Hell freezes over: “I think the surge is working,” says Murtha

Via Bill Amos. I’m not giving you the direct link yet; I want you to watch this clip from July first so you can appreciate his ignorance, hypocrisy, and defeatism. CNN had him on for reaction after lefty war supporters Michael O’Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack returned from a week in Iraq and declared that conditions were improving, drawing furious attacks from the nutroots and the fawning cretins in Congress who represent them. A trip to Iraq, sneers Murtha; who could learn anything meaningful from that?
“It’s an illusion.”
Update: See-Dub suggests this Hot Air favorite as a better expression of the scalding blast of reality now hitting Murtha in the face.
Update: Is this the first stirring of the “declare victory and go home” withdrawal strategy?

So artsy, AP. Makes me teary-eyed.

Reality bites.

Whaahh??? I never ever ever thought I would hear those words from that man. Hmmm. Weird.
Zetterson on November 29, 2007 at 6:33 PM
And are the Marines innocent, too, Jack? I mean, as long as you’re reversing old positions…
Frozen Tex on November 29, 2007 at 6:35 PM
I was thinking more of the OH CRAP BUCKET OF HOT SCALDING REALITY IN THE FACE THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR FUTURE AND ALL BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LOOK WHERE YOU WERE GOING PSA from a couple days ago.
see-dubya on November 29, 2007 at 6:35 PM
Well Jack, your problem is you are taking advice from a soccer goalie. Upgrade yourself to a baseball catcher and you won’t look so silly.
Seriously though, it’s sad that the leadership of the Democratic party is led by political expediency and not by the facts. We would be so much better if we had two grown-up parties in the US.
Spirit of 1776 on November 29, 2007 at 6:36 PM
Good start. Now if he’ll just admit that the Haditha Marines are not guilty, my day will be complete.

I wonder what his Thanksgiving dinner with troops was like.
Oh yeah – and this guy is a tool.

He must’ve seen some internal polling numbers that scared him.

I want the 5 minutes of my life I wasted watching that video…
Wait, I have no life….
Dr. Gecko on November 29, 2007 at 6:37 PM
I bet there’s been a calculated decision by the Dems to soften their stance on the war and the surge purely for political purposes- someone must’ve clued them in to the fact that even most of those opposed to the war are still on our side and not that of the enemy as they’ve been.
Hollowpoint on November 29, 2007 at 6:38 PM
I love that video

Did that video remind anyone else of the melting-nazis scene from “Raiders of the Lost Ark?” I find the above video to be a worthy work, overall, but it seems like an almost-sinful waste of good chocolate.
gryphon202 on November 29, 2007 at 6:40 PM
See, the bunny represents Murtha’s integrity, and the heat is the truth that melts it away.
WisCon on November 29, 2007 at 6:44 PM
Freeze in Hell, Murtha!
SouthernGent on November 29, 2007 at 6:45 PM
Yep, and in a few weeks they’ll be taking credit for it. After all, they suggested a ‘change in course’, right?
RedWinged Blackbird on November 29, 2007 at 6:48 PM
Hmmm, I’m betting that he had a nice thanksgiving dinner with our troops that included plenty of mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, pickles, olives, stuffing oh and a very very large serving of CROW……

I think he’s drunk. Hangin w/ Teddy K too much maybe?

Hollow chocolate Easter bunnies are not usually made from good chocolate, so I don’t think you need to worry. (In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s not even technically chocolate at all.)

“Chocolate flavoured” b@stards.

Any one actually see video of him there, and who he visited and actually talked to? Sorry I’m such a cynic, but this tool deserves no quarter…. let the forgiving be God’s job on this man.

And hell will freeze before I give a SH** about this sickening POS let alone ever forgive this waste of human flesh called Murtha!

Well, of course. They “allowed” the surge to happen, didn’t they?

In the end, Dubya wins. Yet again. 3 years ago … one year ago … the Democrats were crowing at our “defeat.”
Now it looks as though Dumb George is going to turn out to be right. Or at least far closer to right than any liberal wants to admit.
Color me both happy and amused. All this success and good news must be absolutely killing the dumb bastards.
I can’t wait to see what the DU denizens have to say about Murtha.
Professor Blather on November 29, 2007 at 7:18 PM
I wonder what the status of the Marine slander suit against Murtha is going?
The Canadian PSA’s completely describe the problem with the Canadian health care system.
It says…., don’t get sick or hurt while waiting for a policy to help you.
Kini on November 29, 2007 at 7:18 PM
I’m disappointed. I kept waiting for the rabbit to elude the hawk only to be run over by the car. Now there’s your deeper meaning.
RedWinged Blackbird on November 29, 2007 at 7:20 PM
It’s going to be tough but the DEMs know they can’t win while supporting the terrorists like they have for the past x number of years. They’ve got to somehow fudge their position to some sembalance of patriotic while not totally pissing off their masters in Iran and Syria.
Buzzy on November 29, 2007 at 7:46 PM
That bunny video is actually really sad for some reason…
Lehosh on November 29, 2007 at 7:47 PM
I vote we make the “scalding face” video a new Hotair staple every time some public figure makes a really obvious, stupid mistake.
Enrique on November 29, 2007 at 7:49 PM
That chocolate rabbit is really Murtha, melting away at the heat of the good news, approval of the WoT going up,…Except, to keep it more real, those of you who can photoshop, replace the rabbit with a chocolate pig in front of the hot unit.
Breaking – Mr. Clinton “A agree with Karl Rove. That vote, the one when the Congress voted, and ma wife did too, and a agree with her completely, happened way too early. A was actually for the war all along, and did support ar president”.
In related news, DKos, HuffPo, DU, Rahm Emanuel, Teddy Kennedy, Mr. Schumer and Barbra Streisand have been overheard whimpering, while small puddles of liquid were observed underneath them.
Entelechy on November 29, 2007 at 7:54 PM
When the first chicken is uttered, think of Mr. Murtha.
When the second is uttered, think of Mr. Reid of Nevada.
The third, Mr. Edwards
The fourth Mr Obama
The fifth Mrs. Clinton, who will turn into a hawk at the first signs of progress, any moment now.
The sixth, DKos who will shout “f–k them”, and then will be overheard “sh-t, we’re f—-d again, Karl Rove and Cheney, die already”.
The seventh Ms. Pelosi “Oh, God, we must fund the troops before Christmas now”.
The eigths, Mr Webb “I was a republican on the war all along. I switched just to win. Idiots”.
You will not run out of options, believe me. The video and the left has provided ample spots to fill. Have at it.
Entelechy on November 29, 2007 at 8:08 PM
A total CYA moment to be saved to show for the election in 2008 to try to offset Murtha’s hypocrisy and anti-military rhetoric. Too little, too late. We all have the ex-Marine’s number.
katieanne on November 29, 2007 at 8:16 PM
Yeah, a total CYA moment. He’s got a suit against him, an active duty military officer willing to resign and forgo his retirement to run against this clown. Way too little and way too late. Idiot.

Hey,Murtha the surge is working, and in cold blood,
that was the only platform the Liberal’s were banking
on,surrender in Irag,the Liberal’s chance of winning
this is about the same as the M.S. Wilhelm Gustloff
leaving the port of Gadansk.

Murtha and the Democraps haven’t suffered enough humiliation. These crapweasels must not be allowed to get away with tbeir treason. They need to pay and pay dearly.

Ex-Marines like Murtha will never prevail so long as American families like this exist:
http://www.mlive.com/news/grpress/index.ssf?/base/news-39/11962551203190.xml&coll=6
One son who made the ultimate sacrifice, one in the service, and still an attitude of “my turn to serve?” God bless this family and keep them safe!
highhopes on November 29, 2007 at 9:52 PM
Hmmmmm……if Hell is frozen over does this mean that Murtha is skating on thin ice?
.
GT on November 29, 2007 at 9:53 PM
He is a stooge for Reid and Pelosi. My problem was never that he opposed the war. That’s a policy position that we can debate and agree to disagree if necessary. My problem with him is still how he has tossed aside a career of (somewhat) troop support, smeared a bunch of Marines when he should of been screaming the whole Innocent until Proven Guilty mantra, and then called them guilty before the hearings even got started.
He has been asked point blank if he apologizes for the smear and he refused to even address it.
As our friend over at D-Kos might say, “Screw Him”.
Pilgrim on November 29, 2007 at 9:58 PM
That video was one of the sickest, scariest, dullest things I’ve ever watched.
Good job you followed it up with videos of the melting bunny and flying sous-chef

Also, living in England as I do, I’ve become very much adept at spotting agricultural diseases.
Unless I’m mistaken, it seems to me that Sen. Furka is suffering from Foot In Mouth disease.

Hey Murtha, you asshat — how about calling up Herr Olbermann and appearing on his show to tell the
worldlooney left of your newfound revelations?Seems you and bathtub boy have a lot in common Johnny — he’s never been over to Iraq and reads from a bleating script on every show, and you’ve been reading from a prepared script for months and years while ignoring everyone over there.
Murtha and Olby together on the same set. Imagine that target rich environment chock a block full of stupidity.

No thanks to what you have said and done you arrogant asswipe. How about actually getting your colleagues to fund our troops now.
What? You couldn’t trust any of the number of people who said the same thing? You had to waste taxpayer dollars (or non-existent funds for our soldiers) to go see for yourself?
What window dressing. So he spent less than four days in Kuwait and Iraq and found enough to convince him?
D@mn fool!
91Veteran on November 29, 2007 at 10:39 PM
It’d be great to have Murtha’s face p’shopped onto the matador’s.
91Veteran on November 29, 2007 at 10:58 PM
From the article you linked:
Uh, on the Early Show and CBS? This makes it sound as if these yahoos have been supporting the troops all along.
God Bless the family.
91Veteran on November 29, 2007 at 11:03 PM
Good point about the MSM and it makes me angry. This family is not unique except for the circumstances of their service. There are countless stories like this to be told but it doesn’t fit the MSM profile that the war is lost. These stories are seldom told unless there is a “hook” like the age of the new sailor and the circumstances of his joining.
BTW, you can’t tell it from the article I linked but this particular reporter is a rabid Bush and military hater. He constantly writes articles that start with the assumption the only reason why individuals join the military is because they have no other choice. He must have been choking over the concept of a successful doctor joining because it was his turn to serve.

Melting chocolate vid especially appropriate for Murtha story.

RushBaby on November 29, 2007 at 11:57 PM
Amen. There was an excess of verisimilitudiousness in that one. I click on another one in the same series, which starred a babe falling off a ladder (1/2 bucket of blood); that one featured the appropriate Candadian nanny-state cant, which made me just smirk with pride to be an American. “Why isn’t there some regulation already in place mandating two ladder operators on that task?” Something like that. But the sous-chef. Gevalt, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Almost.

The surge is working. The Demos are losing Iraq as campaign fodder and they have lost the illegal immigration angle too. Hill and the gang are trying to gather traction with “it is the economy stupid” Carville-esque retread now. As the economy softens (or will it?), look for more Carvillisms.

Murtha can rot in hell as far as I am concerned. His BS has caused harm to our brave service people and I will never forgive him for that. He is nothing but a SOS.
BobK on November 30, 2007 at 5:07 AM
It is sure softening for the thousands of people facing foreclosure thanks to the sub-prime lending practices that preyed on the poorer people in our country.
Bradky on November 30, 2007 at 6:55 AM
Let’s look at Rep. Murtha’s record as a Marine.
I think he spent to much time near the artillery and the concussions have scrambled his brain and he is facing a similar fate as the bunny-a complete melt down from the heat of the truth.
MSGTAS on November 30, 2007 at 8:35 AM
I think Nancy charged Murtha with finding a way to get the timetable off the table, so suddenly the surge is working and the timetable is negotiable. She’s making him eat this one.
ctmom on November 30, 2007 at 9:02 AM
I think Nancy charged Murtha with finding a way to get the timetable off the table…
Yep, Nancy is making Jack bend over and “take one for the team”. It must have been Nancy’s schmooze with the Syrian optometrist that turned the tide, because I distinctly remember that she told us “the road to peace leads through Damascus!”
drunyan8315 on November 30, 2007 at 10:14 AM
Murtha’s opinions on anything, good, bad or otherwise are rooted in mud.
Now his opinions are as worthless to Pelosi as they are to everyone else.
I can’t wait for this worthless piece of garbage to go away.
