I remember the episode now. She was playing for the American Association of Retired People for a program that they have that supports grandparents who end up taking care of their own grandchildren since her grandfather raised her after her mother bailed and dad was killed. I think she walked away with $50,000 or %100,000 for them.

Hubby and I are fans of the Pickler. She’s a sweetie.

I don’t think she’s the smartest monkey in the cage, (obviously), but I do hope she stays out of trouble and becomes a successful country singer.

If she is able to pull away from the mess of her Mama and Daddy’s pathetic lives and make a good career for herself, she’s got my support. You Go Girl!

Since I don’t watch American Idiot, I only knew of Kelly Pickler by comments on other blogs. I had heard that she wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but frankly the episode linked above had me wondering if anyone could possibly be that stupid and still walk upright. Apparently she can sing well and she’s very pretty. It’s a good thing, or she’d be rounding up grocery carts in the parking lot, assuming she could figure out which end to push.

I imagine she’ll be touring with George Clooney soon and telling us how to vote. Whenever someone mentions a celebrity endorsement of a political candidate, or I see an article about what this or that celebrity says about global warming, Iraq, etc., I always think, “Do they realize that the person they are quoting had two choices in life: Become an actress/singer/talk show host or hope she makes it into the management program at the Tastee Freeze?

She’s dumb, but in the entertainment industry, she is far from uniquely dumb.

It takes some work to learn facts of spelling, geography, etc. She, for whatever reason, didn’t care to work for it, and wasn’t required. That is public education and her family.

She’s smart enough to know she couldn’t even try to answer, and smart enough to know that ‘ditzy’ was the best look for her on national tv. So, yes, it’s an act, and yes, she’s ‘dumb,’ or not knowledgable. Both are right.

And both smart and dumb are sexy. Dumb is sexy for the short-term. Smart is sexy for life-long.
