I sincerely hope you’re wrong, sweeper. I’ll agree with you that there are more of them out there than I’d like.

But I also believe that the msm is buying it’s own bs and has no clue what the People actually think or support. I could be wrong, but the exceedingly low popularity numbers of the current congress make me hopeful.

I still have faith in the American People.

Ain’t that the truth. How did it get to the point where the Republicans can offer no strong, principled candidates and the Democrats have all agreed to rush headlong into 1984?

So this is it. The political system has become so corrupted that it makes Republicans less Republican and Democrats more Democratish (not democratic).

I argued this point on Crooks & Liars during the SCHIP furor.
Believe it or not, most commentors cited the Preamble of the Constitution, specifically

We the People of the United States, in Order to… promote the general Welfare…do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

as being precedent. I was flabbergasted.
