I have gotten those apologies before, usually when the other party needs something from me or is being prodded at gunpoint. I always accept them because

1. I don’t need their apology anyway
2. I have just been informed they don’t mean it
3. It is useful information to understand the person in question

While I can get all the fake apologies I need to suit my inner masochist from professional apologists there is still a place for amateurs

Since that apology was for me (I thought what she said was offensive, though I was less offended then disappointed), I accept it. Seems clear to me that it was a joke based on the single lowest common denominator for liberals.

It would have been better granted if she had just apologized the next day on Joe’s show, but I don’t remember if she was on. Either way though, without a collective consciousness of the offense, she couldn’t have apologized earlier without repeating the insult to explain why she was apologizing.

I’m glad she apologized and hopefully we won’t see anything like that from her again.
