Church attendance seems to be of great benefit to Reps, but not for Dems. That's because of guilt--the Bible is very clear on abortion, homosexuality, & the sanctity of marriage.

Socialism is an interesting concept. Basically you generally have a narcissist at the head (be it Castro or Stalin or Mao or Chavez or whoever) and you gain support initially by being the champion of the poor. You basically promise them that you will steal from the rich and give to the poor. Since there are ALWAYS more poor than rich, this gives you an automatic majority. Now the key thing is to KEEP them poor without them getting upset about it ... that's the part that nobody has been able to master for longer than a generation (save possibly Castro).

I think it's more of a chicken/egg scenario. Was socialism spawned from insanity? Or does socialism just attract all the crazies?

This one you won't see on NBC.

Liberalism is injurious to your health? Who knew? And when?

They're probably not even considering that liberalism is the gateway drug to communism, leading to violent death.

After so many years of bitter partisanship, it’s nice to see them finally agree with the boss on something.

Before even clicking on the link, I thought "they're unhinged".

There's really no better way to describe them. Nov. 2008 will do them in completely. The couches are cracked now; by then they'll break down.

I see that church attendance helps Democrats not at all, while going every week gives Repubs a 13 point bump over not going at all.

Good observation. Possible answer: Dems worship at the Church of BDS.

I have suspected this for a long time. If you listen long enough to the Democratic party, it starts to sound like a collection of people with borderline personality disorder being lead by narcissists. Nothing else really explains the idolizing of the Clintons in the face of damning evidence of corruption and moral rot and at the same time the absolutely irrational "Bush Derangement Syndrome". It makes sense when you understand that they have spilt the Clintons as "all good" and Bush as "all bad".

Then it reminds me of the line out of the Bat Fink cartoon (with a twist): "Your logic (bullets) can not harm me! My mind is (wings are) like a shield of steel!

Listening to these people over the years has had me convinced that the Democrats would not only seem to be more appealing to people with mental illness (particularly in areas of regulation of one's response to emotions as the Democrats seem to strive the for emotional rather than the logical response) but they seem to be ACTIVELY doing things that would RECRUIT that social demographic.

Are we ignoring the simultaneous trend of poorer mental health vs. church attendance?

I wonder if the real explanation isn’t something else, though — something that implicates the big A as well. Hmm.

Ha!!! Something to think about, eh, AP?? :)

It is because Republicans don’t read books.

Or go to Nuanced movies, or listen to Air America or Keith what-his-name on MSNBC, or go to school for a zillion years for a completely pointless degree (like philosophy). Or invite Ahmadinejad to speak as a "free speech exercise."
