Nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure. Win-win: puts a serious crimp in the jihad in Europe AND deals with the French.

Hey, there's a significant Euro value attached to that city, and frankly, I don't think anyone here is qualified to make that decision; no offense.

Police, BY LAW, can't work over 30 hours per week.
So they are kinda screwed. The Disenfranchised crazed Islamic youth on the other hand can fire bomb 24/7

Have they burned down any buildings? If not, who give a f–k?

Nov 27th:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/27/world/europe/27paris.html?ref=europe&pagewanted=all

Through the evening, they burned down the police station in Villiers-le-Bel, and set fire to four privately owned buildings

Timeframe undetermined...
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jeFc8AF_c6NJD6v25AZYeidCgg0AD8T6TBM00

The belief that police were at fault prompted rioters to burn down a library, preschool and several stores earlier this week.

Even if you're calling this overlap from the previous article, a police station, a library, and preschool, and several stores at a minimum. is that enough?

... I happen to be in the profession ...

Ok, and how many police stations have you let rioters burn out from under you?

Sorry, but either you missed the parts of the story where they're burning down multiple buildings and deliberately shooting cops, or you've passed worldly and blasé and gone into apathetic.

Do you think they should just ignore the rioters shooting cops too? How many cops can they shoot before you get concerned?

Meh, I guess it's only buckshot, right?

at least 120 police injured

Nine people were detained in Villiers ahead of Fillon’s visit, police told AFP, and at least one shop was on fire later in the evening.

Earlier, a court jailed eight youths over the clashes with police Sunday and Monday. Four were handed prison sentences ranging from three to 10 months, while four others were detained pending judgement.

120 injured, vs. 17 arrested? So, the takeaway here for French police is if someone busts you in the face with a club, or shoots you; they won't be punished for doing so.

Well, I can see a potential morale issue here. Doing a dangerous job sucks. Doing a dangerous job with no support, no backup, and leaders willing to sell you up the river... seems like it would suck worse.

I don't see this one getting better before it gets worse.

"about a dozen cars were set on fire in the southern city of Toulouse" - this seems surprisingly low for a riot. Where I used to work in London there was a burnt car every week or so, and that was the work of bored kids (literally, children) during peacetime. These riots seem more like inner-city Huddersfield of a Saturday night, or a typical night in Belfast during the troubles. I'm always skeptical whenever the media reports riots and burning cars etc, because it's easy to take shots of one car from several different angles. Given the reports of rioters using hunting rifles it seems odd that we are not hearing of one or two dead policemen per day. Eventually this kind of urban disturbance will be a continual background drone that we will filter out.

That approach works every time. Also, sometimes you get lucky and get the chance to thin them out some.

"Did we forget about the library they burned yesterday. There was a picture of it here on HA.

Also, what is the deal with “let them burn all the cars they want?” Who are you? What are you? French?

No. But I happen to be in the profession and in order of importance...Lives, buildings then everything else.

by the way...my next riot won't be my first, kid.

As interior minister he called these protesters "scum," for which he became the most hated person in France among these ... scum. Now, as president, I suppose he is trying to show them he is not a "crazy Frenchman," which is what he hopelessly needs to be to deal with them.

Exactly. The vaunted law and order "conservative" Sarko comes to the rescue and guys who shot at cops get 4 - 6 months? What a farce.

Good question, I wonder though if they just pay in taxes.

Okay. what I’m saying is…let ‘em burn up all the cars they want. Buildings are a different thing.

So an entire neighborhood of burning cars is OK, but torch one building, and it's different? Eh, I don't get it.

* Police cars on fire
* Savages dancing on top of the police cars that were set on fire
* Shooting at police
* >80 officers hurt

And they're still sending the regular police in?!?
They should deploy the French equivalent of the National Guard. If I'd be a cop in France and told to go in these hot zones I'd tell my supervisor to go F himself. It's a miracle no cops have died yet.

Did we forget about the library they burned yesterday. There was a picture of it here on HA.

Also, what is the deal with "let them burn all the cars they want?" Who are you? What are you? French?
