Video: Hillary plant insists he’s not a Hillary plant

No campaign contributions, no volunteer work, just a little name-lending and endorsement. Let someone on one of Giuliani’s steering committees get waved through a Democratic debate to pose a question and see how that defense flies with the nutroots. John Roberts grudgingly admits there’s a “lesson” in this for the network but the point of this segment is obviously to do damage control — while, just coincidentally, giving Kerr another three minutes to make his case against “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Add up his airtime here to the minute and a half follow-up he was given last night. Did any Republican candidate get that amount of time to address a single issue?

Hate to say, I’m inclined to believe him. I think it may have been in the back of his mind when they asked him to come, but it’s not someone I can see the average person in his position turning down.

As for CNN, I just think they were too apathetic to check this beforehand. They picked the video because it was an easy way to put the GOP candidates on a very bad spot.

The whole ‘let the public ask the questions’ format is bogus. The questions and questioners are hand picked by…whom? Oh, yeah. Partisan liberal journalists working behind the scenes for CNN, MSNBC, et al. This game is rigged to favor Shrillery and the weakest viable Republican.

DrW on November 29, 2007 at 12:32 PM

Yeah, he hasn’t made any out-and-out donations to any candidate, but he has officially ENDORSED Hillary Clinton and makes his contributions (in kind and otherwise) through VoteVets where he is a Co-Chair (MORE affiliations, never mentioned).

Hillary, will you (as President) reverse your husband’s policy of “Don’t ask, don’t tell”? Was he wrong? Why didn’t you stand up for GLBT concerns back when Bill was infringing on their “rights”?

subbottomfeeder on November 29, 2007 at 12:39 PM

More on Kerr from Human Events:

Campenni told HUMAN EVENTS that Kerr is not even a retired Army General.

“He retired as a California Army National Guard colonel,” said Campenni. “It is common at Guard retirement ceremonies to give an honorary promotion to colonels to the STATE rank of Brigadier General…[but] it has no meaning other than a fancy certificate for the wall and use of the title at local Guard functions.”

Campenni said the rank of general is not federally recognized and the title can not be used or the rank worn outside the state.

No big deal, but interesting context if true.

Romney can kiss the south goodbye for his response over the rebel flag. First off it is none of the things that the guy on the video claims that it stands for. He could have started by first off disputing the claims by that guy. Fred didn’t handle it much better. If you think the confederate flag is a symbol of oppression and racism you need to look at yourself and come to grips with the deep seated stereotype and prejudice you harbor against southerners.

It occurs to me that if any of these guys is actually elected, this is exactly what they should expect from our unbiased press, so in a way this is an opportunity for us to see how they handle it.

On the other hand, it continues to sadden me that organizations like CNN are so obviously extensions of the Democratic party, and yet are still afforded the rights and protections of the press. Not even loss of viewership/profits seems to be able to dissuade them from the notion that should be activists against the evil VRWC rather than honest dealers of the truth.

Check this out!

From Media Matters

Dated Tuesday November 27 -

In a November 21 post to The New York Times’ political blog, The Caucus, staff writer Ariel Alexovich purported to give a “sneak peek” at how questions for the November 28 CNN/YouTube Republican presidential candidates debate will be selected. Alexovich wrote that “CNN wants to ensure that … Wednesday’s Republican event is ‘a debate of their party,’ ” and quoted debate executive producer and CNN Washington bureau chief David Bohrman saying, “There are quite a few things you might describe as Democratic ‘gotchas,’ and we are weeding those out.” Alexovich further wrote that, according to Bohrman, questions that “involve asking the candidates to defend their opposition to gay marriage and abortion,” which Bohrman called “lobbying grenades,” “would be disqualified by the CNN selection team.”

I’d love to see a post-debate comment from Bohrman.

Note that this post is part of a complaint about how unfairly the Dems were treated in their debate!

Hilarity ensues.

Hillary’s media police at Media Matters are whining about CNN being so unfair to Dems here too.

CNN’s Jeanne Moos characterized some of the questions submitted by YouTube users for today’s CNN/YouTube Republican debate as “stunningly superficial,” “shockingly sophomoric,” “completely incomprehensible,” and “totally irrelevant.” But Moos didn’t mention the question that concluded CNN’s broadcast of the November 15 Democratic debate in Las Vegas, which was whether Sen. Hillary Clinton preferred “diamonds or pearls.”/blockquote>

You can’t be serious.

It’s not Jessie Jackson who made the Confederate flag a symbol of racism and hatred.

See here:

Although the flag is seen by some Southerners simply as a symbol of Southern pride, it is often used by racists to represent white domination of African-Americans. …The flag is also used by racists as an alternative to the American flag, which they consider to be an emblem of what they describe as the Jewish-controlled government.

Or here: According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more than 500 extremist groups use the Southern Cross as one of their symbols.

I’m no fan of Jacson, but blaming him for that flag being seens as a symbol of hate is silly.

The really interesting thing to me is the fact that the plants asked legitimate questions. Had they and CNN been honest about their agenda, there would have been absolutely nothing wrong here.

That this was all set up by a media organization to benefit Democrats makes all the difference. The FCC should be looking into this issue. The FEC should be looking into this situation. The GOP for their part should refuse to grant CNN credentials to any further campaign events including the GOP convention. Anderson Cooper would be far less smug and far less willing to lie if he has to cover major stories from the outside for a change.

I don’t know that anyone has connected those dots yet (did you post anything at Politico?) but I enjoyed this from your site -

In case you didn’t click into the Playbook TV link, Kotecki is covering the debate for Politico, and according to WDEL’s Rick Jensen (who’s show I was just on), Politico is about to bust wide open political connections of YouTube questions from last night.

I wonder what their scoop is?

This has all become high comedy of deception, hasn’t it?

I have been suspicious of Politico ever since Jonathan Martin broke the Romney push-polling story. I’ve always found it curious that one of the people who received one of these calls contacted him. It just seemed a little too coincidental to me that a call recepient would be savvy enough to contact Martin, who, by the way, had this to say today (I got this on your link to Politico:

NOT SO CIVIL, though, at last night’s CNN/YouTube Republican debate in St. Petersburg, Fla., where Politico’s Jonathan Martin says the hopefuls switched from Hillary-bashing and “finally trained their fire on one another” during ” a series of clashes over cultural issues: immigration, guns, God and gays.”

Right out of Howard Dean’s mouth? Partisan much?

highhopes on November 29, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Although as Rush pointed out, most of these issues that they were trying to associate with Republicans are really Democrat issues. They were trying to stick us with these issues and paint us as homophobic, racists, and look^^how Jonathan Martin of Politico has seized on the “Guns, God & Gays” mantra.

For example, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was a Clinton initiative, and it was Democrats who were hoisting Confederate flags at statehouses (and it is not a part of any of the Republican’s campaign platorms).

He also pointed out that there was not a single question on the War in Iraq or the economy – issues that we ARE running on.

Buy Danish on November 29, 2007 at 3:57 PM

CNN can spin this anyway they want, but the debate questions were for “undecided” voters, not political hacks and supporters of Clinton, Obama, Edwards, etc. etc.

They can run from this as fast as they want, but intentional or not, this is going to stick to them for a long time. If any common person can find who these people are and what they were really about, CNN should have also.

How easy was it to find about General Kerr of the Clinton regime or the Edwards Girl or Mr. Log Cabin Republican, who seems to curiously support a far left candidate in Barrack Obama.

I have a feeling they wouldn’t done this if the tables were turned and this was done to Hillary…you know, CNN…the candidate your network is named after.

Thanks, I will Tex! That’s what we call 1st Amendment freedom down here…….in Texas.

Buh-bye Keith, don’t let your browser hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

Back at ya, POS cunning stunt!

Keith_Z could be a Moby plant from the Dems hoping to get us all riled up with anti-gay comments which they will then talk about at HuffPo, KOS and the like, and maybe even get Media Matters to do an expose’ on :)

Buy Danish on November 29, 2007 at 12:58 PM

I’m finding that fairly likely. His comments were just way too over the top to be taken seriously.

Oh, what’d I say, Esthier? Faggot? Wonder how many responses there’d be if I said, “Cracker”? ( ……ewwwwww ……What a HATER!……ewwwwwww) ..LOL!

Keith_Z on November 29, 2007 at 12:36 PM

I have this feeling that you won’t be posting here for much longer.

I think you smell your feet, Shoes.

love how this guy’s story is in fact a testimony to the success of “don’t ask don’t tell.”

Conversely, I don’t recall anyone asking Keith where he enjoyed putting his shriveled old weenie in his spare time, and yet he felt compelled to tell us.

Better get back to your Bible, “Saint” Kansas. You’ve got a lot of reading to do!

Note to self: Where the heck are all the real conservatives anymore????

It damned near cost a governor his job in Georgia. And the folks still ain’t all that happy.

LakeRuins on November 29, 2007 at 2:57 PM

Yeah, well I live in Georgia and I’ll be voting for him.

Don’t you think that there are other issues that are more important at this point in our history than this that you might want to focus on? Immigration? Islamofascism? HillaryCare? It’s like when you have kids, you have to pick your battles, and you’re in a snit over a SYMBOL.

Yes, it is unfair to paint everyone who fought for the South in the Civil War as evil, but life is not always fair and there is no way for conservatives to win on this issue.

Heck, you could be a Dem who is just itching for us to make this an issue in the Presidential campaign!

ARRRG. Let’s do that again -

The Republican out to agree to a debate where the question are all asked by democrats, if they get to return the favor.

tmitsss on November 29, 2007 at 4:29 PM

The GOP should refuse to grant CNN press credentials to any further debates, any press conferences, the GOP National Convention, and anything else where “reporters” need to be vetted and they have a say in who gets in the door.

highhopes on November 29, 2007 at 4:32 PM

This is the organization that carried Saddam’s water for years.

Why would this kind of manipulation be any surprise.

Wolf’s little charade last time about how these are just regular voters, just normal, everyday, normal as all hell voters…undecided voters…

benrand on November 29, 2007 at 4:38 PM

highhopes on November 29, 2007 at 4:32 PM

I think that is a bit counter-productive, but I do think they should make a big stink and threaten not to debate with them again because of their incompetence and lack of disclosure.

Keep the pressure on CNN, make them look as foolish as possible for as long as possible.

You know I just caught the nuance in his assertion that he’s not a plant, and he’s right, he’s not a plant, he’s a [censored] [censored] fruit…

doriangrey on November 29, 2007 at 4:52 PM

Hillary plant insists he’s not a Hillary plant

From the movie “Clue”:

Mr. Green: No, I’m a plant.
Miss Scarlet: A plant? I thought men like you were usually called a fruit.
Mr. Green: Very funny.

1st Amendment cuts both ways; you can spout off, and we can call you on it. Anyways, Hot Air isn’t the government, they can remove anything they want from their site.

Just askin’.

I remember a debate on this site awhile back about whether the republicans should be involved in this debate. I bet most of those outraged by the dupicity of cnn and the democrat/fascist party dirty tricks were all for it. As for me, what happened is just what I thought and said would happen so,

I told you so.
