Not…necessarily. Even in the golden age. Had an uncle that worked for NASA at Capre Kennedy. He pulled ‘escort’ for journos during several of the launch events. He mentioned that Bergman, even after covering Space and NASA for years, really had no actual understanding of what he was covering – most of the time he regurgitated exactly what the NASA PR folks told him – and most of his ‘exchanges’ with the anchors was carefully scripted. Got off that script, and Bergman was adrift.

A knowledge of science would simply get in the way of Liberal scientific fundamentalism. The beginning of human life, the effects of second-hand smoke, global warming are opinions that do not need to get muddled up with data. Besides, none of you except brainiacs like Al Gore are smart enough to understand it anyway.

Heavy domestic travel on chartered jets is a must to chase the effects of carbon footprints.
