But even when they were, the accused were given an opportunity to repent and promise to mend their ways. Even in the bad old days of the inquisitions, only about 10% of those accused were interrogated under torture and less than 1% were actually convicted. The piece was actually merely a photograph of a crucifix resting in urine, based on the artist’s description if I remember correctly. Not a bell jar full of real urine sitting on a pedestal.

I had a problem with my tax money going toward prayer initutives, and that received no private donations at all – just tax money. Take someone else’s money to do it and don’t use tax-payer funds to see if God is listening.

I remember it well and what about the Christian wingnuts who attacked David Wojnarowicz? He fought it in court and was issued an injuction against Donald Wildmon and the American Family Association.
