen has changed as well.
Zorro on December 5, 2007 at 6:22 PM
Ellen is a leftie plant who had the phone bugged and recorded the number. (Illegal wiretapping is only okay if it messes with Bushitler).
or
Ellen actually is cool and doesn’t have to hate the guy even if she disagrees with his policies.
SouthernGent on December 5, 2007 at 6:25 PM
Is anyone surprised by this? Bush is a nice guy.
Rightwingsparkle on December 5, 2007 at 6:30 PM
See Rosie, this is how it’s done.
- The Cat
MirCat on December 5, 2007 at 6:40 PM
There’s no way a good father is going to turn down
his daughter, when she call’s,and President Bush is
that dad,class act.
But,I’m afraid,Ellen,probably won’t be going to
Rosie’s Christmas party,(I mean happy holiday party)hehe.
canopfor on December 5, 2007 at 7:49 PM
So this is what we talk about on a slow news day? Maybe if I worked at home and the TV was on, I’d get hooked on this Ellen show. Just lucky, I guess.
manwithblackhat on December 6, 2007 at 11:09 AM
With all the garbage, lies and insults that get heaped on and about the President on a daily basis, that was pretty cool to watch.
Big thumb ups to Ellen and Jenna for making that happen.
