Back when the Anna Nicole Smith funeral procession was “breaking news” I had to stop. Even as background office noise it was too much. I find my life is a little better when I choose which news I pay attention to instead of what FXNC tells me is important.

I’m getting as sick of tabloid news on Fox as Shep is.
They used their outstanding reputation to propel them over the cliff.
I am down to watching just 20 to 30 minutes a day now, the rest is garbage.

I think I get it. Shep has reason to hate the tabs since he has been ‘head’line news in them.

I think he may be afraid of the day that he has to report:
“OVERPAID FOX TELEPROMPTER READER ARRESTED IN AIRPORT MEN’S ROOM FOR TAPPING HIS FOOT” (but officer, I was only listening to my I-Pod!)

I used to like Shep until he started getting a little too ‘cutesy’ and revealed himself as a lefty. Now when he comes on I switch to a music channel and read the Washington Times!

Fox airs but one show — Special Report With Brit Hume — that’s worth watching. All other Fox programming will make you stupid.

That’s gonna leave a mark. It’s a shame that it’s true. I seldom watch Fox any more. Too much skin, too much BritParLindsey coverage, too many missing white women, and too many Head On commercials.

The quality of FNC in the past years has gone down. Less real news and analysis. More speculation over missing spouses, missing children, teachers having sex with students, and other sensationalistic stories.

Amen. With the notable exception of Brit Hume, they have become absolutely unwatchable.

Agreed on the trend with Fox. If you’re reading this blog and you work for Fox, let them know: We’re tired of the tabloid crap, and we’re turning the channel. I’m a bit reluctant to say that when Shep is on, I flip over to Headline News (CNN) and watch Glenn Beck. That guy rocks, and I’m truly gobsmacked that he works for CNN. When Greta comes on, I go to Discovery, History Channel, or in a pinch, Network. Anything but Greta. Wake up, Mr. Murdoch, you’re pooping in your mess kit!

What was Fox News thinking when they renewed Shep Smith’s contract? He sooo self-important, verbose and obnoxious! Why isn’t Michelle and Laura Ingraham given his time slots. They are both far better than Shep and O’Reilly. He really stinks. The last thing Fox News needs are lefties Smith and Greg Kelly. My family flicks the channel when Smith and Kelly are on the screen. Ick!

My advice to FNC: Give Mark Steyn a show!!!! Give him Greta’s time slot. Her ratings can’t possibly be very strong. Steyn would ROCK! I’d watch him every night without fail. He’s smart, funny, insightful, sharp, witty, etc. And I just love his voice. Are you reading this FNC? MARK. STEYN.

I’ve been thinking that it’s time for FNC to shake up its line-up and rotate in some new talent for awhile now.

IMO, FNC is in the "sophomore slump" right now. They had a killer beginning and literally run the table when it comes to ratings in the key time slots but the time has come to grow the product. To my mind that means going back to news and analysis. More Special Report with Brit Hume or Fox News Sunday and less Geraldo at Large (the man should be locked up!) Programming like War Stories would remain but there is plenty of opportunity if they would get rid of some of the other crap. Two suggestions to FNC in closing: Work closely with the new Fox Business Channel to develop cross-over programming the way Disney does with its programming. Quit underestimating the intelligence of your audience.
