Is CNN plotting Hugo Chavez’s murder?

Of course not. But that’s what the Venezuelan madman Hugh Chavez seems to think.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Wednesday CNN may have been instigating his murder when the U.S. TV network showed a photograph of him with a label underneath that read “Who killed him?”

The caption appeared to be a production mistake — confusing a Chavez news item with one on the death of a football star. The anchor said “take the image down” when he realized.

But Chavez called for a probe in an interview on state television, where he repeatedly reviewed a tape of the broadcast, questioning why the unconnected photograph and wording were left on screen for several seconds.

CNN was obviously teasing a story about the murder of Redskins player Sean Taylor, not teasing the future murder of Hugo Chavez. I guess Hugo has never heard the word “glitch.”

In other crazy Hugo news, Venezuela also recalled its ambassador to Colombia over the tiff I posted on yesterday.

Venezuela has recalled its ambassador to Colombia for consultations following a harsh exchange of words between the presidents of both countries.

The Venezuelan government said it was carrying out an “exhaustive evaluation of its relationship” with Colombia.

But Colombia said it would not follow suit and withdraw its envoy in Caracas.

The dispute began last week when Colombia ended Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s involvement in hostage negotiations with the Farc rebel group.

Mr Chavez called the decision a “spit in the face” and froze bilateral ties.

The Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe, responded by accusing his counterpart of not being interested in promoting peace in Colombia and wanting the country to “be a victim of a Farc terrorist government”.

One way or another, Chavez’s rule is becoming less and less likely to end well.

Without doubt. I’m looking forward to watching this buffoon go down hard. I just hope there’s not a lot of blood in the streets.

If hugo loses this vote, will his head explode?

lorien1973 on November 28, 2007 at 12:50 PM

Oh please Bryan, dont you get it? The Communist News Network was clearly attempting to warn Chavez of an impending Bushitler/Darth Cheney/Halliburton plot to kill him.

Oh, you mean like invading Guyana? You probably won’t hear a peep about it.

Doesn’t Chavez understand that CNN is gaffe-prone? I seem to remember a “Where’s Osama?” incident involving Barack Obama.

steveegg on November 28, 2007 at 1:00 PM

At the going rate, he’ll ban all media during this weekend’s vote, then announce his landslide victory.

Thanks for the link, Bryan.

.
In his frantic quest to become a “big” man, “OOG-OH” Chavez seems to be trying to double his WEIGHT, instead of his popularity.
.
Maybe he ATE something that’s making him crazy(er)?
.
It might be an idea just to build a podium on his ample stomach so that there’s a staging area for his mouth. That way all things coming and going will have a place to sit avant/apres’ suck or spew…
.
And to think that “crazy” Pat Robertson said (when? A year ago?) that it might be easier just to spend a bullet on him than to put up with his sorry fat ass for the future. What was Pat thinking?
.
(sigh)

The more I think about Chavez, the more I realize: He’s the DailyKos dream candidate.

Think about it–he’s a communist, free-speech crushing, calls Bush the devil (I.e. speaking truth to Power), will nationalize all those evil corporations, and probably outlaw the republican party. Isn’t that what the HuffPo and DailyKos types want? Plus, all that anarchy, blood and violence would suit them just fine, I bet.

Vanceone on November 28, 2007 at 1:04 PM

I can’t believe that at one time I advocated supporting Chavez. I wanted the US to no longer buy any Middle eastern oil and buy from Venezuela and Russia, because both of those countries could use our money more than the Arabs can.

I still believe that, but we need to get rid of that insane madman.

On a brighter note, though, I understand Chavez can run a 4.4 40.

Funny, he’s doing everything the Left accused Bush of plotting since day one and yet Hollywood know-nothings go down there and get on their knees, the media give him pass after pass. Can’t wait till he bites it, they will have 24/7 coverage of his untimely death, complete with puff pieces, I bet.

Anyone want to start a Hugo Chavez Death Watch pool?

I’ll take April 19, 2009.

Yeh, but that’s running through the trees. On a flat track, he gets too distracted by the lack of cover.

just how do you think that the names chavez and allende will be linked in history?

This is the norm for Chavez. He rallies the masses with nutball conspiracies, and starting fights with foreign heads of state. Hopefully, his referendum goes down hard on Dec 2.

Golden Boy on November 28, 2007 at 1:57 PM

One way or another, Chavez’s rule is becoming less and less likely to end well.

Then again, things might not end well for Venezuela.

Fidel Castro is still in power in Cuba.

My earlier post on Chavez inadvertently tipped off CNN operatives, many of whom watch HotAir for reichwing scuttlebutt. They sprang into action.

Look for Chavistas to begin surveillance of HotAir in three, two, …

Post = I should say my earlier comment, not post.

This cabron Chavez will end up one of two ways, mark my words. Plucked out of his palatial estate wrapped up in duct tape like ‘ole Pineapple Face, or dragged through the streets of Caracas a la Mussolini.

DrW on November 28, 2007 at 2:41 PM

Well, now. THIS is interesting. I made a snark diary at the DailyKos about how Chavez is the dream candidate for them. Some called me a troll (and other things, showing some of them have some sense), but some are trying to defend Chavez, and they actually agree with my snarky diary!

the link to the Kos Diary.

And my poll on it is running about 33% think he’d make a great president, with 66 against.

Dang. And here I thought I’d finally found a reason to like CNN…

Mazztek on November 28, 2007 at 1:09 PM

1. If they needed the money so bad they would lower the price. That always works in a free market.

2. Do you think the money in either of those countries get to those who are in need?
