Sorry I’m late with this. We were in consultations, or to be more precise, I was editing Jihad Watch.
I can’t watch the game tonight (thanks, %^7#$&^#$&**^#^ NFL!) but if you can and want to comment, have at it.

Right, he grabbed and let go. 5 yards
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:24 PM
Damn, this ain’t supposed to happen. The kid had a good drive though
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:26 PM
He turned the head 15
And, like I said, they cant even stop Rogers….
Starting to wonder why I picked the Boys!
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:26 PM
Wow! Aaron Rodgers CAN play
Gatordoug on November 29, 2007 at 10:27 PM
Just wait big dog
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:27 PM
We got ourselves a ballgame again. Thank you, Wade!
27-24 Boys.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 10:28 PM
Hey I hope so. I’ve got a lot riffing on a Boys win.
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:28 PM
I wonder what FOX is thinking tonight about its $700 million contract to broadcast the NFC games?
The NFL has screwed itself for the future.
Valiant on November 29, 2007 at 10:33 PM
Al Harris is having a very bad game
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:34 PM
That was a huge third down while ago
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:36 PM
conservnut was that Harris on the 15 yd face mask last play?
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:37 PM
It all started with that first screwball screw.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 10:38 PM
Not a catch
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:38 PM
Atari on the 15-yarder.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 10:38 PM
I think so
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:38 PM
I stand corrected
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:39 PM
Why does anyone still use cable? Space TV is the wave of the future! Cable made me watch the Texans/Raiders game when the last HUGE game between the Pats and Colts was on. That was the final straw.
Adam on November 29, 2007 at 10:41 PM
Marion the Barbarian
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:43 PM
So that explains why “thermonuclear war” was a phrase that came to mind.
Seriously, what w/ all the jihadi posts we get on this site, this skimmer’s heart did a jump when I saw that phrase. Could we get maybe a little less use of that word in fun contexts?
Just sayin’. And just a suggestion.
inviolet on November 29, 2007 at 10:43 PM
Man I wish Lawrence Maroney had a little bit of that Barbarian in him. That Dude runs angry!
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:45 PM

TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 10:47 PM

BowHuntingTexas on November 29, 2007 at 10:49 PM
There we go. Nice sack.
BowHuntingTexas on November 29, 2007 at 10:52 PM
Oh yes. Kinda like the love I was feeling from my die-hard Cowboy lovin’ cousin about five minutes before The Catch.
;->
soundingboard on November 29, 2007 at 10:53 PM
There are a couple things I really like that he does. He throws a great stiff-arm, and he’ll smack players on the helmet approvingly after they have nailed him with a big hit. He just loves to play hard and it shows.
Spirit of 1776 on November 29, 2007 at 10:54 PM
Ouch! YOu really know how to hurt a guy sounding.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 10:58 PM
TD!!!!
Gatordoug on November 29, 2007 at 11:01 PM
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:01 PM
This has got be the worst rated, most inept crew in the entire NFL and yet they keep getting assigned to the biggest games. They must have picture of the Commish with farm animals…
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:02 PM
See Hot air, we are up to 135 comments here.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:03 PM
Wonder whether the zebras are getting a game ball.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:04 PM
Agreed, Gumble is like watching the game with your grandma, and having to explain the game.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:05 PM
These are the same guys that came up with 140 yards against the Pats in the Colts game. They were so bad, the Commish called in the head of Ref to explain what happened in that game. Now here they are calling the second biggest regular season game of the year.
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:06 PM
Gumble is a beating yes.
Gatordoug on November 29, 2007 at 11:07 PM
Sour grapes baby, that was interferance before the tangle up.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:07 PM
Yep!
Gatordoug on November 29, 2007 at 11:08 PM
THE COWBOYS WIN!!!
Oh.. I have the HD “back to the future” edition TV.
GoodBoy on November 29, 2007 at 11:09 PM
Oh man, you just ruined the game for me. ;-)
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:11 PM
OK Romo,
Time for a long drive man.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:12 PM
That is a cool commercial with the bear.

Valiant on November 29, 2007 at 11:17 PM
Only those wearing blue-and-white and one of the guys wearing black-and-white thought so.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:20 PM
First down!!!!!!!!!!!!!
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:20 PM
If Atari Bigby’s wearing a Packer helmet come Saturday, I’m taking a drive.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:21 PM
What is Farve leaving the field now for? He needs to go shake Romo’s hand after the game. Romo is one of his biggest fans.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:24 PM
Hey I’ve got a vested interest in the Cowboys winning tonight and I call BS on that call. Even if they truly thought it was PI, they’d throw the flag immediately, not 5 minutes later after they check the scoreboard. And, in the series before that Witten pushed off like a mother and no call… I’d say these guys are inept except they seem to be inept only against one team per game…. If they were truly incompetent you’d expect bad calls against both teams.
Please enough with the handshake stuff. This is football not golf or cricket.
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:26 PM
Put a fork in the Packers.
Valiant on November 29, 2007 at 11:27 PM
whoo… I dodged a bullet tonight! Thanks Zebras!
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:27 PM
Well, game over.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:28 PM
Dang! I felt that hit!!!!!!!!!1
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:29 PM
This is like having my cake and eating it too. The Boys win and TO is miserable…
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:29 PM
Rodgers suprised me, I think GB has a future QB after the big guy there.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:30 PM
That’s the ball game.
Steve you owe me a beer next time you are in Houston.
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:32 PM

Bryant Gumble has got to be the worst.
Sammy316 on November 29, 2007 at 11:34 PM
Yeah, I look forward to the postgame interview with Floyd Owens!
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:35 PM
Good game,
Good night all, and thanks
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:39 PM
Which will be the first time. I’ll have to make it.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:39 PM
Even without the interference call and resulting TD, Dallas would have still won by 3.
Woohoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sue on November 29, 2007 at 11:39 PM
Always welcome buddy
conservnut on November 29, 2007 at 11:41 PM
As much as I hate them, the ‘Boys are goin to the bowl.
As a die-hard Jint fan, this time, and I repeat, this time only, I will root for the ‘Boys in ANY game, especially if it means that they can de-throne the Pats, who I personally hate more than Satan.
Death! to Brady and Belichick.
awake on November 29, 2007 at 11:47 PM
There was a call on Dallas’ opening drive that everybody except the zebras and those in white-and-blue believed was a strip from Owens by Harris. There’s the other 3.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:47 PM
You will be assimilated!
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:48 PM

Bryan, you’re an editor at Robert’s treasure trove?
awake on November 29, 2007 at 11:49 PM
I am starting to believe that, unfortunately. Damn they are a solid team. But under no circumstances do I have to like ‘em.
awake on November 29, 2007 at 11:50 PM
I’m just glad I didn’t have anything going with Bryan.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:50 PM
What do you expect? Its AMERICA’S TEAM! Woo-Hoo!
What other team in the NFL can bring this many comments? What POLITICIAN can bring this many comments? HILLARY? hahahahaha!
SouthernPride on November 29, 2007 at 11:50 PM
Ask yourself how this inexperienced crew get assigned the 2 biggest games of the season and in both games they screw 1 team only.
TheBigOldDog on November 29, 2007 at 11:51 PM
There were a couple of calls that should’ve happened in Dallas’ favor (that punt was awfully close to roughing the kicker-guess they thought the guy was blocked in, and the 15-yard face mask should’ve been a 5 but for a sell job by Rodgers).
These guys had better not have any playoff games this year.
steveegg on November 29, 2007 at 11:56 PM
And some upstarts from down south.

I’ve always respected Brett Favre. But he walked off the field with 2 min. left. He couldn’t stay and shake T-Ro’s hand after the game? Sorry….that was bad. Just bad in my opinion.
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:02 AM
No; the team that got the W tonight. Dunno how Paul-Nut keeps on winning his district.
steveegg on November 30, 2007 at 12:02 AM
Trust me…
Ron Paul is a JOKE in the State of Texas….aside from his district that continues to elect him. I really can’t speak for them. I don’t think I want to. Like I said, everyone else in the State looks at him as Bozo the Clown.
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:05 AM
They already stopped Brady for 2.5 quarters. They were the first to lead the cheatin’ Pats in the second half. They proved the Pats were human. Brady excepted, of course, since he’s obviously a supermodel-lovin’ pigskin-tossin’ cyborg from the future.
The under-performing Colts and the woeful Eagles have finished the job of proving the cheatin’ Pats can be beaten. They won’t go 16-0. Some ridiculous team will beat them.
The Cowboys will go 14-2. They’ll lose once more. But the loss to the Pats will be the only one that stings.
And they’ll have their revenge.
Brady is a machine. But Romo plays with passion, baby. Passion beats precision.
It’s like 1991 all over again, and I’m watching the Aikman-Emmit-Irvin trilogy be born. Only its Romo-TO-Barber, with a helpful helping of Jason Witten and Nick Folk and Jason Garrett.
Staubach to Aikman to Romo. The torch has been passed. The Pats are done, if not this season then the next. The Cowboys are back. Like they always are, sooner or later.
Next year is 1992. Except hopefully a Clinton will not be winning the White House.
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:06 AM
Excellent point Professor! Even with the Pats great season, its a “marked” season for them. I don’t think anyone trusts them or actually respects them. I sure don’t.
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:08 AM
By the way, Bryan … dude. I am so, so sorry you missed that game.
That was a FUN game to watch. A good game all around. I was rooting for Fav-re even though I hoped he’d lose, then I was cheering Rodgers as he pulled a Romo/Brady sort of performance.
There’s this new thing called “sports bars.” Check it out. I’ll bet most of them have wi-fi access these days. You could have watched it, blogged it, and drank beer all at the same time.
Which ought to be enough to disprove AP’s silly atheism theory. God is good, and He cheers for the ‘Boys.
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:09 AM
Listen to T-Ro talk in the post game interview. He’s so CUTE!!! Favre should have had the decency to shake his hand after the game. Like I said, Favre lost alot of my respect tonight by leaving the field with 2 min. left.
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:10 AM
I refuse to call the Team Obliterater “cute” … but it’s amazing how differently I feel about that putz now that he’s playing for my team.
Now if somebody could teach him to hang onto the ball, I might become an actual fan.
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:13 AM
Oh yes….
The torch was passed. Roger Staubach to Troy Aikman and now to Tony Romo! Its to be expected. In Dallas we just KNOW it will happen every 10 yrs. or so. Its our Greatness. Its our Legacy.
Ok, time for the commenters from the bars to start chiming in! ha!
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:13 AM
I can say that because I’m a 45 yr. old Mom of a 17 yr. old about to enter the Navy this summer. Yep…. T-Ro is CUTE!!
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:15 AM
That’s funny; one of the other threads I was at is at TheWisconsinSportsBar (the obligatory bar-language warning, especially in the comments; we do treat it like a bar).
steveegg on November 30, 2007 at 12:16 AM
And YES….T-Ro IS the Team Obliterater!!!
SouthernPride on November 30, 2007 at 12:16 AM
Pardon me, but did you watch the game by any chance? The Pats scores 14 in the first, 7 in the second, 10 in the third and 17 in the fourth for a total of 48 points. Nice try though
TheBigOldDog on November 30, 2007 at 12:17 AM
People all over the Dallas Metroplex checked into hotel/motels just to watch the game! Not to sleep, simply watch the game and go home. Sports bars were jammed. I watched it on my ‘puter. No pre or post traffic, and no $700 pp ticket!
How ’bout them Cowboys!
24K lady on November 30, 2007 at 12:20 AM
I most certainly did. The question is – did you? Here’s a recap:
I repeat: the Cowboys were the first to prove the cheatin’ Pats can be beaten.
Given the chance, they’ll prove it more emphatically. ;)
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:26 AM
Oh and PS, what was it that happened to the Cowboys when they played the Bills? You know that team the Pats beat by scored of 38-7 and 56-10? Uh huh…
I especially love the passion he showed when he fumbled that snap to get get booted from the playoffs last year. If they meet in the big game you can expect to see a lot more of that kind o passion. And the kind TO showed when he spat in D Hall’s face last year. Or tonight when he handed Al Harris and INT in the end zone. Yup that’s the kind of passion you can really take to the bank!
TheBigOldDog on November 30, 2007 at 12:28 AM
Great story. I remember checking into a Holiday Inn in the late 80s just to catch a Tyson fight. Don’t laugh – back then, he wasn’t considered the complete thuggish punk he is today. A Tyson fight used to be a big deal.
The ‘Boys are for real. This game wasn’t anywhere near as close as the 10-point difference made it seem. They’re the dominant NFC team … and obviously the second best team in the NFL.
If we can find one supermodel to dump Tom Brady at just the right moment, the Superbowl is ours.
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:30 AM
Um … they won?
Is this a trick question?
Ugly wins are wins. Did you watch the Pats play the Eagles? That was still a win, no matter how embarrassing.
And for the record – it was that very game that made me realize the Cowboys were for real. Every other team – including the Pats – would have given up.
My ‘boys found a way to win, against all odds. That’s how championships happen.
When fans from one team have to cling to something that happened last season to put down their rivals … I suddenly feel a lot better about my team’s odds. Cheers, mate.
Hey – which team lost a first-round draft pick after getting caught cheating THIS season?
Oh. Right.
Romo is a champion precisely because he bounced back from his own miffed play last year. That single play could have ended his career. It’s happened before.
Instead, he’s grinning his way to the Cowboy’s best season in history.
You better hope Brady doesn’t trip over a Parisian underwear model.
My prediction: the Cowboys won’t play the Pats again – because the Pats get beating in the AFC championship. Hell, since I’m out on this shaky limb, I’ll even go crazier: it won’t be the Colts that beat them. It’ll be the Steelers.
Or …. wait for it …. no, wait for it ….
The Cleveland Browns. Yeah. I said it.*
* Footnotes and disclaimers: if you read carefully above, I did in fact say the cheatin’ Pats are still the best team in the league. All of the above is part educated conjecture, part post-victory nocturnal emission.
Professor Blather on November 30, 2007 at 12:40 AM
“This game wasn’t anywhere near as close as the 10-point difference made it seem.”
It was 27-24 going into the 4th. I’d call that pretty damned close. Especially considering that Favre, Woodson, and KGB were all out of the game. I want a rematch…preferably with a different officiating crew.
packsoldier on November 30, 2007 at 12:41 AM
As a Cowboys fan I was ready for the Packers to hand them their helmets in disgrace. NOT! It was the “thermo-nuclear war” that wasn’t.
Favre’s performance was disappointing, he looked lackluster, and wound up getting hurt at the end of the second quarter. The second string quarterback did a tolerable job but couldn’t get past the Boys defense.
The officiating was questionable as there should have been a couple roughing calls made against the Packers.
All-in-all we Cowboys fans are delighted at the outcome.
