Aren't there any female, conservative, Hollywood-types we can get on that show?

When they get a conservative commentator like Laura Ingraham, the View-ers are attacking so fast and furious she can hardly get a reply out.

I wonder if there was a conservative 'fellow woman' celebrity/entertainer on the show, they might engage in a civil discussion.

Like they did with Kate Walsh and Ron Paul. But wait - they both hate Bush, so...

And, although Kate Walsh’s commentary was insipid, she remains fundamentally yummy.

He made Joy and Whoopi look like fools! He twisted them and worked them over like they were his puppets. My favorite part was when Whoopi tried to correct him about the abortion laws. I mean seriously, who has the stones to try to correct an OBGYN/Presidential candidate about abortion laws??? What a dunce! And I also love how he almost backed Joy into admitting that she is not really pro-choice. How does the Kool-Aid taste ladies??????

Why yes, actually, for the last 30 years we’ve been one Supreme Court Justice away from restoring the Constitution.

pedestrian on December 4, 2007 at 4:39 PM

This assumes that both Roberts and Alito would vote to overturn Roe, and perhaps they would. But we don't know that for sure. As judicial conservatives, one or both men might be unwilling to convulse American law like that.

Again, I'm not saying that Roberts and Alito wouldn't vote to overturn Roe. But I don't think we can view either of them as in the tank for overturning it.

In Carhart, Justice Thomas wrote:

I write separately to reiterate my view that the Court’s abortion jurisprudence, including Casey and Roe v. Wade, 410 U. S. 113 (1973), has no basis in the Constitution.

Scalia joined Thomas' concurring opinion. Roberts and Alito did not. That doesn't necessarily prove anything. But it does leave their views on Roe shrouded in mystery.

conservative truthers you bring the same thing to the abortion argument that the 911 truthers bring to that argument… eye rolls and pfffts

Kaptain Amerika on December 4, 2007 at 4:09 PM

You shouldn't make accusations of Trutherism unless you actually know what you're talking about, which you clearly don't. Anybody that's even slightly acquainted with Margaret Sanger's bio knows she was an open and outspoken racist and eugenicist. She never made a secret of it, although obviously it's news to you. BKennedy was kind enough to provide a few quotes up above, but here are a couple more:

"The lower down in the scale of human development we go the less sexual control we find. It is said that the aboriginal Australian, the lowest known species of the human family, just a step higher than the chimpanzee in brain development, has so little sexual control that police authority alone prevents him from obtaining sexual satisfaction on the streets."

--Margaret Sanger, "What Every Girl Should Know", p. 47 (1920)

Or you've got the ever-popular "A Plan For Peace" (1932), which proposed

A stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring.

Her whole life was spent promoting that crap--sterilization, segregation, and abortion for those "dysgenic" groups that she and her fellow elitists deemed "unfit". (She was also a Socialist, which should surprise no one.) All right out in the open. But you have the gall and ignorance to accuse those of us who actually know something about her of Trutherism? How about you educate yourself a little on the subject, so next time you don't look like such a dumbass?

P.S. Whoopi is right about one thing though. Pro-lifers clammer to end abortion but say nothing about what to do with the children. I for one don’t want a woman who would kill their baby raising them. Off the top of my head, I can think of only one church that has something set up for girls who do not have the means to take care of their children. They built their own appartment building with staff for this.

P.P.S. I’m a pro-lifer as well. Just mentioning that so no one thinks that was an attack statement.

P.P.P.S. Whoopi has had over six abortions.

MirCat on December 4, 2007 at 5:31 PM

No, Whoopi is full of garbage as usual since pro-lifers are the ones with the most services to aid and support women dealing with crisis pregnancies during and after pregnancy. They certainly can't support a woman for 18 years, but our local CPC Birthright of Taunton does everything it can from diapers to cribs etc to help pregnant mothers.

There are countless pro-life ministries to pregnant and new mothers that provide everything from spiritual support to material needs.

Remember: Just because Planned Parenthood views women as a walking wallet that they just rush in, load with propaganda and misinformation and then kick out into the cold doesn't mean pro-lifers do.

Oh, and some Sanger quotes:

"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race
(Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)

"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," she said, "if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon

"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people.

Wasn't she wonderful? Planned Parenthood continues her proud legacy today.

Regardless, the principle of preserving a baby’s right to life must not hinge on whether or not third parties are standing by to raise them.

Oh, I'm not compromising on that at all. I'm just saying more people should be working on the alternatives to abortion. If you take away the excuses . .

Whoopi is right about one thing though. Pro-lifers clammer to end abortion but say nothing about what to do with the children.

Surely some of them say something, don't you think?

Here's something: parents should, wherever possible (and don't confuse "possible" with "easy," "convenient" or "painless") raise them.

I for one don’t want a woman who would kill their baby raising them.

I think you might underestimate the transformative and maturing power that parenting has on many people.

P.S. Whoopi is right about one thing though. Pro-lifers clammer to end abortion but say nothing about what to do with the children. I for one don't want a woman who would kill their baby raising them. Off the top of my head, I can think of only one church that has something set up for girls who do not have the means to take care of their children. They built their own appartment building with staff for this.

P.P.S. I'm a pro-lifer as well. Just mentioning that so no one thinks that was an attack statement.

I really like how Ron Paul smoothly wiped the floor with those dingbats and they didn't even notice. Getting a Lib to admit that terminating even a late term pregnancy is murder...ha. "You want the government out of your home, right...." he says in that Grandpa voice (they nod) "..but yet you can't murder a baby in your home" (they stop nodding). hahaha

feminist author Amy Richards tells of her experience with aborting two of three triplets, in a process she calls “selective reduction.”

I remember that article, absolutely sickening. The woman was more worried she'd have to by mayo at Costco than aborting her children for those who never read it.

A bunch like the View cast not asking Ron Paul about Iraq? Seriously what’s up with that? I assumed that was the main reason they booked him. Virulently anti-war republican candidate.

If it were any other show besides The View, I'd doubt it, but could it be possible they just had no idea who he was?
